हनुमान चालीसा कब लिखा गया क्या आप जानते हैं। नहीं तो जानिये, शायद कुछ ही लोगों को यह पता होगा?
पवनपुत्र हनुमान जी की आराधना तो सभी लोग करते हैं और हनुमान चालीसा का पाठ भी करते हैं, पर यह कब लिखा गया, इसकी उत्पत्ति कहाँ और कैसे हुई यह जानकारी बहुत ही कम लोगों को होगी।
बात 1600 ईस्वी की है यह काल अकबर और तुलसीदास जी के समय का काल था।
एक बार तुलसीदास जी मथुरा जा रहे थे, रात होने से पहले उन्होंने अपना पड़ाव आगरा में डाला, लोगों को पता लगा कि तुलसीदास जी आगरा में पधारे हैं। यह सुन कर उनके दर्शनों के लिए लोगों का ताँता लग गया। जब यह बात बादशाह अकबर को पता लगी तो उन्होंने बीरबल से पूछा कि यह तुलसीदास कौन हैं।
तब बीरबल ने बताया, इन्होंने ही रामचरित मानस का अनुवाद किया है, यह रामभक्त तुलसीदास जी है, मैं भी इनके दर्शन करके आया हूँ। अकबर ने भी उनके दर्शन की इच्छा व्यक्त की और कहा मैं भी उनके दर्शन करना चाहता हूँ।
बादशाह अकबर ने अपने सिपाहियों की एक टुकड़ी को तुलसीदास जी के पास भेजा और तुलसीदास जी को बादशाह का पैगाम सुनाया कि आप लालकिले में हाजिर हों। यह पैगाम सुन कर तुलसीदास जी ने कहा कि मैं भगवान श्रीराम का भक्त हूँ, मुझे बादशाह और लालकिले से मुझे क्या लेना-देना और लालकिले जाने के लिए साफ मना कर दिया। जब यह बात बादशाह अकबर तक पहुँची तो बहुत बुरी लगी और बादशाह अकबर गुस्से में लालताल हो गया, और उन्होंने तुलसीदास जी को जंज़ीरों से जकड़बा कर लाल किला लाने का आदेश दिया। जब तुलसीदास जी जंजीरों से जकड़े लाल किला पहुंचे तो अकबर ने कहा की आप कोई करिश्माई व्यक्ति लगते हो, कोई करिश्मा करके दिखाओ। तुलसी दास ने कहा मैं तो सिर्फ भगवान श्रीराम जी का भक्त हूँ कोई जादूगर नही हूँ जो आपको कोई करिश्मा दिखा सकूँ। अकबर यह सुन कर आगबबूला हो गया और आदेश दिया की इनको जंजीरों से जकड़ कर काल कोठरी में डाल दिया जाये।
दूसरे दिन इसी आगरा के लालकिले पर लाखों बंदरों ने एक साथ हमला बोल दिया, पूरा किला तहस नहस कर डाला। लालकिले में त्राहि-त्राहि मच गई, तब अकबर ने बीरबल को बुला कर पूछा कि बीरबल यह क्या हो रहा है, तब बीरबल ने कहा हुज़ूर आप करिश्मा देखना चाहते थे तो देखिये। अकबर ने तुरंत तुलसीदास जी को कल कोठरी से निकलवाया। और जंजीरे खोल दी गई। तुलसीदास जी ने बीरबल से कहा मुझे बिना अपराध के सजा मिली है।
मैंने काल कोठरी में भगवान श्रीराम और हनुमान जी का स्मरण किया, मैं रोता जा रहा था। और रोते-रोते मेरे हाथ अपने आप कुछ लिख रहे थे। यह 40 चौपाई, हनुमान जी की प्रेरणा से लिखी गई हैं। कारागार से छूटने के बाद तुलसीदास जी ने कहा जैसे हनुमान जी ने मुझे कारागार के कष्टों से छुड़वाकर मेरी सहायता की है उसी तरह जो भी व्यक्ति कष्ट में या संकट में होगा और इसका पाठ करेगा, उसके कष्ट और सारे संकट दूर होंगे। इसको हनुमान चालीसा के नाम से जाना जायेगा।
अकबर बहुत लज्जित हुए और तुलसीदास जी से माफ़ी मांगी और पूरी इज़्ज़त और पूरी हिफाजत, लाव-लश्कर से मथुरा भिजवाया।
आज हनुमान चालीसा का पाठ सभी लोग कर रहे हैं। और हनुमान जी की कृपा उन सभी पर हो रही है। और सभी के संकट दूर हो रहे हैं। हनुमान जी को इसीलिए “संकट मोचन” भी कहा जाता है

Everyone worships Hanuman, the son of wind, and also recites Hanuman Chalisa, but very few people would know when it was written, where and how it originated.
It is about 1600 AD, this period was the time of Akbar and Tulsidas ji.
Once Tulsidas ji was going to Mathura, before nightfall he made his stop in Agra, people came to know that Tulsidas ji had arrived in Agra. Hearing this, people started flocking to have his darshan. When Emperor Akbar came to know about this, he asked Birbal who this Tulsidas was.
Then Birbal told, he has translated Ramcharit Manas, this is Rambhakt Tulsidas ji, I have also come after seeing him. Akbar also expressed his desire to see him and said that I also want to see him.
Emperor Akbar sent a group of his soldiers to Tulsidas ji and conveyed the king’s message to Tulsidas ji that you should be present in the Red Fort. After listening to this message, Tulsidas ji said that I am a devotee of Lord Shri Ram, what I have to do with the king and the Red Fort and refused to go to the Red Fort. When this matter reached Emperor Akbar, he felt very bad and Emperor Akbar became very angry, and he ordered Tulsidas ji to be chained and brought to the Red Fort. When Tulsidas ji reached the Red Fort with chains, Akbar said that you seem like a charismatic person, show some charisma. Tulsi Das said that I am only a devotee of Lord Shri Ram, I am not a magician who can show you any charisma. Akbar got furious after hearing this and ordered that he should be chained and put in the dungeon.
The next day, millions of monkeys attacked the Red Fort of Agra together, destroyed the entire fort. There was chaos in the Red Fort, then Akbar called Birbal and asked Birbal what is happening, then Birbal said, Sir, if you wanted to see Karishma, then see. Akbar immediately got Tulsidas ji out of the cell. And the chains were opened. Tulsidas ji told Birbal that I have been punished without any crime.
I remembered Lord Shri Ram and Hanuman ji in the dungeon, I was crying. And while crying, my hands were automatically writing something. These 40 chaupai have been written with the inspiration of Hanuman ji. After being released from prison, Tulsidas ji said that just as Hanuman ji helped me by getting rid of the hardships of the prison, in the same way whoever is in trouble or trouble and recites it, his sufferings and all troubles will go away. This will be known as Hanuman Chalisa.
Akbar was very ashamed and apologized to Tulsidas ji and sent him to Mathura with full respect and full protection.
Today everyone is reciting Hanuman Chalisa. And Hanuman ji’s grace is being showered on all of them. And everyone’s troubles are going away. That’s why Hanuman ji is also called “Sankat Mochan”.
