हनुमान जी ! रावण की लंका कैसी थी ?
मैंने सुना है लंका सुवर्ण की थी वहाँ बड़े-बड़े देवताओं को बन्दी बनाकर रावण रखता था क्या ये बात सही है ?
जब चाहो वर्षा हो जाती थी लंका में क्यों कि वरुण देवता रावण के ही बन्दी बने हुए थे… क्या ये बात सही है ?
हनुमान जी मन ही मन मुस्कुरा रहे हैं भरत जी के प्रश्न सुनकर ।
हनुमान जी ! मैंने तो ये भी सुना है कि इंद्र इत्यादि देवता भी रावण के वश में थे… क्यों कि इंद्र को तो उसके पुत्र मेघनाद ने ही जीता था ।
हनुमान जी ने भरत जी से कहा- भरत भैया ! आपकी सभी बातें सत्य हैं… रावण ऐसा ही था ।
मैं अपनी घटना आपको बताता हूँ…
मैंने जब समुद्र पार किया और लंका में अपने पैर रखे ही थे… तभी मेरे सामने एक विशाल पर्वत दिखाई दिया… “सुबेल” था उस पर्वत का नाम… सन्ध्या की वेला थी… मैंने सोचा लंका नगर में अभी प्रवेश करना उचित नही होगा… क्यों कि दिन के उजाले में सभी सन्त महात्मा ही लगते हैं असलियत तो रात्रि के अंधकार में दिखाई देती है । और वैसे भी ये लंका थी… यहाँ शाम को ही मदिरा पीकर मत्त होने वाले लोग ज्यादा ही थे… फिर रात्रि में इनकी मत्तता और बढ़ेगी ही… तब मैं इनकी असलियत जान पाऊँगा…
भरत भैया ! ऐसा विचार कर… मैं उस समय लंका नगर में नही गया सुबेल नामक उस पर्वत की चोटी पर चढ़ने लगा था क्यों कि यही पर्वत की चोटी ऐसी थी… जिस पर कोई चढ़ जाए तो पूरी लंका यही से दीख जाती थी ।
भरत भैया ! दूसरा कारण ये भी था इस पर्वत पर चढ़ने का… कि मेरे मन में ये विचार आ गया कि प्रभु श्रीराम जब लंका में सेना को लेकर आयेंगे तो उन सबका केंद्र कहाँ होगा ? मुझे यही सुबेल नाम का पर्वत ही ठीक लग रहा था… और बाद में प्रभु श्री राघवेन्द्र सरकार ने मेरी बात मानकर इसी सुबेल पर्वत को ही अपनी सेना का प्रमुख केंद्र बना लिया था ।
मैं गया… मैं चढ़ता जा रहा था इतनी कठिन चढ़ाई थी इस पर्वत के चोटी की… कि साधारण मानव के वश की तो बात ही नही थी कि इस पर कोई चढ़ जाए…।
मैं चढ़ता गया… और पर्वत की चोटी पर जैसे ही पहुँचा… पीछे से एकाएक कोई भयानक-सी परछाई मुझे मारने के लिए झपटी मैं दो कदम पीछे खिसक गया था ।
पर मुझे जब उस परछाई ने देखा तो वह स्वयं संकोच करके पीछे की ओर चली गयी ।
कौन ? कौन हो ? आगे बढ़ते हुए मैंने पूछा ।
सूर्यास्त होने जा रहा था… उस प्रकाश में मैंने देखा उसे… तो मैं भी चौंक गया था…
मृत्यु देव !…
भरत भैया ! वो साक्षात् मृत्यु थे… मृत्यु देवता…
भरत जी चौंकें… काल ?
हाँ भरत भैया ! और मुझे तब परम आश्चर्य हुआ जब मैंने देखा कि जंजीरों से मृत्यु के पैरों को बाँध दिया गया था ।
आपको बन्दी बनाया गया है ?… पर किसमें इतना सामर्थ्य है !
भरत भैया ! मैं समझ नही पा रहा था कि मृत्यु को कौन बाँध सकता है ?
