लंका प्रवेश के लिए समुंद्र पर सेतु निर्माण के समय भगवान श्रीराम ने रामेश्वरम में महादेव को प्रसन्न करने के लिए स्वयं शिवलिंग की स्थापना की और भगवान शिव का आह्वान किया था।
भगवान शिव के लिए श्रीराम ने जो स्तुति गाई थी उसे ही शम्भु स्तुति कहा जाता है। भगवान श्री राम द्वारा रचित इस शम्भु स्तुति का उल्लेख ब्रह्म पुराण में मिलता है।
श्रीराम रचित शम्भु स्तुति
श्रीराम उवाच।
नमामि शम्भुं पुरुषं पुराणं नमामि सर्वज्ञमपारभावम्।
नमामि रुद्रं प्रभुमक्षयं तं नमामि शर्वं शिरसा नमामि।।१।।
हिंदी अर्थ-
मैं पुराणपुरुष शम्भु को नमस्कार करता हूँ। जिनकी असीम सत्ता का कहीं पार या अन्त नहीं है, उन सर्वज्ञ शिव को मैं प्रणाम करता हूँ। अविनाशी प्रभु रुद्र को नमस्कार करता हूँ। सबका संहार करने वाले शर्व को मस्तक झुकाकर प्रणाम करता हूँ।
नमामि देवं परमव्ययंतं उमापतिं लोकगुरुं नमामि।
नमामि दारिद्रविदारणं तं नमामि रोगापहरं नमामि।।२।।
हिंदी अर्थ-
अविनाशी परमदेव को नमस्कार करता हूँ। लोकगुरु उमापति को प्रणाम करता हूँ। दरिद्रता को विदीर्ण करने वाले शिव को नमस्कार करता हूँ। रोगों का विनाश करने वाले महेश्वर को प्रणाम करता हूँ।
नमामि कल्याणमचिन्त्यरूपं
नमामि विश्वोद्ध्वबीजरूपम्।
नमामि विश्वस्थितिकारणं तं
नमामि संहारकरं नमामि।।३।।
हिंदी अर्थ-
जिनका रूप चिन्तन का विषय नहीं है, उन कल्याणमय शिव को नमस्कार करता हूँ। विश्व की उत्पत्ति के बीजरूप भगवान भव को प्रणाम करता हूँ। जगत का पालन करने वाले परमात्मा को नमस्कार करता हूँ। संहारकारी रुद्र को नमस्कार करता हूँ, नमस्कार करता हूँ।
नमामि गौरीप्रियमव्ययं तं नमामि नित्यं क्षरमक्षरं तम्।
नमामि चिद्रूपममेयभावं त्रिलोचनं तं शिरसा नमामि।।४।।
हिंदी अर्थ-
पार्वतीजी के प्रियतम अविनाशी प्रभु को नमस्कार करता हूँ। नित्यक्षर-अक्षरस्वरूप शंकर को प्रणाम करता हूँ। जिनका स्वरूप चिन्मय है और अप्रमेय है, उन भगवान त्रिलोचन को मैं मस्तक झुकाकर बारम्बार नमस्कार करता हूँ।
नमामि कारुण्यकरं भवस्या
भयंकरं वापि सदा नमामि।
नमामि दातारमभीप्सितानां
नमामि सोमेशमुमेशमादौ।।५।।
हिंदी अर्थ-
करुणा करने वाले भगवान शिव को प्रणाम करता हूँ तथा संसार को भय देने वाले भगवान भूतनाथ को सर्वदा नमस्कार करता हुँ। मनोवांछित फलों के दाता महेशवर को प्रणाम करता हूँ। भगवती उमा के स्वामी श्रीसोमनाथ को नमस्कार करता हूँ।
नमामि वेदत्रयलोचनं तं
नमामि मूर्तित्रयवर्जितं तम्।
नमामि पुण्यं सदसद्व्यतीतं
नमामि तं पापहरं नमामि।।६।।
हिंदी अर्थ-
तीनों वेद जिनके तीन नेत्र हैं, उन त्रिलोचन को प्रणाम करता हूँ। त्रिविध मूर्ति से रहित सदाशिव को नमस्कार करता हूँ। पुण्यमय शिव को प्रणाम करता हूँ। सत्-असत् से पृथक् परमात्मा को नमस्कार करता हूँ। पापों को नष्ट करने वाले भगवान हर को प्रणाम करता हूँ।
