हिंदू धर्म में नरक चतुर्दशी के पर्व का बहुत खास महत्व होता है। इसे छोटी दिवाली, रूप चौदस, नरक चौदस, रूप चतुर्दशी अथवा नरका पूजा के नामों से भी जाना जाता है।
इस दिन मृत्यु के देवता यमराज और भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की पूजा का विधान है। रूप चौदस के दिन संध्या के समय दीपक जलाए जाते हैं और चारों ओर रोशनी की जाती है।
नरक चतुर्दशी का पूजन अकाल मृत्यु से मुक्ति और स्वास्थ्य सुरक्षा के लिए किया जाता है। हर साल यह पर्व कार्तिक माह के कृष्ण पक्ष की चतुर्दशी तिथि पर मनाया जाता है। यानी यह पर्व दिवाली के एक दिन पहले और धनतेरस के एक दिन बाद आता है।
लेकिन इस बार नरक चतुर्दशी की सही तिथि को लेकर असमंजस की स्थिति बनी हुई है। ऐसे में प्रस्तुत है नरक चतुर्दशी की सही तिथि एवं यम दीपक जलाने का सही समय-
नरक चतुर्दशी २०२३ तिथि-
कार्तिक मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की चतुर्दशी तिथि की शुरुआत ११ नवंबर २०२३ को दोपहर ०१ बजकर ५७ मिनट से हो रही है। इस तिथि का समापन अगले दिन १२ नवंबर २०२३ को दोपहर ०२ बजकर ४४ मिनट पर होगा।
छोटी दिवाली यानी नरक चतुर्दशी के लिए प्रदोष काल ११ नवंबर को प्राप्त हो रहा है, इसलिए छोटी दिवाली ११ नवंबर को मनाई जाएगी। ऐसे में जो लोग मां काली, हनुमान जी और यम देवता की पूजा करते हैं वे ११ नवंबर को नरक चतुर्थी यानी छोटी दिवाली का पर्व मनाएंगे।
वहीं नरक चतुर्दशी या रूप चौदस के दिन रूप निखारा जाता है, जिसके लिए प्रात: काल यानी सूर्योदय से पूर्व स्नान की परंपरा है। इसलिए उदया तिथि को देखते हुए कुछ लोग नरक चतुर्दशी १२ नवंबर को मानाएंगे। इसी दिन बड़ी दिवाली भी है।
नरक चतुर्दशी २०२३ पर यमदीपक जलाने का समय-
नरक चतुर्दशी पर प्रदोष काल में यम दीपक जलाई जाती है, इसलिए ११ नवंबर को यम दीपक जलाई जाएगी। इस दिन शाम को ०५ बजकर ३२ मिनट से सूर्यास्त होगा, उसके साथ ही प्रदोष काल शुरू हो जाएगा। ऐसे में आप शाम ०५ बजकर ३२ मिनट से यम का दीपक जला सकते हैं।
अभ्यंग स्नान का समय-
अभ्यंग स्नान के लिए उदया तिथि महत्वपूर्ण मानी जाती है नरक चतुर्दशी की उदया तिथि १२ नवंबर को प्राप्त हो रही है। इस दिन अभ्यंग स्नान का समय सुबह ०५ बजकर २८ मिनट से ०६ बजकर ४१ मिनट तक है। नरक चतुर्दशी पर सूर्योदय के पूर्व शरीर पर उबटन लगाकर स्नान करने की प्रक्रिया को अभ्यंग स्नान कहा जाता है।
काली चौदस २०२३ की पूजा का मुहूर्त-
नरक चतुर्दशी पर मां काली की पूजा रात में करते हैं। काली चौदस की पूजा का समय ११ नवंबर को है। इस दिन पूजा का मुहूर्त रात ११ बजकर ४५ मिनट से देर रात १२ बजकर ३९ मिनट तक है।
हनुमान पूजा २०२३ मुहूर्त-
नरक चतुर्दशी के दिन हनुमानजी की भी पूजा करने की परंपरा है। इस साल नरक चतुर्दशी पर हनुमान पूजा ११ नवंबर को रात में होगी। हनुमान पूजा का शुभ मुहूर्त रात ११ बजकर ४५ मिनट से देर रात १२ बजकर ३९ मिनट तक है।
नरक चतुर्दशी २०२३ की पूजा विधि-
नरक चतुर्दशी के दिन सूर्योदय से पहले स्नान करके साफ कपड़े पहन लें।
नरक चतुर्दशी के दिन यमराज, श्री कृष्ण, काली माता, भगवान शिव, हनुमान जी और विष्णु जी के वामन रूप की विशेष पूजा की जाती है।
घर के ईशान कोण में इन सभी देवी देवताओं की प्रतिमा स्थापित करके विधि पूर्वक पूजन करें।
देवताओं के सामने धूप दीप जलाएं, कुमकुम का तिलक लगाएं और मंत्रों का जाप करें।
नरक चतुर्दशी से जुड़ी मान्यता-
नरक चतुर्दशी के दिन यम देवता का पूजन अकाल मृत्यु से मुक्ति के लिए किया जाता है। वहीं पौराणिक मान्यताओं के अनुसार इसी दिन भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने नरकासुर नामक असुर का बध किया था। साथ ही इस दिन उबटन लगाकर स्नान किया जाता है, इसलिए इसे रूप चौदस भी कहा जाता है।
नरक चतुर्दशी के उपाय-
नरक चतुर्दशी के दिन यमराज के नाम से दीपक जलाएं और इसे दक्षिण दिशा में रखें।
मान्यता है कि यम के नाम का यह दीपक जलाने से पाप नष्ट होते हैं।
दक्षिण दिशा पितरों की दिशा मानी जाती है। ऐसे में इस दिशा में दीपक जलाने से पितरों का आशीर्वाद मिलता है।
साथ ही नरक चतुर्दशी के दिन अपने घर के बाहर भी कम से कम ०५ या ०७ दीपक जलाएं।

The festival of Narak Chaturdashi has very special significance in Hindu religion. It is also known by the names of Chhoti Diwali, Roop Chaudas, Narak Chaudas, Roop Chaturdashi or Naraka Puja.