सिर झुकाकर मृत्यु देव ने कहा- रावण ने मुझे बन्दी बनाया है… और मुझे ये आदेश दिया है कि जो भी इस पहाड़ी पर चढ़ेगा उसे तुम्हें मारना है…।
मुझे यमराज के यहाँ से रावण लेकर आया है…
और मेरे यहाँ आने के कारण… अब मेरा काम भी स्वयं यमराज को ही करना पड़ रहा है मृत्यु देव ने मुझे ये सारी बातें बताईं थीं ।
भरत भैया ! मुझे रावण बुद्धिमान तो लगा क्यों कि ये पर्वत ही ऐसा था जो भी व्यक्ति पहली बार लंका में आएगा… वो इस सुबेल पर्वत पर अवश्य चढ़ेगा… इस पर्वत पर बिना चढ़े आप लंका को देख ही नही सकते…।
और जब कोई चढ़ेगा इस पर्वत पर… तो मरेगा ही… क्यों कि यही पर मृत्यु के देवता को रख दिया था रावण ने ।
मैं खोल देता हूँ… आपकी जंजीरें ! मैंने झुक कर बन्धन खोल दिये… मुझे बहुत-बहुत आशीर्वाद देते हुए वो मृत्यु देव अपने यमराज के पास चले गए थे ।
भरत भैया ! मुझे सुबेल पर्वत खाली चाहिए था क्यों कि प्रभु के सेना की व्यवस्था यहीं करनी थी मुझे ।
मैं चारों ओर पर्वत के घूम-घूम कर देख रहा था…
तभी मेरे सामने एक और काला पुरुष आ गया…
वो पुरुष सिर झुकाये मुझे वन्दन कर रहा था…
कौन हो तुम ? यहाँ कैसे रहते हो ?
तुम राक्षस तो नही लग रहे… फिर इन राक्षसों की नगरी में कैसे ?
मेरा पूछना आवश्यक था… मैं उसे पहचान नही पा रहा था ।
आप श्रीराम दूत हैं ना ?
हाँ… हूँ मैं राम दूत… पर आप कौन हैं ? मैंने पूछा ।
आप जिन सूर्य वंशी श्रीराम के दास हैं मैं उन्हीं सूर्य का पुत्र हूँ ।
ओह ! शनिदेव !… मैंने अपने हाथ जोड़ लिए ।
पर आप को भी यहाँ बन्दी बना लिया है क्या रावण ने ?
मेरे प्रश्न का उत्तर देते हुए शनिदेव ने कहा-
मैं सबके जीवन में आता ही हूँ… पर रावण ज्योतिष का बहुत बड़ा विद्वान है ऋषि भृगु को भी पीछे छोड़ दिया इस रावण ने तो… आपको तो पता ही होगा “रावण संहिता” के बारे में !
शनिदेव ने अपनी बात बताई… रावण ने मुझे भी बाँध दिया है।
सबके जीवन में साढ़े साती तो आती ही है… एक बार ही नही तीन-तीन बार आती है… फिर उसके बाद ढाई-ढाई वर्ष के लिए आता रहता हूँ मैं…।
पर इस रावण ने ऐसे ज्योतिष पर शोध किया… कि मेरी ना साढ़े साती… ना ढैैया लंका के ऊपर मेरा कोई प्रभाव नही है…।
मुझे बांध और दिया है इसी लंका में ।
लंका के शत्रुओं को देखने की जिम्मेवारी मुझे दी है ।
फिर मुझे क्यों नही देख रहे हैं आप शनिदेव से मैंने कहा ।
आपको मैं कैसे देख सकता हूँ… आप ही तो हैं हम देवों के रक्षक…
मुझे पता है आपने मेरे ही पिता सूर्यदेव को बाल्यावस्था में फल समझ कर मुख में डाल लिया था ।
आपके बारे में मैंने अपनी माँ से बहुत कुछ सुना है उन्हीं ने मुझे बताया था कि एक वानर है… महावीर है उसी ने एक बार तुम्हारे पिता को भी निगल लिया था…
पर इसके बाद मेरी माँ आपकी भगवत् भक्ति की चर्चा करते हुए कभी थकती नही थीं… मेरी माता का नाम है “छाया” ।
जाओ ! अब जाओ शनिदेव ! लो ! मैंने तुम्हारी ये जंजीरें खोल दीं ।
तुम अब रावण के बन्धन से मुक्त हो… अपने लोक में जाओ ।
मैंने शनिदेव से कहा ।
वो तो बहुत प्रसन्न हो गए… ख़ुशी के मारे उनके नेत्रों से अश्रु बहने लगे थे… माँगो ! क्या चाहिए… पवनपुत्र !
