गुरु पूर्णिमा आषाढ़ में क्यों? गुरु पूर्णिमा पर क्या करें!
आषाढ़ पूर्णिमा को वेद व्यासजी का अवतरण हुआ था. उन्होंने ही वेद-पुराणों से परिचित कराया, ईश्वर और मनुष्य के बीच सेतु बने. इसलिए आषाढ़ पूर्णिमा गुरू पूर्णिमा हुई. वेद व्यास जी अवतार हैं, आषाढी पूर्णिमा को तो चंद्रमा बादलों में छुपा ही रहता है उसी दिन क्यों! शरद पूर्णिमा जब चंद्रमा सबसे युवा और सबसे ज्यादा आकर्षक होता है, उस दिन गुरू पूर्णिमा क्यों नहीं!
आकाश में घिरे बादल जीव का प्रतीक हैं और चंद्रमा गुरू का. शिष्य जब गुरू के पास आता है तो वह आषाढी बादल की तरह अज्ञान के अंधकार में डूबा रहता है. गुरु अपनी ज्ञान की रोशनी से उसे दूध जैसा धवल बनाता है. दोनों का मिलन ही सार्थकता है. जो गुरुमुख हैं अर्थात जिन्होंने गुरू बनाए हैं उन्हें गुरू पूर्णिमा को गुरु की विधिवत पूजा करनी चाहिए. जिनके गुरू नहीं हैं वे जगदगुरू श्रीकृष्ण या पूरी सृष्टि के गुरू शिवजी में गुरु को देखें.
ज्योतिषशास्त्र गुरु पूर्णिमा को बहुत अहम मानता है. कुंडली में गुरु ग्रह प्रतिकूल हैं तो जीवन उतार-चढ़ाव से भरा रहता है. ऐसे लोगों के लिए गुरु पूर्णिमा पर कुछ उपाय कहे गए हैं-
स्नान के बाद नाभि तथा मस्तक पर केसर का तिलक लगाएं.
साधु, ब्राह्मण एवं पीपल के वृक्ष की पूजा करें।
गुरु पूर्णिमा के दिन स्नान के जल में नागरमोथा नामक वनस्पति डालकर स्नान कर लें.
घर में पीले फूलों के पौधे लगाएं और पीला रंग उपहार में दें.
केले के दो पौधे विष्णु भगवान के मंदिर में लगाएं।
गुरु पूर्णिमा के दिन साबूत मूंग मंदिर में दान करें और 12 वर्ष से छोटी कन्याओं के चरण स्पर्श करके उनसे आशीर्वाद लें.
साधु संतों का भूले से भी अपमान न करें.

After bath, apply saffron tilak on the navel and forehead.
Worship sages, Brahmins and Peepal tree.
On the day of Guru Purnima, take a bath by adding a plant called Nagarmotha in the bath water.
Plant plants of yellow flowers in the house and give yellow color as a gift.
Plant two banana plants in the temple of Lord Vishnu.
Donate whole moong in the temple on the day of Guru Purnima and take blessings from girls below 12 years by touching their feet.