नमामि विश्वस्य हिते रतं तं
नमामि रूपाणि बहूनि धत्ते।
यो विश्वगोप्ता सदसत्प्रणेता
नमामि तं विश्वपतिं नमामि।।७।।
हिंदी अर्थ-
जो विश्व के हित में लगे रहते हैं, बहुत-से रूप धारण करते हैं, उन भगवान शंकर को मैं प्रणाम करता हूँ। जो संसार के रक्षक तथा सत् और असत् के निर्माता हैं, उन विश्वपति (भगवान् विश्वनाथ ) को मैं नमस्कार करता हूँ, नमस्कार करता हूँ।
यज्ञेश्वरं सम्प्रति हव्यकव्यं
तथागतिं लोकसदाशिवो यः।
आराधितो यश्च ददाति सर्वं
नमामि दानप्रियमिष्टदेवम्।।८।।
हिंदी अर्थ-
हव्य-कव्य स्वरूप यज्ञेश्वर को नमस्कार करता हूँ। सम्पूर्ण लोकों का सर्वदा कल्याण करने वाले जो भगवान शिव आराधना करने पर उत्तम गति एवं सम्पूर्ण अभीष्ट वस्तुएँ प्रदान करते हैं, उन दानप्रिय इष्टदेव को मैं नमस्कार करता हूँ।
नमामि सोमेश्वरंस्वतन्त्रं
उमापतिं तं विजयं नमामि।
नमामि विघ्नेश्वरनन्दिनाथं
पुत्रप्रियं तं शिरसा नमामि।।९।।
हिंदी अर्थ-
भगवान सोमनाथ को प्रणाम करता हूँ। जो स्वतन्त्र न रहकर भक्तों के वश रहते हैं, उन विजयशील उमानाथ को मैं नमस्कार करता हूँ। विघ्नराज गणेश तथा नन्दी के स्वामी पुत्रप्रिय भगवान् शिव को मैं मस्तक झुकाकर प्रणाम करता हूँ।
नमामि देवं भवदुःखशोकविनाशनं चन्द्रधरं नमामि।
नमामि गंगाधरमीशमीड्यम् उमाधवं देववरं नमामि।।१०।।
हिंदी अर्थ-
संसार के दुःख और शोक का नाश करने वाले देवता भगवान चन्द्रशेखर को मैं बारम्बार नमस्कार करता हूँ। जो स्तुति करने योग्य और मस्तक पर गंगा जी को धारण करने वाले हैं, उन महेश्वर को नमस्कार करता हूँ। देवताओं में श्रेष्ठ उमापति को प्रणाम करता हूँ।
नमाम्यजादीशपुरन्दरादिसुरासुरैरर्चितपादपद्मम।
नमामि देवीमुखवादनाना मिक्षार्थमक्षित्रितयं य ऐच्छत।।११।।
हिंदी अर्थ-
सभी देवता जिनके कर-कमलों की पूजा करते हैं, उन भगवान को मैं नमस्कार करता हूँ। जिन्होंने पार्वतीदेवी के मुख से निकलने वाले वचनों पर दृष्टिपात करने की इच्छा से मानो तीन नेत्र धारण कर रखे हैं, उन भगवान को प्रणाम करता हूँ।
पंचामृतैर्गन्धसुधूपदीपैर्विचित्रपुष्पैर्विविधैश्च मन्त्रैः।
अन्नप्रकारैः सकलोपचारैः सम्पूजितं सोममहं नमामि।।१२।।
हिंदी अर्थ-
पंचामृत, चन्दन, उत्तम धूप, दीप, भाँति-भाँति के विचित्र पुष्प, मन्त्र तथा अन्न आदि समस्त उपचारों से पूजित भगवान सोम को में नमस्कार करता हूँ।

At the time of construction of the bridge across the sea to enter Lanka, Lord Shri Ram himself established Shivalinga in Rameshwaram to please Mahadev and invoked Lord Shiva.
The praise that Shri Ram sang for Lord Shiva is called Shambhu Stuti. This Shambhu Stuti composed by Lord Shri Ram is mentioned in Brahma Purana.