शनिदेव के मुख से ये सुनकर मैंने इतना ही कहा- जिसके पास “रामनाम” हो… उसे क्या जरूरत कुछ और की ?
और सुनो ! शनिदेव ! जल्दी ही इस सुबेल पर्वत से चले जाओ…
क्यों कि कुछ ही दिनों में प्रभु श्रीराम अपनी सेना को लेकर आने वाले हैं… उस समय तुम राम सेना को अपना मुख मत दिखाना ।
ना ! महावीर ! मैं राम के भक्तों को कैसे अपना मुख दिखा सकता हूँ
पर एक बार… मैं इस लंका को देख लेना चाहता हूँ… मेरी दृष्टि ही ऐसी है कि मैंने अगर देख लिया लंका को तो उजड़ जाएगा ।
हे पवनपुत्र ! आपसे मैं आज बहुत प्रसन्न हूँ… इसलिये मैं ये नियम रखता हूँ आज से जो आपकी पूजा अर्चना से आपको प्रसन्न करेगा… उसके ऊपर मेरा कोई दुष्प्रभाव नही पड़ेगा…
शनिदेव ने कहा ।
देख लो… लंका को और जाओ अपने लोक में… मैंने शनिदेव को कहा…।
कुछ देर तक आँखें बन्द करके बैठे रहे शनिदेव फिर बोले- आप जब लंका जलायेंगे ना… तब मैं इसी पर्वत पर खड़ा होकर सम्पूर्ण लंका को और लंकेश रावण को देखूंगा ।
तब उस राक्षसराज रावण को पता चलेगा कि शनिदेव की दृष्टि कितनी क्रूर होती है…।
भरत भैया ! मैंने शनिदेव को मुक्त किया… और अब रात्रि का समय हो रहा था… तो मैंने नगर में प्रवेश करने का विचार बना लिया था ।
नित्य प्रातः 4 बजे रुद्राभिषेक होता था भगवान शंकर का…
और करने वाला था स्वयं रावण ।
भरत भैया ! मैं जब लंका में घूम रहा था… बहुत छोटा बनके घूम रहा था… अब इतना छोटा कि आप मच्छर के समान समझ लो ।
तब मुझे भगवान शंकर मिले जो रावण के मन्दिर से जा रहे थे कैलाश के लिए… मुझे रावण के मन्दिर से निकलते हुए ब्रह्मा मिले… भरत जी चकित होकर हनुमान जी की बातें सुन रहे हैं…
ओह ! ऐसा था रावण ! भरत जी के मुख से ये बारम्बार निकल रहा है ।
पर भगवान शंकर क्यों आते थे रावण के यहाँ ?
भरत जी ने प्रश्न किया ।
अपनी पूजा करवाने… और एक दिन नहीं नित्य आते थे ।
हनुमान जी ने हँसते हुए कहा ।
भरत जी कुछ सोचने लगे थे…।
हनुमान जी ने कहना जारी रखा – भरत भैया ! रावण नित्य अभिषेक करता था… भगवान शंकर का… और उस रुद्राभिषेक में रावण पिण्डी की पूजा… या अभिषेक नही करता था… साक्षात् भगवान शंकर को ही बुलवाता था… और वह सुबह-सुबह 4 बजे हाजिर हो जाते थे… ले भाई ! कर ले मेरी पूजा ।
भरत जी हँसे… पर ये तो जिद्द हुयी ना ?
हाँ… रावण ऐसा जिद्दी था… जिससे इसके इष्ट स्वयं भगवान शंकर भी डरते थे अगर इस उपासक की बात इसके इष्ट ने नही मानी तो ये अपना गला काट कर चढ़ाना शुरू कर देगा…।
भरत जी हनुमान जी की बातें सुनकर चकित थे ।
ब्रह्मा जी क्यों आते थे नित्य रावण के पास ? भरत जी का प्रश्न ।
उस अभिषेक में वेदों के मन्त्र कौन पढ़ेगा ?
