आजादकी अद्भुत जितेन्द्रियता

सुप्रसिद्ध महान् देशभक्त क्रान्तिकारी तरुण वीर चन्द्रशेखर आजाद बड़े ही दृढ़प्रतिज्ञ थे। हर समय आपके गलेमें यज्ञोपवीत, जेबमें गीता और पिस्तौल साथ रहा करती थी। आप कट्टर आस्तिक, ईश्वरपरायण, सदाचारी, ब्रह्मचारी, जितेन्द्रिय और संयमी थे । व्यभिचारियोंको बड़ी घृणाकी दृष्टिसे देखा करते थे और कहा करते थे कि जो कामी कुत्ता है और परस्त्रीगामी है, वह न तो देश- जातिकी सेवा कर सकता है और न अपना ही उत्थान कर सकता है। आप चाहते थे कि भारतमें एकभी व्यभिचारी पुरुष न रहे और एक भी व्यभिचारिणी स्त्री न हो। जहाँ भी किसीने आपके सामने तनिक भी स्त्रीका प्रसङ्ग चलाया तो आप आपत्ति किये बिना नहीं रहते थे और आप कहा करते थे कि स्त्रीसे दूर रहने में ही देशभक्तका कल्याण है ।

एक बार आप अपने एक मित्र महानुभावके यहाँ ठहरे हुए थे। उनकी नवयुवती कन्याने उन्हें काम- जाल में फाँसना चाहा, आजादजीने डाँटकर उत्तर दिया ‘इस बार तुम्हें क्षमा करता हूँ, भविष्यमें ऐसा हुआ तो गोलीसे उड़ादूँगा।’ यह बात आपने उसके पिताको भी बता दी और भविष्यमें उनके यहाँ ठहरनातक बंद कर दिया। आपके पास क्रान्तिकारी दलके हजारों रुपये भी रहते थे; परंतु उसमेंसे अपनी कराहती माँको भी कभीएक पैसा आपने नहीं दिया। जब किसीने इस सम्बन्धमें उनसे कहा तो आपने उत्तर दिया ‘यह पैसा मेरा नहीं, राष्ट्रका है। चन्द्रशेखर इसमेंसे एक भी पैसा व्यक्तिगत कार्यों में नहीं लगा सकता।’

Well-known great patriotic revolutionary Tarun Veer Chandrashekhar Azad was very determined. You used to have Yajnopavit around your neck, Gita and pistol in your pocket all the time. You were a staunch believer, God-fearing, virtuous, celibate, Jitendriya and restrained. He used to look at adulterers with great hatred and used to say that the one who is a lustful dog and an adulterer, can neither serve the country nor can uplift himself. You wanted that there should not be a single adulterous man and not a single adulterous woman in India. Whenever someone raised the issue of a woman in front of you, you did not live without objecting and you used to say that it is better for a patriot to stay away from women.
Once you were staying at a friend’s place. His young daughter wanted to trap him in the trap of sex, Azadji scolded and replied, ‘I forgive you this time, if this happens in future, I will shoot you.’ You told this to his father as well and stopped staying at his place in future. Thousands of rupees of the revolutionary party were also kept with you; But out of that you never gave even a single penny to your moaning mother. When someone asked him about this, he replied, ‘This money is not mine, it belongs to the nation. Chandrashekhar cannot use even a single penny out of this for personal work.’
