वात्सल्यवती वृद्धा

एक भक्तिमती वृद्धा श्रीराधाके बालरूपका ध्यान कर रही थी। ध्यानमें श्रीराधाने काजल न लगवानेका हट पकड़ लिया। वह भाँति-भाँति उसको फुसला रही थी। वह कह रही थी कि ‘तू काजल लगाये बिना कन्हैयासे खेलने जायगी तो वह तेरी हँसीउड़ायेगा।’ यह कहकर वह काजल लगानेकी कोशिश करने लगी। इससे काजल फैल गया और श्रीराधाकी आँखोंमें जल भर आया। यह देखकर वृद्धाने अपने आँचलसे उनको पोंछ दिया। जब उसकी आँखें खुलीं तब उसने देखा कि उसके आँचलमें श्रीराधाके दिव्यअश्रुओंसे सिञ्चित काजल लगा है। वह यह देखकर गद्गद हो गयी और अपने प्रति श्रीराधाकी कृपा देखकर आत्म-विस्मृत हो गयी। उसके नयनोंसे अविरल प्रेमाश्रुबहने लगे। कहते हैं कि वह दिव्य कज्जल वृद्धाके आँचलमें दस-बारह घंटेतक रहा। तदनन्तर वह स्वयमेव अन्तर्हित हो गया।

An old devotee was meditating on the child form of Shriradha. In meditation, Shriradha took the stand of not applying kajal. She was alluring him in many ways. She was saying that ‘if you go to play with Kanhaiya without applying mascara, he will make you laugh’. Saying this she started trying to apply kajal. Due to this the kajal spread and Shriradha’s eyes were filled with water. Seeing this, the old woman wiped them with her lap. When her eyes opened, she saw that her lap was smeared with mascara irrigated with the divine tears of Shriradha. She was overjoyed to see this and became self-forgetful seeing Shriradha’s kindness towards her. Tears of love started flowing continuously from her eyes. It is said that that divine kajal stayed in the lap of the old woman for ten to twelve hours. After that it automatically disappeared.
