एक समर्थ गुरु अपने अंतकरण से शिष्य के अंतकरण में अपनी सारी शक्तियां उतार देते हैं, और समय के साथ धीरे-धीरे शिष्य को गुरु की वह सारी शक्तियां प्राप्त हो जाती है, आत्मज्ञानी गुरु की यही पहचान होती है,

शिष्य धीरे-धीरे मनन चिंतन के द्वारा गुरु में इस कदर खोया रहता है कि उसे पता भी नहीं चलता और गुरु की सारी शक्तियां बड़ी आसानी से उसके अंतकरण में उतर आती है, और एक दिन वह अपने गुरु की समस्त शक्तियों और ज्ञान का अनुभव अपने अंतकरण में ही करने लगता है,

इसी परंपरा को गुरु शिष्य परंपरा करके हैं क्योंकि शिष्य गुरु को हर पल याद करते हुए गुरु में इस कदर से खो जाता है कि वह गुरु के समान ही हो जाता है गुरु की सारी शक्ति सारा ज्ञान स्वभाव सब कुछ शिष्य के अंतकरण में उतर आता है, और 1 दिन शिष्य गुरु के समान ही हो जाता है,
