[भज] निताई-गौर राधेश्याम [जप] हरेकृष्ण हरेराम
श्री रूप को प्रयाग में महाप्रभु के दर्शन
देशे देशे दुराशाकवलितहृदयो निष्कृपाणां नराणां
धावं धावं पुरस्तादतिकुमतिरहं जन्म सम्पादयामि।
आधायाध्याय राधाधव तव चरणाम्भोजमन्तः समाधा-
वन्तेऽरण्येऽतिपुण्ये पुलकितवपुषो वासरान् वाहयन्ति।।
गौड़ेश्वर के मन्त्री रूप और सनातन-दोनों भाइयों को पाठक भूले ने होंगे। रामकेलि नामक ग्राम में प्रभु के दर्शन करके और नूतन जन्म पाकर ये दोनों भाई प्रभु से विदा हुए। प्रभु के दर्शनों से ही इनके भीतर छिपी हुई भावुकता और भगवद्भक्ति एकदम प्रस्फुटित हो उठी। इन्हें अपने पूर्वकृत्यों पर पश्चात्ताप होने लगा। साधु-संग से संसार में मनुष्य-शरीर की सार्थकता का बोध होता है और तभी अपने गतजीवन की निरर्थकता का भान होने लगता है। उसी समय हृदय में पश्चात्ताप की अग्नि जलने लगती है, उस अग्नि में पड़कर सुवर्ण के समान मन दहकने लगता है।
पश्चात्तापरूपी अग्नि के उत्ताप से मन का मैल जलकर भस्म हो जाता है और फिर केवल शुद्ध सुवर्ण ही शेष रह जाता है। फिर उसमें मैल का नाम तक नहीं रहता, वह एकदम निर्मल होकर चमकने लगता है, उसी में होकर भगवान के दर्शन होते हैं। दर्शन क्या होते हैं भगवान उसमें आकर विराजमान हो जाते हैं, और फिर उसे अपना घर ही नहीं, कलेवर बना लेते हैं। इसलिये साधु-संग का प्रधान फल पूर्वकृत पापों का पश्चात्ताप ही है। जिसे साधु-संग पाकर भी पश्चात्ताप नहीं हुआ, उसे या तो यथार्थ साधु-संग ही प्राप्त नहीं हुआ या वह पूर्वजन्मकृत पापों का कारण इतना अपात्र है कि अभी उसे चिरकाल तक साधु-सेवा करने की आवश्यकता है। जब भी पूर्वकृत कर्मों के लिये हृदय में घबड़ाहट हो और प्रभु-प्राप्ति के लिये हृदय सदा छटपटाता-सा रहे, तभी समझना चाहिये कि साधु संगति का वास्तविक फल मिल गया।
ये दोनों ही भाई भाग्यवान थे, भगवान के निज जन थे, अनुग्रहसृष्टि के जीव थे। प्रभु के दर्शन मात्र से ही इनकी काया पलट हो गयी। प्रभु के दर्शन करते ही इन्हें पद, प्रतिष्ठा, परिवार, पैसा और प्रिय पदार्थों से एकदम घृणा हो गयी। इनका मनमधुप वृन्दावन की कुंजों में विहार करने के लिये छटपटाने लगा। जिस प्रतिष्ठित पद के लिये संसारी लोग सब कुछ करने के लिये तैयार हो जाते हैं, वही राजमन्त्री का पद उन्हें घोर बन्धन-सा प्रतीत होने लगा। रूप तो लौटकर गौड़ गये ही नहीं। वे अपनी धन-सम्पत्ति को नाव पर लाद कर दस-बीस नौ के साथ अपनी जन्मभूमि फतेहबाद को चले गये। वहाँ जाकर अपना आधा धन तो उन्होंने ब्राह्मण और कंगालों को बांट दिया। कुछ परिवार के लिये रख दिया और दस हजार रूपये गौड़ में एक मोदी की दुकान पर जमा कर दिये।
