वैशाख मास के शुक्लपक्ष की एकादशी को मोहिनी एकादशी कहते हैं। ऐसा विश्वास जाता है कि यह तिथि सब पापों को हरने वाली और उत्तम है। इस दिन जो व्रत रहता है उसके व्रत के प्रभाव से मनुष्य मोहजाल तथा पातक समूह से छुटकारा पा जाते हैं।
मोहिनी एकादशी व्रत 12 मई, गुरूवार को रखा जाएगा। यह दिन मोहिनी एकादशी के नाम से इसलिए जाना जाता है क्योंकि इस दिन विष्णु भगवान के मोहिनी स्वरूप की पूजा की जाती है। विधि-विधान से पूजा करने से सभी दुख कष्ट दूर हो जाते हैं। मान्यता अनुसार इस दिन व्रत कथा पाठ करने से पुण्य मिलता है।
संसार में आकर मनुष्य केवल प्रारब्ध का भोग ही नहीं भोगता अपितु वर्तमान को भक्ति और आराधना से जोड़कर सुखद भविष्य का निर्माण भी करता है। एकादशी व्रत का महात्म्य भी हमें इसी बात की ओर संकेत करता है।
वैशाख शुक्ल एकादशी यानी मोहिनी एकादशी पर भगवान विष्णु की आराधना करने से जहां सुख-समृद्धि बढ़ती है वहीं शाश्वत शांति भी प्राप्त होती है।
अत: इस दिन व्रत-उपवास रखकर मोह-माया के बंधन से मुक्त होने के लिए यह एकादशी बहुत लाभदायी है।
स्कंद पुराण के अनुसार मोहिनी एकादशी के दिन समुद्र मंथन में निकले अमृत का बंटवारा हुआ था। स्कंद पुराण के अवंतिका खंड में शिप्रा को अमृतदायिनी, पुण्यदायिनी कहा गया। अत: मोहिनी एकादशी पर शिप्रा में अमृत महोत्सव का आयोजन किया जाता है।
अवंतिका खंड के अनुसार मोहिनी रूपधारी भगवान विष्णु ने अवंतिका नगरी में अमृत वितरण किया था। देवासुर संग्राम के दौरान मोहिनी रूप रखकर राक्षकों को चकमा दिया और देवताओं को अमृत पान करवाया। यह दिन देवासुर संग्राम का समापन दिन भी माना जाता है।
विष्णु पुराण के अनुसार मोहिनी एकादशी का विधिवत व्रत करने से मनुष्य मोह-माया के बंधनों से मुक्त हो जाता है। साथ ही व्रती के समस्त पापों का नाश हो जाता है।

Worshiping Lord Vishnu on Vaishakh Shukla Ekadashi i.e. Mohini Ekadashi increases happiness and prosperity and eternal peace.
Therefore, this Ekadashi is very beneficial to get rid of the bondage of attachment and delusion by fasting on this day.
According to Skanda Purana, on the day of Mohini Ekadashi, the nectar that came out during the churning of the ocean was distributed. In the Avantika section of Skanda Purana, Shipra is called Amritdayini, Punyadayini. Therefore, on Mohini Ekadashi, Amrit Mahotsav is organized in Shipra.
According to the Avantika section, Lord Vishnu in the form of Mohini had distributed nectar in the city of Avantika. During the Devasura Sangram, taking the form of Mohini, dodged the demons and made the gods drink nectar. This day is also considered to be the concluding day of Devasura Sangram.
According to Vishnu Purana, by observing the fast of Mohini Ekadashi, a person becomes free from the bondage of illusion and delusion. At the same time, all the sins of the fasting person get destroyed.
