दोहा
प्रनतपाल रघुबंसमनि ,
त्राहि त्राहि अब मोहि।
आरत गिरा सुनत प्रभु ,
अभय करेंगे तोहि॥20॥

भावार्थ, और ‘हे शरणागत के पालन करने वाले रघुवंश शिरोमणि श्री रामजी! मेरी रक्षा कीजिए, रक्षा कीजिए।’ इस प्रकार आर्त प्रार्थना करो।आर्त पुकार सुनते ही प्रभु तुमको निर्भय कर देंगे॥20॥

चौपाई
रे कपिपोत बोलु संभारी।
मूढ़ न जानेहि मोहि सुरारी॥
कहु निज नाम जनक कर भाई।
केहि नातें मानिऐ मिताई॥1॥

भावार्थ, रावण ने कहा अरे बंदर के बच्चे, संभालकर बोल! मूर्ख! मुझ देवताओं के शत्रु को तूने जाना नहीं अरे भाई! अपना और अपने बाप का नाम तो बता। किस नाते से मित्रता मानता है। 1

अंगद नाम बालि कर बेटा,
तासों कबहुं भई ही भेंटा॥
अंगद बचन सुनत सकुचाना।
रहा बालि बानर मैं जाना॥2॥

भावार्थ, अंगद ने कहा मेरा नाम अंगद है, मैं बालि का पुत्र हूं। उनसे कभी तुम्हारी भेंट हुई थी? अंगद का वचन सुनते ही रावण कुछ सकुचा गया (और बोला-) हाँ, मैं जान गया (मुझे याद आ गया), बालि नाम का एक बंदर था॥2॥

अंगद तहीं बालि कर बालक।
उपजेहु बंस अनल कुल घालक॥
गर्भ न गयहु ब्यर्थ तुम्ह जायहु।
निज मुख तापस दूत कहायहु॥3॥

भावार्थ, अरे अंगद! तू ही बालि का लड़का है? अरे कुलनाशक! तू तो अपने कुलरूपी बांस के लिए अग्नि रूप ही पैदा हुआ! गर्भ में ही क्यों न नष्ट हो गया तू व्यर्थ ही पैदा हुआ जो अपने ही मुंह से तपस्वियों का दूत कहलाया!॥3॥

अब कहु कुसल बालि कह अहई।
बिहसि बचन तब अंगद कहई॥
दिन दस गएँ बालि पहिं जाई।
बूझेहु कुसल सखा उर लाई॥4॥

भावार्थ, अब बालि की कुशल तो बता, वह (आजकल) कहां है? तब अंगद ने हँसकर कहा- दस कुछ दिन बीतने पर स्वयं ही बालि के पास जाकर, अपने मित्र को हृदय से लगाकर, उसी से कुशल पूछ लेना॥4॥

राम बिरोध कुसल जसि होई।
सो सब तोहि सुनाइहि सोई॥
सुनु सठ भेद होइ मन ताकें।
श्री रघुबीर हृदय नहिं जाकें॥5॥

भावार्थ, श्री रामजी से विरोध करने पर जैसी कुशल होती है, वह सब तुमको वे सुनावेंगे। हे मूर्ख! सुन, भेद उसी के मन में पड़ सकता है, भेद नीति उसी पर अपना प्रभाव डाल सकती है। जिसके हृदय में श्री रघुवीर न हों॥5॥

दोहा :
हम कुल घालक सत्य तुम्ह,
कुल पालक दससीस।
अंधउ बधिर न अस कहहिं
नयन कान तव बीस॥21॥

भावार्थ, सच है, मैं तो कुल का नाश करने वाला हूंऔर हे रावण! तुम कुल के रक्षक हो। अंधे-बहरे भी ऐसी बात नहीं कहते, तुम्हारे तो बीस नेत्र और बीस कान हैं!॥21॥

चौपाई :
सिव बिरंचि सुर मुनि समुदाई।
चाहत जासु चरन सेवकाई॥
तासु दूत होइ हम कुल बोरा।
अइसिहं मति उर बिहर न तोरा॥1॥

भावार्थ:- शिव, ब्रह्मा (आदि) देवता और मुनियों के समुदाय जिनके चरणों की सेवा (करना) चाहते हैं, उनका दूत होकर मैंने कुल को डुबा दिया? अरे ऐसी बुद्धि होने पर भी तुम्हारा हृदय फट नहीं जाता॥1॥

सुनि कठोर बानी कपि केरी।
कहत दसानन नयन तरेरी॥
खल तव कठिन बचन सब सहऊं।
नीति धर्म मैं जानत अहऊं॥2॥

भावार्थ, वानर अंगद की कठोर वाणी सुनकर रावण आंखें तरेरकर तिरछी करके बोला अरे दुष्ट! मैं तेरे सब कठोर वचन इसीलिए सह रहा हूं कि मैं नीति और धर्म को जानता हूं उन्हीं की रक्षा कर रहा हूं॥2॥

कह कपि धर्मसीलता तोरी।
हमहुं सुनी कृत पर त्रिय चोरी॥
देखी नयन दूत रखवारी।
बूड़ि न मरहु धर्म ब्रतधारी॥3॥