इधर महाभाग सनातन की दशा रूप से भी अधिक विचित्र हो गयी। वे लौटकर राजधानी में तो गये; किन्तु राजकाज करने में एकदम असमर्थ-से हो गये। सब काम मन से ही होते हैं, मन तो एक ही है, उससे चाहे इस लोक का काम करा लो या परमार्थ के मार्ग का शोधन करा लो। एक मन दो काम कदापि नहीं कर सकता। सनातन जानते थे कि बादशाह मुझे प्राणों से भी अधिक प्यार करता है, यदि मैं एकदम राज मैं एकदम राजकाज से त्यागपत्र दे दूँ, तो बादशाह उसे कदापि स्वीकार न करेगा और फिर आजकल तो उसका उड़ीसा-देश के महाराज से युद्ध छिड़ा हुआ है। वह मेरे ऊपर सबसे आधिक विश्वास रखता है, ऐसे समय में वह मुझे कभी न छोड़ेगा। यह सब सोचकर उन्होंने बादशाह को कहला भेजा- ‘मै बीमार हूँ, राजकाज करने में एकदम असमर्थ हूँ। कुछ समय का अवकाश चाहता हूँ।’
बादशाह को इनकी बीमारी की बड़ी चिन्ता हुई। उसने अपने दरबार के प्रधान हकीम को इनके इलाज के लिये भेजा। वैद्य ने जाकर इनकी नाड़ी देखी किन्तु वह अनाड़ी इनकी नाड़ी को क्या पहचान सकता ? इनकी वेदना को तो कोई परमार्थी वैद्य ही जान सकता था, इस लोक के वैद्यों की पुस्तकों में न तो इस रोग का निदान है और न चिकित्सा। राजवैद्य ने इनसे सम्पूर्ण शरीर की परीक्षा करके कहा- ‘महाशय, मुझे आपके शरीर में कोई रोग दीखता नहीं।’ इस बात को सुनकर सनातन जी मुसकरा दिये, उन्होंने कुछ भी उत्तर नहीं दिया।
दरबारी हकीम ने जाकर बादशाह से कह दिया- ‘श्रीमन! मुझे तो इनके शरीर में कोई रोग दीखा नहीं। वे तो भलेचंगे बैठे हुए पण्डितों से भागवत की कथा सुन रहे हैं। मैंने तो आज तक ऐसा रोगी कोई भी नहीं देखा।’
बादशाह इतना सुनते ही आगबबूला हो गया। वह उसी समय उठकर स्वयं सनातन जी वासस्थान पर पहुँचा। सचमुच सनातन जी बैठे हुए कथा सुन रहे थे। दस-बीस ब्राह्मण पण्डित उनके इधर-उधर बैठे हुए थे।
बादशाह को सहसा अपने यहाँ आते देखकर सनातन जी उठकर खड़े हो गये और उनकी अभ्यर्थना करके उनके बैठने योग्य एक सुन्दर-सा आसन दिया। सबके बैठ जाने पर बादशाह ने कुछ बनावटी व्यग्रता-सी प्रकट करते हुए बोला- ‘मल्लिक महाशय, तुम्हें क्या बीमारी हो गयी हैं ?’
कुछ वैसे ही अन्यमनस्क-भाव से धीरे-धीरे सनातन जी ने कहा- ‘वैसे ही श्रीमन! कुछ तबीयत खराब-सी है। काम करने में बिलकुल जी ही नहीं लगता।’
बादशाह ने कहा- ‘कुछ भी तो बात होगी, मुझे ठीक-ठीक बताओ क्या रोग है क्या बीमारी है और काम में चित्त न लगने का कारण क्या है ?’