Shambhu stuti composed by Sri Rama
Sri Rama said. I bow to Shambhu, the ancient Purusha, I bow to the omniscient, infinite Being. I bow to Rudra, the inexhaustible lord, I bow to him, I bow to Lord Shiva with my head.
Hindi meaning- I salute the ancient man Shambhu. I bow to the omniscient Shiva whose infinite power has no end or end. I salute the immortal Lord Rudra. I bow my head and pay my respects to Sharva, the destroyer of all.
I bow to the supremely inexhaustible Lord Umapati, the teacher of the worlds. I bow to Him who breaks poverty, I bow to Him who takes away disease, I bow to Him.
Hindi meaning- I salute the immortal Supreme God. I salute Lokguru Umapati. I salute Shiva who destroys poverty. I salute Maheshwar who destroys diseases.
I bow to the unthinkable form of welfare I bow to the form of the seed of the universe. I bow to Him who is the cause of the universe I bow to the destroyer, I bow to him.
Hindi meaning- I salute the auspicious Shiva whose form is not the subject of contemplation. I bow to Lord Bhava, the seed of the origin of the world. I salute the God who maintains the world. I salute the destroyer Rudra, I salute him.
I bow to Him, dear to Gauri, inexhaustible, I bow to Him, ever imperishable, imperishable. I bow to the form of consciousness, the immeasurable being, the three-eyed, I bow to Him with my head.
Hindi meaning- I salute the immortal Lord, the beloved of Parvatiji. I salute Shankar in the form of letters every day. I bow my head and salute that Lord Trilochan again and again, whose form is beautiful and immeasurable.

I bow to him who has the three eyes of the Vedas I bow to Him who is devoid of the three idols. I bow to the holy transcendental cause and effect I bow to Him who takes away sins.
Hindi meaning- I bow to Trilochan, who has three eyes in the three Vedas. I salute Sadashiv who is devoid of the triple idol. I salute the virtuous Shiva. I salute the God who is separate from good and evil. I bow to the Lord who destroys sins.
I bow to him who is engaged in the welfare of the world I bow to him who takes on many forms. He is the protector of the universe and the pioneer of good and evil I bow to him, I bow to him, Lord of the universe.
Hindi meaning- I salute Lord Shankar who takes many forms and is engaged in the welfare of the world. I salute and salute the Lord of the World (Lord Vishwanath) who is the protector of the world and the creator of truth and untruth.
The Lord of the sacrifices is now the poem of the sacrifice He who is the Sadashiva of the worlds in the Tathagata. Worshiped and who gives everything I bow to the dear god who loves charity.
Hindi meaning- I salute Yajneshwar in the form of sacred poetry. I salute that charitable Ishtadev, who always does good to the entire world and who grants good speed and all the desired things when Lord Shiva is worshipped.
I bow to the Lord of the moon, the independent I bow to that victory of Umapati. I bow to Vighnesvara Nandi Natha I bow my head to him who is dear to his son.
Hindi meaning- I salute Lord Somnath. I salute that victorious Umanath who is not independent but remains under the control of his devotees. I bow my head and pay my respects to Lord Shiva, the Lord of all obstacles, Ganesh and the beloved son of Nandi.
I bow to the god who destroys your suffering and sorrow, I bow to the moon-bearer. I bow to Gangadhar, the worshipable Lord, I bow to Umadhava, the best of the gods.
Hindi meaning- I repeatedly salute Lord Chandrashekhar, the God who destroys the sorrow and grief of the world. I salute Maheshwar who is worthy of praise and who bears Ganga ji on his head. I bow to Umapati, the best among the gods.
I bow to the lotus feet worshiped by Jadisha, Purandara and other demigods and demons. I bow to him who desired the three worlds for the sake of mixing the playing of the goddess’s mouth.
Hindi meaning- I salute the Lord whose lotus flowers are worshiped by all the gods. I bow to the Lord who seems to have three eyes with the desire to look at the words coming from the mouth of Goddess Parvati.
Five nectars, fragrant incense, lamps, wonderful flowers and various mantras. I offer my obeisances to the moon worshiped with all kinds of food and all rituals.
Hindi meaning- I salute Lord Som, worshiped with all the remedies like Panchamrit, sandalwood, excellent incense, lamps, various strange flowers, mantras and food etc.