On this day, there is a tradition of worshiping Lord Yamraj, the god of death, and Lord Shri Krishna. On the day of Roop Chaudas, lamps are lit in the evening and lights are illuminated all around.
Narak Chaturdashi is worshiped for freedom from untimely death and health protection. Every year this festival is celebrated on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. That means this festival falls a day before Diwali and a day after Dhanteras.
But this time there is confusion regarding the exact date of Narak Chaturdashi. In such a situation, the exact date of Narak Chaturdashi and the right time to light the Yama lamp is presented-
Narak Chaturdashi 2023 date-
Chaturdashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month is starting from 01:57 pm on 11th November 2023. This date will end the next day on 12th November 2023 at 02:44 PM.
Pradosh Kaal for Chhoti Diwali i.e. Narak Chaturdashi is being received on 11th November, hence Chhoti Diwali will be celebrated on 11th November. In such a situation, those who worship Maa Kali, Hanuman ji and Yama Devta will celebrate the festival of Narak Chaturthi i.e. Chhoti Diwali on 11th November.
Whereas on the day of Narak Chaturdashi or Roop Chaudas, the appearance is enhanced, for which there is a tradition of taking bath in the morning i.e. before sunrise. Therefore, considering Udaya Tithi, some people will celebrate Narak Chaturdashi on 12th November. Big Diwali is also on this day.
Time to light Yamdeepak on Narak Chaturdashi 2023-
Yama lamp is lit on Narak Chaturdashi during Pradosh Kaal, hence Yama lamp will be lit on 11th November. On this day, sunset will occur at 05:32 in the evening, with which Pradosh Kaal will begin. In such a situation, you can light the Yama lamp from 05:32 in the evening.
Abhyanga bath time-
Udaya Tithi is considered important for Abhyanga bath. Udaya Tithi of Narak Chaturdashi is falling on 12th November. The timing of Abhyanga bath on this day is from 05:28 am to 06:41 am. The process of taking bath by applying ubtan on the body before sunrise on Narak Chaturdashi is called Abhyang Snan.
Timing of worship of Kali Chaudas 2023-
Mother Kali is worshiped at night on Narak Chaturdashi. The worship time of Kali Chaudas is on 11th November. The puja time on this day is from 11:45 pm to 12:39 pm.
Hanuman Puja 2023 Muhurat-
There is a tradition of worshiping Hanumanji on the day of Narak Chaturdashi. This year Hanuman Puja will be held on Narak Chaturdashi at night on 11th November. The auspicious time for Hanuman Puja is from 11:45 pm to 12:39 pm.
Worship method of Narak Chaturdashi 2023-
On the day of Narak Chaturdashi, take bath before sunrise and wear clean clothes.
On the day of Narak Chaturdashi, special worship of Yamraj, Shri Krishna, Kali Mata, Lord Shiva, Hanuman ji and Vaman form of Vishnu ji is done.
Install the idols of all these Gods and Goddesses in the north-east corner of the house and worship them properly.
Light incense lamps in front of the deities, apply kumkum tilak and chant mantras.
Beliefs related to Narak Chaturdashi-
On the day of Narak Chaturdashi, Lord Yama is worshiped for salvation from untimely death. According to mythological beliefs, on this day Lord Shri Krishna had killed the demon named Narakasura. Also on this day, one takes bath by applying ubtan, hence it is also called Roop Chaudas.
Remedies for Narak Chaturdashi-
On the day of Narak Chaturdashi, light a lamp in the name of Yamraj and keep it in the south direction.
It is believed that by lighting this lamp in the name of Yama, sins are destroyed.
South direction is considered the direction of ancestors. In such a situation, lighting a lamp in this direction brings blessings from the ancestors.
Also, on the day of Narak Chaturdashi, light at least 05 or 07 lamps outside your house.