उसी तरह से उपेक्षा के भाव से सनातन जी ने कहा- ‘नहीं, कोई खास बात नहीं है। तबीयत ठीक नहीं हैं।’
अब बादशाह अपने रोब को नहीं रोक सका, उसने कड़ककर कहा- ‘राजकाज से तुम्हारी यह लापरवाही ठीक नहीं तुम जानते हो मैं तुम दोनों भाइयों पर कितना अधिक विश्वास रखता हूँ, किन्तु देखता हूँ, तुम दोनों ठीक समय पर ही मुझे धोखा देना चाहते हो। इसे विश्वास घात न कहूँ तो और क्या कहूँ। तुम्हारा भाई यहाँ से भागकर फतेहाबाद चला गया। तुम बीमार न होने पर भी बीमारी का बहाना बनाये घरमें बैठे हो। इस धोखेबाजी के अंदर कौन-सी बात छिपी है, मुझे सच-सच बताओ। तुम्हारी लापरवाही के कारण मेरा सभी राजकाज चौपट हो गया है। तुम्हें राजकाल करना होगा और कभी चलकर अपना काम संभालना होगा।’
अत्यन्त ही नम्रता के साथ किन्तु निर्भीकभाव से सनातन जी ने कहा- ‘श्रीमान! आप जो चाहें सो समझें। मैं सदा आपके हित की बात सोचता रहा हूँ, और अब भी आपका शुभचिन्तक हूँ, किन्तु अब मुझसे राजकाज नहीं हो सकता।’
लाल-लाल आँखें निकालते हुए बादशाह ने कहा- ‘क्यों नहीं हो सकता ?’
उसी प्रकार नम्रता के साथ सनातन ने उत्तर दिया- ‘इसीलिये कि श्रीमन्! अब मेरा मन मेरे वश में नहीं है, वह वृन्दावन की ओर चला गया है।’
बादशाह ने झुँझलाकर कहा- ‘मैं यह सब सुनना नहीं चाहता तुम एक बात बताओ। राजकाज संभालते हो या नहीं ?’
दृढ़ता के साथ सनातन जी ने कहा- ‘मैंने श्रीमान से पहले ही निवेदन कर दिया है कि मैं अब किसी प्रकार राजकाज न कर सकूँगा।’
सनातन जी की इस दृढ़ता को देखकर बादशाह हुसैनशाह एकदम चकित हो गया। जो आज तक सदा हाथ बांधे हुए मेरी आज्ञा की प्रतीक्षा करता रहता था, वही मेरा वेतन भोगी नौकर मेरे सामने इस प्रकार निर्भीक होकर उत्तर दे रहा है। इस बात से उसे क्रोध आया किन्तु असमय में क्रोध प्रकट करना उचित न समझकर बादशाह ने कुछ बनावटी प्रेम प्रदर्शित करते हुए कहा- ‘अच्छा, जाने दो, तुम यहाँ का काम मत करो। मेरे साथ लड़ाई करने उड़ीसा देश को तो चलोगे?’ सनातन जी ने फिर उसी तरह कहा- ‘श्रीमन मुझे किसी खास काम से चिढ़ नहीं है। मुझे तो संसारी जितने काम हैं। सभी काटने को दौड़ते हैं। मैं कुछ भी न कर सकूँगा। आप मुझसे अब किसी प्रकार के काम की आशा न रखें।’
अपने भीषण क्रोध को दबाते हुए और रोष से ओठ चबाते हुए बादशाह ने कहा- ‘शाकिर मल्लिक! तुम होश में होकर बातें कर रहे हो या नशे में? तुम्हें पता है, तुम किससे बातें कर रहे हो ? अपनी बात पर फिर से सोच लो और खूब समझ-सोचकर उत्तर दो।’
सनातन जी ने कहा- श्रीमान! मैंने कोई नशा नहीं किया है। मै खूब होश में होकर बातें कर रहा हूँ। मुझे पता है कि गौड़-देश के एकमात्र स्वतंत्र शासक और बंगाल के अधीश्वर से मैं बातें कर रहा हूँ, जिनकी छोटी-सी आज्ञा से देश-के-देश नष्ट-भ्रष्ट और बरबाद हो सकते हैं। जिनकी आज्ञा निष्फल नहीं हो सकती। श्रीमन! मैंने खूब सोच लिया है और खूब सोचकर ही उत्तर दे रहा हूँ कि मुझसे अब राजकाज किसी भी हालत में न हो सकेगा।’
क्रोध के स्वर में बादशाह ने कहा- ‘तुम जानते हो, तुम्हारी इस धृष्टता का फल क्या होगा ?’