हनुमान जी ने हँसते हुए भरत जी को ये बात बताई ।
अरे भरत भैया ! अपना पुरोहित बना लिया था ब्रह्मा जी को ।
मैंने ये सब देखा… रावण का वैभव देखा… पूरी लंका ही सोने की थी… सुवर्ण की ।
लंका के मार्ग में… हीरे, मोती, पन्ना… अन्य अमूल्य धातुएं जड़ी हुयी थीं… भरत भैया ! मार्ग में ।
चौराहे, चौराहे में… वीणा बजाती हुयी सरस्वती की मूर्ति थी ।
मैं सबको देखता हुआ आगे की ओर बढ़ता जा रहा था…।
मैं स्वयं मुग्ध था रावण की उस लंका को देखकर…।

I have heard that Lanka used to be golden, there Ravana used to keep big gods as prisoners, is this true?
It used to rain in Lanka whenever it wanted because Varun was a prisoner of the deity Ravana… Is this thing true?
Hanuman ji is smiling in his heart after listening to Bharat ji’s question.
Hanuman ! I have also heard that Indra etc. gods were also under Ravana’s control… because Indra was won by his son Meghnad only.
Hanuman ji said to Bharat ji – Brother Bharat! All your words are true… Ravana was like this only.
Let me tell you my incident…
When I crossed the ocean and had set my feet in Lanka… Then a huge mountain appeared in front of me… “Subel” was the name of that mountain… It was evening time… I thought it would not be appropriate to enter Lanka city now… Why That in the light of the day all the saints appear to be Mahatmas, the reality is visible in the darkness of the night. And anyway this was Lanka… there were more people who got drunk after drinking alcohol in the evening itself… then their intoxication will increase further in the night… then I will know their reality…
Brother Bharat! Thinking like this… I did not go to the city of Lanka at that time, I started climbing the top of that mountain named Subel because this mountain top was such… If someone climbed it, the whole of Lanka could be seen from here.
Brother Bharat! The second reason for climbing this mountain was also… that the thought came in my mind that when Lord Shri Ram would bring the army to Lanka, where would be the center of all of them? This mountain named Subel seemed right to me… and later Lord Shri Raghavendra Sarkar had made this Subel mountain the main center of his army after listening to me.
I went… I kept on climbing, the climb to the top of this mountain was so difficult… that it was beyond the power of an ordinary human being to climb it….
I kept climbing… and as soon as I reached the top of the mountain… suddenly a terrible shadow rushed to kill me from behind, I had slipped two steps back.
But when that shadow saw me, it itself hesitated and went backwards.
Who ? Who are you ? I asked while going ahead.
It was going to be sunset… I saw him in that light… So I was also shocked…
God of death!
Bharat Bhaiya! He was death itself… the god of death…
Bharat ji should be shocked… Kaal?
Yes brother Bharat! And to my utter astonishment I saw that the feet of death were bound with chains.
You have been made a prisoner?… but who has so much power!
Brother Bharat! I could not understand who can bind death?
Bowing his head, Mrityu Dev said – Ravana has made me a prisoner… and has ordered me to kill whoever climbs this hill….
Ravana has brought me from Yamraj’s place.
And because of my coming here… now Yamraj himself has to do my work. Mrityu Dev had told me all these things.
Brother Bharat! I thought Ravana was intelligent because this mountain was such that whoever comes to Lanka for the first time… he must climb this Subel mountain… without climbing this mountain you cannot see Lanka at all….
And when someone climbs this mountain… he will surely die… because Ravana had placed the god of death here.
I open… your chains! I bowed down and untied the bonds… While giving me many blessings, the god of death had gone to his Yamraj.
Brother Bharat! I wanted Subel mountain empty because I had to arrange the Lord’s army here.
I was looking around the mountain…
Then another black man came in front of me…
That man bowed his head and was saluting me…
Who are you ? how do you live here
You are not looking like a monster… Then how in the city of these monsters?
I had to ask… I could not recognize him.
You are the messenger of Shri Ram, aren’t you?
Yes… I am the messenger of Ram… but who are you? I asked .
I am the son of the sun whose dynasty you are the servant of Shri Ram.
