अपने प्रति अन्याय

एक साधुकी गाय किसीने चुरा ली। जब लोग गाय ढूँढ़ने लगे, तब साधु बोले- ‘गाय ले जाते समय मैंने चोरको देखा; किंतु उस समय मैं जप कर रहा था, बोल नहीं सकता था।’

‘कितना दुष्ट है वह।’ लोग चोरकी निन्दा करने लगे।साधुने उन्हें रोका – ‘मैंने उसे क्षमा कर दिया है।

आप सब भी क्षमा कर दें।’

‘ऐसा दुष्ट भी क्या क्षमा करनेयोग्य होता है। उसे तो दण्ड मिलना चाहिये।’ दूसरे लोग बहुत उत्तेजित थे।साधु बोले–’उसने मेरे प्रति तो कोई अन्याय किया नहीं, मैं क्यों क्रोध करूँ और दण्ड दिलाऊँ । गाय मेरे प्रारब्धमें अब नहीं होगी इसलिये चली गयी। उसनेतो अपने प्रति ही अन्याय किया है; क्योंकि उसने चोरीका पाप किया, जिसका दण्ड उसे अब या जन्मान्तरमें अवश्य भोगना पड़ेगा ।’

Someone stole a saintly cow. When people started searching for the cow, the monk said – ‘I saw the thief while taking the cow; But at that time I was chanting, could not speak.’
‘How wicked he is.’ People started condemning the thief. The monk stopped them – ‘I have forgiven him.
You all also forgive.
How can even such a wicked person be forgiven. He should be punished. Others were very agitated. The monk said – ‘He has not done any injustice to me, why should I get angry and punish him. The cow will no longer be in my destiny, so it has gone. He has done injustice to himself; Because he committed the sin of theft, for which he will have to suffer the punishment now or in the next birth.’