सिर झुकाकर सनातन जी ने कहा- ‘मैं खूब जानता हूँ, यह सिर धड़ से अलग हो जायेगा, श्रीमन! इसकी मुझे तनिक भी परवा नहीं।’
बादशाह आगे कुछ न कह सका। उसने उसी समय क्रोध में भरकर कहा- ‘कोई है?’ फौरन दो सेवक प्रणाम करके बादशाह के सम्मुख खड़े हो गये। बादशाह ने कहा- ‘राज के प्रधान कर्मचारी से कहकर इसे अभी जेल खाने पहुँचाओ।’ राजाज्ञा क्षणभर में ही पालन की गयी। सनातन जी उसी समय राजबन्दी बनाकर कारावास में भेजे गये। इधर बादशाह ऐसी आज्ञा देकर उड़ीसा-प्रान्त में युद्ध करने के लिये चला गया।
अब दूसरे भाई रूपजी की बात सुनिये। अपने भाई के राजबन्दी होने का समाचार सुनने के पूर्व ही उन्होंने प्रभु की खोज के लिये दो नौकर पुरी भेजे थे। उन्होंने आकर समाचार दिया कि प्रभु तो वन के पथ से श्री वृन्दावन की यात्रा करने चले गये हैं। प्रभु के वृन्दावन-गमन का समाचार सुनकर रूप अपने छोटे भाई अनूप (श्रीवल्लभ)- को साथ लेकर प्रभु की खोज में वृन्दावन की ओर चल पड़े। चलते समय वे अपने भाई सनातन के पास एक पत्र इस आशय का भेज गये कि ‘हम श्री चैतन्य की खोज में वृन्दावन जा रहे हैं। हमारा मनमधुप चैतन्य-चरणारविन्दों का मकरन्द पान करने के निमित्त उन्मत्त-सा हो रहा है। अब हम अपने को क्षण भर भी यहाँ नहीं रख सकते। श्रीचैतन्य-चरण जहाँ भी होंगे वहीं जाकर हम उनके शरणापन्न होंगे। आप किसी बात की चिन्ता न करें। मंगलमय श्रीचैतन्य आपका भला करेंगे। वे आप को शीघ्र ही इस कारागार के बन्धन से ही नहीं, संसारी बन्धन से भी उन्मुक्त करेंगे। अमुक मोदी की दुकान पर आप के निमित्त मैं दस हजार रूपये जमा कर चला हूँ। यदि कारावास मुक्ति में उनका कुछ उपयोग हो सके तो कीजिये और शीघ्र ही कारागार से मुक्त होकर व्रज में आकर श्रीचैतन्य-चरणों के दर्शन कीजिये। यह पत्र मैं गुप्त रीति से आप के पास भेज रहा हूँ। मंगलमय भगवान आपका भला करें। गुप्त रीति से यह पत्र सनातन जी के पास पहुँचा। पत्र को पढ़कर उनका चित्त भी श्रीचैतन्य-चरणों के दर्शनों के लिये तड़फड़ाने लगा। वे किसी-न-किसी प्रकार जेल से उन्मुक्त होने का उपाय सोचने लगे। उधर रूप जी अपने भाई अनूप जी के साथ प्रभु की खोज करते हुए काशी होकर प्रयाग पहुँचे। प्रयाग में प्रतिष्ठानपुर (झूसी)- के घाट से पार होकर वे वर्तमान दारागंज के समीप पहुँचे। वहीं उन्हें अनेक आदमियों से घिरे हुए महाप्रभु चैतन्यदेव जी के दर्शन हुए। प्रभु प्रेम में विभोर हुए भक्तों के साथ संकीर्तन-नृत्य करते हुए विन्दुमाधव जी के दर्शन के लिये जा रहे थे। वे दोनों भाई भी उस भीड़ के साथ-ही-साथ हो लिये, महाप्रभु को जो भी नृत्य करते हुए देखता वही उनके साथ चल पड़ता। इस प्रकार विन्दुमाधव जी के दर्शन करके प्रभु लौटे। एक दक्षिणी ब्राह्मण ने उस दिन निमंत्रण किया था।
महाप्रभु उसके यहाँ भिक्षा करने गये। भीड़ हट जाने पर ये दोनों भाई प्रभु के पीछे उस ब्राह्मण के घर में घूस गये। ब्राह्मण ने अपने घर के बाहर छोटे-से उद्यान में पत्थर की चैकी पर प्रभु के लिये आसन बिछाया था। प्रभु उस पर बैठे हुए चारों ओर वाटिका की शोभा को निहार रहे थे कि उसी समय रूप और अनूप इन दोनों भाइयों ने प्रभु के पादपद्मों में साष्टांग प्रणाम किया। रूप को अपने पैरों में प्रणत देखकर प्रभु जल्दी से आसन से उठकर खड़े हो गये और उन्हें बलपूर्वक उठकार छाती से चिपटाते हुए उनके सिर पर अपने कोमल कर फिराने लगे।
