Lord Ramji is standing in the sand after crossing the Ganges with Sita, Lakshman and Nishadraj. They are worried that the boatman has not been paid the wages for ferrying him across, there is nothing nearby, what should he give? Mithileshkumari Sita sensed the confused state of Lord’s mind, she immediately took off the beautiful pearl ring from her hand and extended it towards the Lord. The Lord smilingly said to the boatman – ‘Boatman! Take your landing, take it.’ Being overcome with love, the boatman hugged the Lord’s feet and said – ‘Lord! What did I not get today? I don’t know how many births I have been working as a labourer, today God has paid off all the principal amount along with interest. I have been so blessed by you that now I have no desire to achieve anything.’

The boatman further said – ‘Lord! I had already told you that I will not take relief from you; Because you and I are going to do the same thing. Does one sailor take unloading from another sailor? Maharaj ! I am also a sailor and you are also a sailor. Today you came to my ghat, I took you across. When I come to your ghat, please be merciful! Don’t forget, you will definitely cross this bottomless worldly ocean.’ How cleverly the boatman did his job.

Consider – when does a living being reach such a situation when it has no desire to achieve anything? Can such a situation ever arise in the life of an ordinary living being? After all, what is the goal of living life? Attainment of God. And the boatman attained God. Now what else does he need? But he is not yet satisfied with seeing God. That is why, with the desire to see him again, he is inviting the Lord to come again.
