पहले कर्तव्य पीछे पुत्रका विवाह

‘माताजी! इतनी गम्भीरतासे क्या देख रही हैं ?’ ‘कुछ नहीं शिवा! यही कि आस-पास सभी किलोंपर तेरी विजय- वैजयन्ती फहरा रही है, फिर केवल बीचके इस कोंडणा दुर्गपर ही यवनोंका आधिपत्य क्यों ? मैं वहाँ रहना चाहती हूँ।’

‘जो आज्ञा माताजीकी!’- शिवाजीने स्वीकार कर लिया और तत्काल एक पत्र तानाजीके नाम लिखा ‘माताजीकी आज्ञा है कि कोंडणा दुर्ग अभी फतह किया जाय। यह काम तुम ही कर सकते हो।’

तानाजी अपने पुत्रके विवाहकी तैयारीमें लगे थे। स्वामीका पत्र पाते ही उन्होंने बरातियोंसे कहा- ‘पहले कोंडणा दुर्गसे ब्याह, फिर मेरे बच्चेका ब्याह !’तुरंत तानाजी सेना लेकर निकल पड़े। किलेपर चढ़नेके लिये डाली घोरपड़ तीन बार गिरी। शेलार मामाने कहा- ‘तेरे अपशकुनकी परवा नहीं। अबकी बार न चढ़ी तो टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर डालूँगा।’

घोरपड़ चिपक गयी। तानाजी दुर्गपर चढ़ गये। नीचे डोर डालकर सेनाको चढ़ाया। वहाँ जमकर युद्ध हुआ। कोंडणापर विजय प्राप्त की गयी-गढ़ हाथ लगा, पर सिंह तानाजी, शिवाजीकी दूसरी प्रतिमूर्ति और उनके बाल साथी वहीं काम आ गये।

शिवाजीको समाचार मिलते ही उनके मुँह से निकल पड़ा – ‘ गढ़ आला पण सिंह गेला।’ तबसे उस दुर्गका नाम ‘सिंहगढ’ रखा गया।- गो0 न0 बै0

‘Mother! What are you looking at so seriously? ‘Nothing Shiva! This is that your victory-vaijayanti is hoisting on all the forts around, then why the dominance of Yavanas only on this Kondana fort in the middle? I want to be there.’
‘The order of Mataji!’- Shivaji accepted and immediately wrote a letter to Tanaji ‘Mataji’s order is that the Kondana fort should be conquered now. Only you can do this work.’
Tanaji was busy preparing for his son’s marriage. As soon as he received Swami’s letter, he said to the Baratis – ‘First marry Kondana Durg, then my child’s marriage!’ Immediately Tanaji left with the army. To climb the fort, Dali Ghorpad fell three times. Shelar Mama said – ‘ I don’t care about your bad omens. If it doesn’t work this time, I will break it into pieces.’
Ghorpad stuck. Tanaji climbed the fort. The army was offered by putting a rope down. There was a fierce war there. Kondana was conquered – the citadel was captured, but Singh Tanaji, Shivaji’s second idol and his child companions came in handy there.
As soon as Shivaji got the news, it came out of his mouth – ‘Garh Ala Pan Singh Gela’. Since then that fort was named ‘Singhgarh’.