महाप्रभु के बैठ जाने पर दोनों भाई प्रभु के पैरों को पकड़े हुए बैठे। प्रभु ने अनूप का परिचय पूछा और सनातन जी के समाचार जानने चाहे। श्री रूप जी ने सभी वृत्तान्त सुनाकर कहा- ‘प्रभो! वे श्री चरणों के दर्शन के लिये कारावास की काली कोठरी में पड़े हुए तड़प रहे होंगे।’
प्रभु ने हंसते हुए कहा- ‘अब वे कारावास में कहाँ, अब तो वे वहाँ से छूट गये होंगे। भगवान करेंगे तो शीघ्र ही तुम दोनों भाइयों की भेंट होगी। अब तुम कुछ काल यहीं मेरे पास रहो’ यह कहकर प्रभु ने अपने पास ही इन दोनों भाइयों को रहने के लिये स्थान दे दिया। बलभद्र भट्टाचार्य ने इन दोनों भाइयों को भोजन कराया और प्रभु का प्रसादी-अन्न भी इन्हें दिया। इस प्रकार ये दोनों ही भाई आनन्द के साथ प्रभु की सेवा में रहने लगे।

Readers must have forgotten both the brothers, Gaudeshwar’s minister Roop and Sanatan. After seeing the Lord in a village named Ramkeli and getting a new birth, these two brothers left the Lord. The hidden sentimentality and devotion to God blossomed within him only after seeing the Lord. He started repenting for his past deeds. The significance of the human body in the world is understood by the company of saints and only then the senselessness of one’s past life begins to be felt. At the same time, the fire of repentance starts burning in the heart, falling into that fire, the mind starts burning like gold.
The filth of the mind is burnt to ashes by the fervor of the fire of repentance, and then only pure gold remains. Then even the name of dirt does not remain in it, it starts shining completely clean, God is seen in it. What are darshans, God comes and resides in it, and then makes it not only His home, but His body. That’s why the main fruit of the company of saints is repentance of past sins. The one who did not repent even after getting the company of a saint, he either did not get the true company of a saint or he is so ineligible due to the sins committed in his previous birth that he still needs to serve a saint forever. Whenever there is panic in the heart for past deeds and the heart is always yearning for God-attainment, then only it should be understood that the real fruit of the company of saints has been received.
Both these brothers were lucky, they were God’s own people, they were creatures of gracious creation. His body changed just by seeing the Lord. As soon as he saw the Lord, he became completely disgusted with position, prestige, family, money and dear things. His Manmadhup started teasing him to roam in the groves of Vrindavan. The prestigious post for which the worldly people are ready to do everything, the same post of Raj Mantri seemed like a severe bondage to them. Roop did not return to Gaur at all. He loaded his wealth and property on a boat and went to his birthplace Fatehabad with ten-twenty-nine. After going there, he distributed half of his wealth to Brahmins and the poor. Kept some for the family and deposited ten thousand rupees at a Modi shop in Gaur.
