संत-स्वभाव

एक संत कपड़े सीकर अपना निर्वाह करते थे। एक ऐसा व्यक्ति उस नगरमें था जो बहुत कपड़े सिलवाता था और उनसे ही सिलवाता था; किंतु सदा सिलाईके रूपमें खोटे सिक्के ही देता था। संत चुपचाप उसके सिक्के ले लेते थे। एक बार वे संत कहीं बाहर गये थे। उनकी दूकानपर उनका सेवक था । वह व्यक्ति सिलाई देने आया। सेवकने सिक्का देखा और लौटादिया- ‘यह खोटा है महोदय ! दूसरा दीजिये।’ संत लौटे तो सेवकने कहा-‘अमुक व्यक्ति खोटे सिक्के देकर मुझे ठगने आया था।’

संत बोले- ‘तुमने सिक्का ले क्यों नहीं लिया। वह तो सदा मुझे खोटे सिक्के ही देता है और उन्हें लेकर मैं भूमिमें गाड़ देता हूँ। मैं नहीं लूँ तो कोई दूसरा व्यक्ति ठगा जायगा ।’ – सु0 सिं0

A saint used to make his living by sewing clothes. There was a man in that city who sewed a lot of clothes and sewed them only; But always used to give fake coins in the form of sewing. Saints used to quietly take his coins. Once that saint had gone out somewhere. He had a servant at his shop. That person came to stitch. The servant saw the coin and returned it – ‘It is false, sir! Give me another.’ When the saint returned, the servant said – ‘Some person had come to cheat me by giving false coins.’
Saint said – ‘Why didn’t you take the coin. He always gives me fake coins and I take them and bury them in the ground. If I don’t take it, someone else will be cheated.’ – Su 0 Sin 0