Oh ! Lord Shani!… I folded my hands.
But has Ravana made you a prisoner here too?
Answering my question, Shanidev said-
I do come in everyone’s life… but Ravana is a great scholar of astrology, this Ravana has left behind even Rishi Bhrigu… You must know about “Ravana Samhita”!
Shani Dev told his point… Ravana has tied me too.
Seven and a half years comes in everyone’s life…not only once, it comes thrice…then after that I keep coming for two and a half years….
But this Ravana did research on astrology in such a way… that I have no influence on neither my seven and a half sati… nor Dhaiya Lanka….
They have tied me up and given me in this Lanka.
I have been given the responsibility of seeing the enemies of Lanka.
Then why are you not looking at me? I said to Shani Dev.
How can I see you… You are the protector of us gods…
I know that you had put my own father Suryadev in your mouth thinking it to be a fruit in childhood.
I have heard a lot about you from my mother, she told me that there is a monkey… Mahavir, he once swallowed your father too…
But after this my mother never got tired of talking about your devotion to God… My mother’s name is “Chhaya”.
Go ! Now go Shani Dev! Take ! I have opened these chains of yours.
You are now free from the bondage of Ravana… go to your own world.
I told Shani Dev.
He became very happy… tears started flowing from his eyes because of happiness… Ask! What do you want… Son of wind!
After hearing this from the mouth of Shani Dev, I only said this much – the one who has “Ram Naam”… what does he need anything else?
and listen ! Shani Dev ! Quickly leave this subel mountain…
Because Lord Shri Ram is going to come with his army in a few days… At that time don’t show your face to Ram Sena.
No ! Mahavir ! How can I show my face to the devotees of Rama
But once… I want to see this Lanka… My vision is such that if I see Lanka it will be ruined.
Oh son of wind! I am very happy with you today… That’s why I keep this rule from today onwards who will make you happy by worshiping you… I will not have any side effect on him…
Shanidev said.
See… Lanka and go to your world… I told Shani Dev….
Shani Dev kept sitting with his eyes closed for some time and then said – When you will burn Lanka… Then I will stand on this mountain and see the whole of Lanka and Lankesh Ravana.
Then that demon king Ravana will know how cruel is the sight of Shani Dev….
Brother Bharat! I freed Shani Dev… and now it was night time… So I had made up my mind to enter the city.
Every morning at 4 am Rudrabhishekam of Lord Shiva was.
And the one who did it was Ravana himself.
Brother Bharat! When I was roaming in Lanka… I was roaming around being very small… Now so small that you can consider it like a mosquito.
Then I found Lord Shankar who was going from Ravana’s temple to Kailash… I found Brahma coming out of Ravana’s temple… Bharat ji is amazed listening to Hanuman ji’s words…
Oh ! Ravana was like this! This is coming out again and again from Bharat ji’s mouth.
But why did Lord Shankar come to Ravana’s place?
Bharat ji asked a question.
He used to come regularly to get his worship done… and not for a single day.
Hanuman ji said smilingly.
Bharat ji started thinking something….
Hanuman ji continued to say – Brother Bharat! Ravana used to perform Abhishek daily… of Lord Shankar… and in that Rudrabhishek Ravana did not worship Pindi… or did not perform Abhishek… He used to call only Lord Shankar… and he used to appear at 4 in the morning… Take it brother! Do my worship
Bharat ji laughed… But this is stubbornness, isn’t it?
Yes… Ravana was so stubborn… that even Lord Shankar himself was afraid of his favorite.
Bharat ji was surprised to hear the words of Hanuman ji.
Why did Brahma ji come to Ravana everyday? Bharat ji’s question.
Who will recite the mantras of the Vedas in that consecration?
Hanuman ji laughingly told this thing to Bharat ji.
Hey brother Bharat! He had made Brahma ji his priest.
I saw all this… saw the splendor of Ravana… the whole of Lanka was of gold… of gold.
On the way to Lanka… diamonds, pearls, emeralds… other precious metals were studded… Bharat Bhaiya! On the way .
There was an idol of Saraswati playing Veena at the crossroads.
I was moving forward looking at everyone….
I myself was mesmerized seeing that Lanka of Ravana….