Here the condition of Mahabhag Sanatan became more strange than its form. They returned to the capital; But he became completely incapable of doing the government work. All work is done by the mind, the mind is only one, whether you get the work of this world done by it or the path of God is purified. One mind can never do two things. Sanatan knew that the king loves me more than life, if I completely resign from the kingship, then the king will never accept it and then nowadays he is fighting with the Maharaja of Odisha. He trusts me the most, he will never leave me at such a time. Thinking all this, he sent a message to the king – ‘I am sick, I am completely unable to do the government. I want some time off.’
The king was very worried about his illness. He sent the chief physician of his court for his treatment. The doctor went and checked his pulse, but how could that clumsy person recognize his pulse? Only a charitable doctor could know their pain, there is neither a diagnosis nor a cure for this disease in the books of the doctors of this world. After examining his whole body, the physician said- ‘Sir, I do not see any disease in your body.’ Sanatan ji smiled after hearing this, he did not answer anything.
The court doctor went and said to the king – ‘Sir! I did not see any disease in his body. They are listening to the story of Bhagwat from the pundits while sitting well. I have never seen such a patient till date.’
The king became enraged on hearing this. He got up at the same time and himself reached the abode of Sanatan ji. Really Sanatan ji was sitting listening to the story. Ten-twenty Brahmin pundits were sitting around them.
Seeing the king suddenly coming to his place, Sanatan ji stood up and offered him a beautiful seat suitable for him to sit. When everyone sat down, the king expressed some artificial anxiety and said – ‘Mallik sir, what ails you?’
Sanatan ji slowly said with some kind of other-mindedness – ‘ Similarly sir! Some are unwell. I do not feel like working at all.
The king said- ‘Anything will happen, tell me exactly what is the disease, what is the disease and what is the reason for not getting engaged in work?’
In the same way, Sanatan ji said with a sense of neglect – ‘No, there is nothing special. I am not feeling well.
Now the king could not stop his anger, he said sternly – ‘This carelessness of yours is not good with the administration, you know how much I trust you two brothers, but I see, both of you want to cheat me at the right time. . If I don’t call it betrayal then what else can I say. Your brother ran away from here and went to Fatehabad. Even though you are not ill, you are sitting at home making an excuse of illness. What is hidden inside this deception, tell me the truth. Because of your carelessness, all my affairs have been destroyed. You will have to reign and sometime you will have to handle your work.
With utmost humility but fearlessly, Sanatan ji said – ‘Sir! Think whatever you want. I have always been thinking of your welfare, and am still your well-wisher, but now I cannot rule.’
Taking out red-red eyes, the king said – ‘Why can’t it be?’
In the same way, Sanatan replied with humility – ‘That’s why sir! Now my mind is not under my control, it has gone towards Vrindavan.’
The king got annoyed and said – ‘ I don’t want to hear all this, you tell me one thing. Do you manage the affairs or not?’
Sanatan ji said with firmness- ‘I have already requested Mr. that I will not be able to do any kind of governance now.’
Emperor Hussain Shah was astonished to see this firmness of Sanatan ji. The one who used to always wait for my orders with folded hands, my salaried servant is answering fearlessly in front of me like this. This made him angry, but not thinking it appropriate to express anger in untimely, the king displayed some artificial love and said- ‘Well, let it go, don’t do the work here. Will you go to Orissa to fight with me?’ Sanatan ji again said in the same way – ‘Sir, I am not irritated by any special work. I have as many worldly works as I can. Everyone runs to bite. I will not be able to do anything. Don’t expect any work from me now.’
Suppressing his fierce anger and biting his lips with fury, the king said – ‘Shakir Mallik! Are you talking in your senses or drunk? Do you know who are you talking to? Think again about your point and answer after thinking a lot.
