जब भी हम भगवान कृष्ण या राम चन्द्र जी के दर्शन करते है तो अक्सर मन में ये बात आती है कि भगवन कृष्ण नील वर्ण के क्यों हैं ?’
भगवान ने गीता में स्वयं ही कहा है, “हे अर्जुन ! एक मेरा शरणागत हो जा मैं हर पाप से मुक्ति दूँगा, शोक न कर मेरी भक्ति में खो जा।”
सन्त कहते हैं कि जब कोई भक्त भगवान के पास जाता है और अपने आप को उन्हें समर्पित कर देता है तो भगवान उसके समस्त पापों को ले लेते हैं, और पाप का स्वरुप काला है।
जब कोई भक्त भगवान को अपने पाप देता है तो पाप का अस्तित्व रखने के लिए भगवान कुछ काले हो गए। जैसे भगवान शिव जी ने जब समुद्र मंथन से निकले विष को पिया और उसे गले में धारण कर लिया तो विष के अस्तित्व रखने के लिए उसकी मर्यादा के लिए उनका कंठ नीला हो गया और वे नीलकंठ हो गए। उनका एक नाम नीलकंठेश्वर हो गया।
कही-कही ऐसा भी कहते हैं कि जल समूह अथाह अनन्त गहराइयों और विस्तार को लिए हुए होता है तब उसमे नीलिमा झलकती है। ऐसे ही निर्मल प्रेम के सागर श्री कृष्ण, आदि-अनन्त विस्तार लिए हुए हैं। यही कारण है कि श्री कृष्ण नील वर्ण हैं।
राम के नीले वर्ण और कृष्ण के काले रंग के पीछे एक दार्शनिक रहस्य है। भगवानों का यह रंग उनके व्यक्तित्व को दर्शाते हैं। दरअसल इसके पीछे भाव है कि भगवान का व्यक्तित्व अनन्त है। उसकी कोई सीमा नहीं है, वे अनन्त है। ये अनन्तता का भाव हमें आकाश से मिलता है। आकाश की कोई सीमा नहीं है। वह अंतहीन है। राम और कृष्ण के रंग इसी आकाश की अनन्तता के प्रतीक हैं।
भक्तजन कहते है कि जब भगवान ने कालिया का दमन किया तो उसके विष का मान रखने के लिए वे कुछ संवारे हो गए। यशोदा जी से जब बाल कृष्ण पूछते हैं, “मैया ! तू गोरी है, नंद बाबा भी गोरे है, दाऊ भी गोरे है, फिर मै क्यों काला हूँ ?” तो यशोदा जी कहती हैं, “लाला ! कि काली अन्धयारी रात में तेरा जन्म हुआ, रात काली है, इसलिए तू काला है। तूने काली पद्मगंधा गाय का दूध पिया है, इसलिए काला है।
भगवान का एक नाम है “श्याम सुन्दर” कितना प्यारा नाम है, जो काले रंग को भी सुन्दर बना दे, श्याम अर्थात काला और सुन्दर जो गोरा होता है उसे तो सभी सुन्दर कहते हैं, पर हमारे श्याम सुन्दर तो ऐसे है जो काले होने पर भी सुन्दर हैं।
Whenever we see Lord Krishna or Ram Chandra ji, it often comes to mind that why Lord Krishna is of blue color? The Lord Himself has said in the Gita, “O Arjuna! One take refuge in Me, I will give you freedom from every sin, do not grieve and get lost in my devotion.” Saints say that when a devotee approaches the Lord and surrenders himself to Him, the Lord takes away all his sins, and the form of sin is black. When a devotee gives his sins to the Lord, the Lord has become somewhat black for the existence of sin. Like when Lord Shiva drank the poison that came out of the churning of the ocean and held it in his throat, his throat turned blue for the dignity of the poison to exist and he became neelkanth. One of his names became Neelkantheshwar. Somewhere it is also said that when the water body is carrying the infinite depth and expansion, then the blue color appears in it. In the same way, Shri Krishna, the ocean of pure love, has taken eternal expansion. This is the reason why Shri Krishna is indigo color. There is a philosophical mystery behind Rama’s blue complexion and Krishna’s black complexion. These colors of the Gods reflect their personality. Actually, there is a feeling behind this that the personality of God is eternal. He has no limits, he is eternal. We get this sense of infinity from the sky. There is no limit to the sky. He is endless. The colors of Rama and Krishna symbolize the infinity of this sky. Devotees say that when the Lord suppressed Kaliya, he got some grooming to keep the value of his poison. When Bal Krishna asks Yashoda ji, “Maya! You are fair, Nanda Baba is also fair, Dau is also fair, then why am I black?” So Yashoda ji says, “Lala! That black dark night you were born, the night is black, therefore you are black. You have drank black padmagandha cow’s milk, therefore you are black. One of the names of God is “Shyam Sundar”. What a lovely name, which can make even the black complexion beautiful, Shyam means black and the beautiful one who is fair is called beautiful by all, but our shyam is such a beautiful person who is black when he is black. are beautiful too.
