patriotism of a young man
Swami Vivekananda was traveling from one country to another in those days. During this time he went on a trip to Japan. Swamiji visited many places in Japan. One day he was going to a city in Japan by sitting in a train. On the way, he wished to have fruit. He searched for fruits at many stations in between, but fruits were not available anywhere. Swamiji got a bit disappointed. And it came out of his mouth spontaneously – ‘What kind of country is this, where even fruits are not available?’
The Japanese youth sitting next to him felt very bad about this. He knew where the fruits were found. He got down at the next station and brought a lot of fruits for Swamiji. He very lovingly offered those fruits to Swamiji. Swamiji thanked him heartily and asked the price of the fruits, but the young man did not answer. Then Swamiji said to him – ‘Look brother! Don’t hesitate You haven’t brought them without paying for them. That’s why feel free to tell their price, otherwise it will be difficult for me to consume these fruits.’
Then the young man politely
Said – ‘ Swamiji! Its value is that you should not go to your country and say that fruits are not available in my country Japan. Hearing this, Swamiji became convinced of the patriotism of the Japanese youth. The essence of the story is that protecting the prestige of our country in any form is patriotism, which is the ultimate responsibility of every citizen.
