कच्चा बर्तन

संत- मण्डलीके साथ ज्ञानेश्वर महाराज गोरा कुम्हारके घर आये। नामदेव भी साथ थे। ज्ञानदेवने गोरासे कहा तुम कुशल कुम्भकार हो बताओ, इनमेंसे कौन-सा बर्तन कच्चा है ?’

गोराने पिटनी लेकर पीटना शुरू कर दिया। सभी संत मार खाकर भी शान्त रहे। नामदेवकी बारी आयी तो वे एकदम बिगड़ उठे घट गोरा बोला यही कच्चा भाजन है।’

नामदेव बड़े ही दुखी हुए। सब संतोंके बीच गोराद्वारा किये गये अपमानकी उन्होंने भगवान्से शिकायत की।

भगवान्ने कहा ‘नामा! सच है कि तू मेरा परम भक्त है और मैं तेरे लिये सदा सब कुछ करनेको तैयार रहता हूँ। फिर भी तुझसे मेरे तेरेका भेद न मिटनेसे तू कच्चा ही है। वह तो बिना गुरुकी शरण गये मिट नहीं सकता। शिवालयमें विठोबा खेचर परम संत हैं। उनके पास जाकर ज्ञान प्राप्त कर आ।’

नामदेव विठोबाके पास गये। विठोबा सो रहे थे। उनके पैर शिवकी पिण्डीपर धरे देख नामदेवको बड़ी अश्रद्धा हुई। उसने सोचा-क्या ऐसे ही अधिकारीसेज्ञान पानेकी प्रभुने मुझे सलाह दी। क्या यही ‘प्रथमग्रासे मक्षिकापातः ?’ आखिर नामदेव कह ही बैठे-‘महाशय, आप बड़े।

संत कहलाते हैं और शङ्करकी पिण्डीपर पैर धरते हैं। विठोबाने कहा – ‘नामा! मैं बूढ़ा जर्जर हो गया हूँ। तुम्हीं मेरे पैर उठाकर उस जगह रख दो, जहाँ शिवकी पिण्डी न हो।

नामदेवने उनके पैर पकड़कर पिण्डीसे उतार अन्यत्र रखे। वहाँ भी शिवकी पिण्डी दीख पड़ी। वह जहाँ-जहाँ उनके पैर उठाकर रखता वहीं सर्वत्र शिवकी पिण्डिका दीख पड़ती। नामदेव असमंजसमें पड़ गया। उसने विठोबा खेचरके चरण पकड़ सर्वत्र शिव-ही-शिव दीख पड़नेकी बात कही और इसका रहस्य पूछा।

विठोबाने नामदेवके सिरपर अभय कर रखकर | अद्वैतका बोध नामदेवकी द्वैतबुद्धि मिट गयी। दूसरे दिन संत-सभाके बीच भगवान्ने नामदेवको | लक्ष्यकर संतोंसे सगर्व कहा- अब यह भाजन भी पक्का बन गया।

Dnyaneshwar Maharaj came to Gora Kumhar’s house with a group of saints. Namdev was also with him. Gyandev said to Gora, you are a skilled potter, tell me, which of these utensils is raw?’
Gorane started beating him with a stick. All the saints remained calm even after being beaten. When it was Namdev’s turn, he got upset and said, ‘Ghat Gora, this is raw food.’
Namdev was very sad. He complained to God about the insult done by Goradwara in the midst of all the saints.
God said ‘ Nama! It is true that you are my supreme devotee and I am always ready to do everything for you. Still, you are raw because the difference between you and me does not end. It cannot be eradicated without taking refuge in the Guru. Vithoba Khechara is the ultimate saint in Shivalaya. Go to him and get knowledge.
Namdev went to Vithoba. Vithoba was sleeping. Seeing his feet resting on Shiva’s pindi, Namdev felt great faith. He thought – did God advise me to get knowledge from such an officer. Is this ‘Prathamgrase Makshikapatah’? After all, Namdev just said – ‘Sir, you are big.
They are called saints and they step on Shankar’s pindi. Vithoba said – ‘ Nama! I am worn out old. You lift my feet and put them in a place where there is no Shiva’s pindi.
Namdev held his feet and removed him from Pindi and kept him elsewhere. Shiv’s pindi was seen there too. Wherever he used to lift his feet, Shiva’s Pindika could be seen everywhere. Namdev got confused. Holding the feet of Vithoba Khechara, he talked about seeing Shiva-only-Shiva everywhere and asked the secret of it.
Vithobane by placing fear on the head of Namdev. Realizing Advaita, Namdev’s duality got erased. On the second day, in the midst of the gathering of saints, Lord Namdev. Lakshyakar said proudly to the saints – Now this hymn has also become firm.