Sanatan ji said – Sir! I haven’t taken any drugs. I am talking very consciously. I know that I am talking to the only independent ruler of Gauda-desh and the presiding deity of Bengal, whose smallest order can destroy-corrupt and destroy countries. Whose orders cannot fail. Sir! I have thought a lot and after thinking a lot, I am answering that now I will not be able to run the state under any circumstances.’
In a voice of anger, the king said – ‘You know, what will be the result of this audacity of yours?’
Bowing his head, Sanatan ji said – ‘I know very well, this head will be separated from the body, sir! I don’t care at all about it.
The king could not say anything further. At the same time, filled with anger, he said – ‘Is there anyone?’ Immediately two servants bowed down and stood in front of the king. The king said- ‘Tell the chief employee of the kingdom to send him to jail now.’ The king’s order was followed in a moment. At the same time Sanatan ji was made a Rajbandi and sent to prison. Here, after giving such order, the king went to war in Orissa-province.
Now listen to the other brother Roopji. Even before hearing the news of his brother being imprisoned, he had sent two servants to Puri to search for the Lord. They came and informed that the Lord had gone on the path of the forest to visit Shri Vrindavan. Hearing the news of the Lord’s departure to Vrindavan, Roop along with his younger brother Anoop (Shrivallabh) went towards Vrindavan in search of the Lord. While walking, he sent a letter to his brother Sanatan that ‘we are going to Vrindavan in search of Sri Chaitanya. Our Manmadhup Chaitanya-Charanarvind’s nectar is becoming insane for drinking. Now we cannot keep ourselves here even for a moment. Wherever Sri Chaitanya’s feet are, we will go there and take refuge in him. Don’t worry about anything. Auspicious Sri Chaitanya will do good to you. He will soon free you not only from the bondage of this prison, but also from the worldly bondage. I have deposited ten thousand rupees for you at Amuk Modi’s shop. If they can be of some use in liberation from prison, then do so and soon after being freed from prison, come to Vraj and have darshan of Sri Chaitanya’s feet. I am sending this letter to you secretly. Happy God bless you. This letter secretly reached Sanatan ji. After reading the letter, his mind also started yearning for the darshan of Sri Chaitanya’s feet. They started thinking of some way or the other to get out of jail. On the other side Roop ji along with his brother Anoop ji reached Prayag via Kashi while searching for God. After crossing the ghat of Pratishthanpur (Jhusi) in Prayag, they reached near the present Daraganj. There he had a vision of Mahaprabhu Chaitanyadev surrounded by many men. Prabhu was going for the darshan of Vindumadhava ji while doing sankirtan-dance with the devotees who were engrossed in love. Those two brothers also joined the crowd, whoever saw Mahaprabhu dancing, used to walk with them. In this way the Lord returned after seeing Vindumadhava. A Southern Brahmin had invited him that day.
Mahaprabhu went to his place to beg. After the crowd left, these two brothers followed the Lord and entered the house of that Brahmin. The Brahmin had spread a seat for the Lord on a stone post in a small garden outside his house. The Lord was sitting on it admiring the beauty of the garden all around when at the same time these two brothers Roop and Anoop prostrated at the lotus feet of the Lord. Seeing Roop prostrated at his feet, the Lord quickly got up from the seat and forcefully lifted him up and started moving his soft hands on his head while hugging him.
When Mahaprabhu sat down, both the brothers sat holding the feet of the Lord. Prabhu asked the introduction of Anoop and wanted to know the news of Sanatan ji. Shri Roop ji told all the stories and said – ‘ Lord! They must be yearning for the darshan of Shri Charan lying in the black cell of the prison.’
The Lord laughed and said- ‘Now where are they in prison, now they must have been released from there. If God wills, soon both of you brothers will meet. Now you stay here with me for some time. By saying this, the Lord gave a place to these two brothers to stay with him. Balbhadra Bhattacharya fed food to these two brothers and also gave them Prasadi-food of the Lord. In this way both these brothers started living happily in the service of the Lord.
