मित्रकी माता धर्मतः माता होती है
एक बार अयोध्यानरेश श्रीराम, लक्ष्मण और सुग्रीवके साथ लंकापुरी आये। राजा विभीषणका मन्त्रिमण्डल और लंकाके निवासी श्रीरामचन्द्रजीके दर्शनके लिये उत्सुक हो वहाँ आये और विभीषणसे बोले-‘हमें श्रीरामजीका दर्शन करा दीजिये।’ विभीषणने महाराज श्रीरामचन्द्रजीसे उनका परिचय कराया और श्रीरामको आज्ञासे भरतने उन राक्षसपतियोंक द्वारा भेंट दिये हुए धन और रत्नराशिको ग्रहण किया। राजभवन में श्रीरघुनाथजीने तीन दिनतक निवास किया। चौथे दिन जब श्रीरामचन्द्रजी राजसभामें विराजमान थे, राजमाता कैफसीने विभीषणसे कहा- ‘बेटा! मैं भी अपनी बहुओंके साथ चलकर श्रीरामचन्द्रजीका दर्शन करूंगी, तुम उन्हें सूचना दे दो। तुम्हारा बड़ा भाई उनके स्वरूपको नहीं पहचान पाया था। तुम्हारे पिताने देवताओंके सामने पहले ही कह दिया था कि भगवान् श्रीविष्णु रघुकुलमें राजा दशरथके पुत्ररूपसे अवतार लेंगे। वे ही दशग्रीव रावणका विनाश करेंगे।’
विभीषण बोले- माँ! तुम श्रीरघुनाथजीके समीप अवश्य जाओ। मैं पहले जाकर उन्हें सूचना देता हूँ I
यों कहकर विभीषण जहाँ श्रीरामचन्द्रजी थे,
वहाँ गये और वहाँ महाराज रामका दर्शन करनेके लिये आये हुए सब लोगोंको विदा करके उन्होंने सभाभवनको सर्वथा एकान्त बना दिया। फिर श्रीरामसे कहा- ‘महाराज! मेरा निवेदन सुनिये; रावणको कुम्भकर्णको तथा मुझको जन्म देनेवाली मेरी माता कैकसी आपका दर्शन करना चाहती हैं; आप कृपा करके उन्हें दर्शन दें।’
श्रीरामने कहा- ‘मित्र! तुम्हारी माता मेरी भी माता ही हैं, अत: उनका यहाँ आना मर्यादाके अनुरूप नहीं है, मैं माताका दर्शन करनेकी इच्छासे स्वयं ही उनके पास चलूँगा। तुम शीघ्र मेरे आगे-आगे चलो।’ ऐसा कहकर वे चल पड़े। कैकसीके पास पहुँचकर उन्होंने मस्तकपर अंजलि बाँध उन्हें प्रणाम करते हुए कहा—‘माता! मैं आपको प्रणाम करता हूँ। मित्रकी माता होनेके नाते आप धर्मतः मेरी भी माता हैं। जैसे कौसल्या मेरी माता हैं, उसी प्रकार आप भी हैं।’
कैकसी बोली-वत्स! तुम्हारी जय हो, तुम चिरकालतक जीवित रहो। बेटा! तुम्हें अमर यश प्राप्त हो। इस प्रकार मर्यादापुरुषोत्तम श्रीरामने अपने प्रबल वैरीकी जननीको भी माताके समान आदर देकर लोक-व्यवहारकी आदर्श मर्यादाको स्थापित किया।
friend’s mother is mother by religion
Once the king of Ayodhya came to Lankapuri with Shri Ram, Lakshman and Sugriva. King Vibhishan’s cabinet and the residents of Lanka came there eager to see Shri Ramchandraji and said to Vibhishan – ‘Give us the darshan of Shri Ramji.’ Vibhishan introduced him to Maharaj Shri Ramchandraji and accepted the money and gems presented by those monster husbands to fill Shri Ram’s orders. Shri Raghunathji resided in the Raj Bhavan for three days. On the fourth day, when Shri Ramchandraji was sitting in the Raj Sabha, Rajmata Kai said to Vibhishan – ‘Son! I will also walk with my daughters-in-law to have darshan of Shri Ramchandraji, you inform them. Your elder brother could not recognize his form. Your father had already said in front of the deities that Lord Vishnu would incarnate in Raghukul as the son of King Dasaratha. Only he will destroy Dashagriva Ravana.’
Vibhishan said – Mother! You must go near Shrirghunathji. I go and inform them first.
By saying this, Vibhishan where Shriramchandraji was,
He went there and after saying goodbye to all the people who had come there to have a darshan of Maharaj Ram, he made the assembly hall completely secluded. Then said to Shriram – ‘ Maharaj! Hear my request; How my mother, who gave birth to Ravana, Kumbhakarna and me, wants to see you; Please give them darshan.
Shriram said – ‘ Friend! Your mother is my mother too, so her coming here is not according to the dignity, I will go to her myself with the desire to see the mother. You walk ahead of me quickly.’ Saying this they left. After reaching someone, he bowed to her by tying anjali on his head and said – ‘Mother! I salute you Being a friend’s mother, you are also my mother by religion. As Kausalya is my mother, so are you.’
What a quote! Hail to you, may you live forever. Son! May you get eternal fame. In this way, Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram established the ideal dignity of public behavior by giving respect to the mother of his strong enemy as a mother.
