सच्ची पतिव्रता

परम भक्त श्रीजयदेवजीकी पतिव्रता पत्नीका राजभवनमें बड़ा सम्मान था। राजभवनकी महिलाएँ उनके घर आकर उनके सत्सङ्गका लाभ उठाया करती थीं। एक दिन बातों-बातों में ही रानीसे पद्मावतीने कहा- ‘जो स्त्री पतिके मर जानेपर उसकी देहके साथसती होती हैं, वे नीची श्रेणीकी सती हैं। सच्ची पतिव्रता तो पतिकी मृत्युका संवाद पाते ही प्राण त्याग देती है। | पतिकी मृत्युका समाचार पाकर उसके प्राण क्षणभर भी शरीरमें टिक नहीं सकते।’

रानीको यह बात ठीक नहीं लगी। उनके मनमेंईर्ष्या जाग उठी। पद्मावतीजीकी परीक्षा करनेका उन्होंने निश्चय कर लिया। एक समय नरेश आखेटमें गये थे। जयदेवजीको भी वे साथ ले गये थे। अवसरका लाभ उठाकर रानीने मुख उदास बनाकर पद्मावतीजीके पास जाकर कहा – ‘पण्डितजीको वनमें सिंह खा गया।’

रानीसे यह बात सुनते ही पद्मावती ‘श्रीकृष्ण, श्रीकृष्ण’ कहकर धड़ामसे पृथ्वीपर गिर पड़ीं और उनका शरीर निष्प्राण हो गया। रानीके तो होश उड़ गये। उनके दुःखका पार नहीं था। महाराजके साथ जयदेवजीनगरमें लौटे। उन्हें समाचार दिया गया। जयदेवजीको पत्नीकी मृत्युका दुःख नहीं था, दुःख उन्हें हुआ रानीके शोककी बात सुनकर। उन्होंने कहलाया- ‘रानी माँसे कहो, वे घबरायें नहीं। मेरी मृत्युके संवादसे पद्मावतीके प्राण निकले हैं तो अब मेरे जीवित लौटनेपर उसके प्राणोंको लौटना भी पड़ेगा।’

जयदेवजीने भगवान्से प्रार्थना की और पद्मावतीकी देहके पास कीर्तन प्रारम्भ किया। धीरे-धीरे पद्मावतीके शरीरमें चेतना लौटी और वे उठ बैठीं। -सु0 सिं0

The husbandly wife of the supreme devotee Shri Jaydevji had great respect in the Raj Bhavan. The women of Raj Bhavan used to come to his house and take advantage of his satsang. One day Padmavati said to the queen while talking- ‘The woman who commits sati along with her husband’s body after his death, is a low grade sati. True patriotism sacrifices her life as soon as she gets the news of her husband’s death. , After getting the news of her husband’s death, her life cannot stay in the body even for a moment.’
The queen did not like this thing. Jealousy arose in his heart. He decided to test Padmavatiji. Once upon a time the king had gone hunting. They had taken Jaydevji along with them. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the queen went to Padmavatiji with a sad face and said – ‘Panditji has been eaten by a lion in the forest.’
On hearing this from the queen, Padmavati fell on the earth saying ‘Shri Krishna, Shri Krishna’ and her body became lifeless. The queen lost her senses. There was no end to his sorrow. Returned to Jaydevjinagar with Maharaj. The news was given to him. Jaidevji was not sad about the death of his wife, he felt sad after listening to the queen’s mourning. He said- ‘Tell the queen and mother, they should not panic. Padmavati’s life has come from the dialogue of my death, so now when I return alive, her life will also have to be returned.’
Jaydevji prayed to God and started kirtan near Padmavati’s body. Slowly consciousness returned to Padmavati’s body and she sat up. – Su 0 Sin 0
