पंचांग के अनुसार, हर एक दिन किसी न किसी देवी- देवता को समर्पित है। इसी तरह रविवार का दिन भगवान सूर्य को समर्पित है। सूर्यदेव ब्रह्मांड के कर्ता- धर्ता ही नहीं है बल्कि नवग्रहों के राजा भी है। इसलिए रोजाना सूर्यदेव की पूजा करने से जीवन में खुशियां ही खुशियां आती हैं।
शास्त्रों के अनुसार माना जाता है कि नियमित रूप से सूर्यदेव की पूजा करने से पुण्य की प्राप्ति होती है। इसलिए सुबह-सुबह उगते हुए सूर्य को प्रणाम करने के साथ स्नान आदि करने के बाद अर्घ्य देना चाहिए। प्रस्तुत है सूर्यदेव को अर्घ्य देने की सही विधि एवं मंत्र-
सुबह के समय सभी कामों से निवृत्त होकर स्नान कर लें। इसके बाद उगते हुए सूर्य के दर्शन करते हुए जल अर्पित करना चाहिए। इसके लिए एक तांबे के लोटे में जल लें और उसमें सिंदूर, अक्षत, लाल फूल डाल लें।
अब सूर्य को अर्घ्य देने के लिए पूर्व दिशा की ओर मुख करके (आपके सामने जिधर सूर्य का होना हो) दोनों हाथों को ऊपर करके धीरे धीरे जल अर्पित करें। इस जल को आप गमला या फिर किसी बर्तन में कर सकते हैं, जिससे यह आपके पैरों के नीचे न आए। अर्घ्य देने के साथ मंत्र का जाप करें।
अर्घ्य देते समय इस बात का ध्यान रखें कि अंगूठा और तर्जनी आपस में न मिले और कोई भी उंगली पानी को स्पर्श न करें।
शास्त्रों के अनुसार, सूर्यदेव को तीन बार जल चढ़ाने की परंपरा है। पहले एक बार अर्घ्य करें। इसके बार परिक्रमा करें। फिर अर्घ्य दें और फिर परिक्रमा करें और फिर अर्घ्य दें। साधारण शब्दों में कहें तो तीन बार अर्घ्य देने के साथ तीन बार परिक्रमा करें।
सूर्यदेव का मंत्र-
भगवान सूर्य को अर्घ्य देते समय सूर्यदेव के इन मंत्रो का जाप करें।
ॐ ह्रीं ह्रीं सूर्याय सहस्रकिरणराय मनोवांछित फलम् देहि देहि स्वाहा।।
ॐ ऐहि सूर्य सहस्त्रांशों तेजो राशे जगत्पते।
अनुकंपयेमां भक्त्या, गृहाणार्घय दिवाकर।।
ऊं ब्रह्म स्वरुपिणे सूर्य नारायणे नमः।।
सूर्य देव के १२ नाम-
सूर्यदेव के इन १२ नामों का जाप करना भी बहुत शुभ होता है।
ॐ सूर्याय नम:, ॐ मित्राय नम:, ॐ रवये नम:, ॐ भानवे नम:, ॐ खगाय नम:, ॐ पूष्णे नम:, ॐ हिरण्यगर्भाय नम:, ॐ मारीचाय नम:, ॐ आदित्याय नम:, ॐ सावित्रे नम:, ॐ अर्काय नम:, ॐ भास्कराय नमः।

According to the Panchang, every single day is dedicated to one or the other deity. Similarly Sunday is dedicated to Lord Surya. Sun God is not only the creator of the universe but also the king of the nine planets. That’s why worshiping Sun God daily brings only happiness in life.
According to the scriptures, it is believed that by worshiping the Sun God regularly, virtue is attained. That’s why Arghya should be offered early in the morning after saluting the rising sun and taking bath etc. Presenting the correct method and mantra of offering Arghya to Sun God-
After retiring from all the work in the morning, take a bath. After this, water should be offered while seeing the rising sun. For this, take water in a copper pot and put vermilion, akshat, red flowers in it.
Now to offer arghya to the sun, offer water slowly by raising both hands by facing the east direction (where the sun should be in front of you). You can put this water in a pot or any vessel, so that it does not come under your feet. Chant the mantra along with offering Arghya.
While offering Arghya, keep in mind that the thumb and forefinger should not meet and neither finger should touch the water.
According to the scriptures, there is a tradition of offering water to the Sun God thrice. First do Arghya once. Go around it. Then offer Arghya and then circumambulate and then offer Arghya. In simple words, circumambulate thrice along with offering Arghya thrice.

Chant these mantras of Sun God while offering Arghya to Lord Surya.
Oṁ hr̥iṁ hr̥iṁ suryaya sahasrakiranaya grant me the fruit desired by my mind.
Om Aihi Surya Sahasransho Tejo Rashe Jagatpate.
Have mercy on her with devotion, accept her offerings, O sun.