भावार्थ, अंगद ने कहा- तुम्हारी धर्मशीलता मैंने भी सुनी है। वह यह कि तुमने पराई स्त्री की चोरी की है! और दूत की रक्षा की बात तो अपनी आंखों से देख ली। ऐसे धर्म के व्रत को धारण (पालन) करने वाले तुम डूबकर मर नहीं जाते!॥3॥

कान नाक बिनु भगिनि निहारी।
छमा कीन्हि तुम्ह धर्म बिचारी॥
धर्मसीलता तव जग जागी।
पावा दरसु हमहुं बड़भागी॥4॥

भावार्थ, नाक-कान से रहित बहिन को देखकर तुमने धर्म विचारकर ही तो क्षमा कर दिया था! तुम्हारी धर्मशीलता जगजाहिर है। मैं भी बड़ा भाग्यवान्‌ हूं जो मैंने तुम्हारा दर्शन पाया?॥4॥

Doha Pranatpal Raghubansamani, Trahi trahi now Mohi. Aart fell, Sunat Prabhu, Abhay will do it.20॥

Meaning, and ‘O Raghuvansh Shiromani Shri Ramji, the follower of the surrendered! Protect me, protect me. Pray Aarta like this. The Lord will make you fearless as soon as you hear the call of Aarta.20॥

quadruped Hey Kapipot bolu sambahari. A fool does not know why he is seduced. Should I say my name Janak, brother? Some relations should be erased.1॥

Meaning, Ravana said, Hey monkey child, speak carefully! Idiot You don’t know me, the enemy of the gods, oh brother! Please tell me your name and your father’s name. On what basis does one consider friendship? 1

Angad named Bali’s son, Tason kabhun bhai hi bheta॥ Angad hesitated when he heard the words. I remained a sacrificial monkey.

Meaning, Angad said, my name is Angad, I am the son of Bali. Did you ever meet him? As soon as Ravana heard Angad’s words, he felt a little hesitant (and said -) Yes, I knew (I remembered), there was a monkey named Bali.॥2॥

Angad tahin bali kar balak. Upjehu bans anal kul ghalaka॥ Don’t go pregnant, you go in vain. Nij Mukh Tapas Dut Kahayahu॥3॥

Meaning, Hey Angad! Are you the son of Bali? Hey Total Destroyer! You were born in the form of fire for your family form of bamboo! Why didn’t you get destroyed in the womb itself? You were born in vain and were called the messenger of ascetics with your own mouth!॥3॥

Now tell me what Kusal Bali will say. Laughing words then Angad said. Day ten went to the sacrifice. Bujhehu kusal sakha ur lai॥4॥

Meaning, now tell me about Bali’s well-being, where is he (these days)? Then Angad laughed and said – After ten days, go to Bali yourself, hug your friend to your heart and ask him about his well being.4॥

Ram’s opposition became like Kusal’s. So everything is told to me. Listen, there are sixty differences in your mind. Shri Raghubir Hridaya Nahi Nahi ॥5॥

Meaning, he will narrate to you everything that happens when you oppose Shri Ramji. O fool! Listen, discrimination can affect his mind, the policy of discrimination can have its impact on him. Who does not have Shri Raghuveer in his heart॥5॥

Doha: Hum Kul Ghalak Satya Tumh, Total guardians ten. Andhau badhir na as kahhin Your eyes and ears are twenty.

Meaning, it is true, I am the destroyer of the clan and O Ravana! You are the protector of the clan. Even the blind and deaf don’t say such things, you have twenty eyes and twenty ears!॥21॥

Chaupai: Siva Biranchi Sur Muni Samudai. Desire for spy service. Tasu doot hoi hum kul bora. Aisihan mati ur bihar na tora॥1॥

Meaning:- By being the messenger of Shiva, Brahma (etc.), the community of gods and sages whose feet they want to serve, have I drowned the clan? Hey, even with such intelligence, your heart does not burst.1॥

Listen harsh bani kapi keri. My eyes are full of tears. Even if the words are difficult, I will bear everything. I know the policy and religion॥2॥

Meaning, after hearing the harsh words of the monkey Angad, Ravana squinted his eyes and said, Oh wicked! I am tolerating all your harsh words because I know the ethics and religion and am protecting them only.॥2॥

Tell me your religiousness. We heard Krit but Triya Chori. Saw the angel guarding the eyes. Don’t die old, follow the religion ॥3॥

Meaning, Angad said- I have also heard about your religiousness. That is that you have stolen from another woman! And I saw with my own eyes the issue of protecting the messenger. You who observe the fast of such religion do not die by drowning!॥3॥

My sister looked at me without ears and nose. I am sorry for you, you poor religion. Righteousness was awakened then. Pava Darsu Hum Hum Badbhaagi॥4॥

Meaning, after seeing your sister without nose and ears, you forgave her only after considering her religion. Your righteousness is well known. I am also very fortunate that I got your darshan?॥4॥ Jai Shri Sitaram ji
