सनातन धर्म में भाद्रपद मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की अष्टमी तिथि श्री राधाष्टमी के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है। शास्त्रों में इस तिथि को श्री राधाजी का प्राकट्य दिवस माना गया है। श्री राधाजी वृषभानु की यज्ञ भूमि से प्रकट हुई थीं। वेद तथा पुराणादि में जिनका ‘कृष्ण वल्लभा’ कहकर गुणगान किया गया है, वे श्री वृन्दावनेश्वरी राधा, सदा श्री कृष्ण को आनन्द प्रदान करने वाली साध्वी कृष्णप्रिया थीं। कुछ महानुभाव श्री राधाजी का प्राकट्य श्री वृषभानुपुरी (बरसाना) या उनके ननिहाल रावल ग्राम में प्रातःकाल का मानते हैं। कल्पभेद से यह मान्य है, पर पुराणों में मध्याह्न का वर्णन ही प्राप्त होता है।
शास्त्रों में श्री राधा, कृष्ण की शाश्वत शक्तिस्वरूपा एवम प्राणों की अधिष्ठात्री देवी के रूप में वर्णित हैं अतः राधा जी की पूजा के बिना श्रीकृष्ण जी की पूजा अधूरी मानी गयी है। श्रीमद देवी भागवत में श्री नारायण ने नारद जी के प्रति ‘श्री राधायै स्वाहा’ षडाक्षर मंत्र की अति प्राचीन परंपरा तथा विलक्षण महिमा के वर्णन प्रसंग में श्री राधा पूजा की अनिवार्यता का निरूपण करते हुए कहा है कि श्री राधा की पूजा न की जाए तो मनुष्य श्री कृष्ण की पूजा का अधिकार नहीं रखता। अतः समस्त वैष्णवों को चाहिए कि वे भगवती श्री राधा की अर्चना अवश्य करें। श्री राधा भगवान श्री कृष्ण के प्राणों की अधिष्ठात्री देवी हैं, इसलिए भगवान इनके अधीन रहते हैं। यह संपूर्ण कामनाओं का राधन (साधन) करती हैं, इसी कारण इन्हें श्री राधा कहा गया है।
श्रीकृष्ण भक्ति के अवतार देवर्षि नारद ने एक बार भगवान सदाशिव के श्री चरणों में प्रणाम करके पूछा ‘‘हे महाभाग ! मैं आपका दास हूं। बतलाइए, श्री राधादेवी लक्ष्मी हैं या देवपत्नी। महालक्ष्मी हैं या सरस्वती हैं? क्या वे अंतरंग विद्या हैं या वैष्णवी प्रकृति हैं? कहिए, वे वेदकन्या हैं, देवकन्या हैं अथवा मुनिकन्या हैं?’’
शिवजी बोले – ‘‘वृषभानुपुरी के राजा वृषभानु महान उदार थे। वे महान कुल में उत्पन्न हुए तथा सब शास्त्रों के ज्ञाता थे। अणिमा-महिमा आदि आठों प्रकार की सिद्धियों से युक्त, श्रीमान्, धनी और उदारचेत्ता थे। वे संयमी, कुलीन, सद्विचार से युक्त तथा श्री कृष्ण के आराधक थे। उनकी भार्या श्रीमती श्रीकीर्तिदा थीं। वे रूप-यौवन से संपन्न थीं और महान राजकुल में उत्पन्न हुई थीं। महालक्ष्मी के समान भव्य रूप वाली और परम सुंदरी थीं। वे सर्वविद्याओं और गुणों से युक्त, कृष्णस्वरूपा तथा महापतिव्रता थीं। उनके ही गर्भ में शुभदा भाद्रपद की शुक्लाष्टमी को मध्याह्न काल में श्रीवृन्दावनेश्वरी श्री राधिकाजी प्रकट हुईं।
पुरुष अथवा नारी राधाभक्तिपरायण होकर श्री राधाजन्म महोत्सव करता है, वह श्री राधाकृष्ण के सान्निध्य में श्रीवृंदावन में वास करता है। वह राधाभक्तिपरायण होकर व्रजवासी बनता है।
विश्वब्रह्मांड में यह पृथ्वी धन्य है, पृथ्वी पर वृन्दावनपुरी धन्य है। वृन्दावन में सती श्री राधा जी धन्य हैं, जिनका ध्यान बड़े-बड़े मुनिवर करते हैं। जो ब्रह्मा आदि देवताओं की परमाराध्या हैं,
मनुष्य भक्तिपूर्वक श्री राधा का मंत्र जप अथवा नाम स्मरण करता है, वह धर्मार्थी हो तो धर्म प्राप्त करता है, अर्थार्थी हो तो धन पाता है, कामार्थी पूर्णकामी हो जाता है और मोक्षार्थी को मोक्ष प्राप्त करता है। कृष्णभक्त वैष्णव सर्वदा अनन्यशरण होकर जब श्री राधा की भक्ति प्राप्त करता है तो सुखी, विवेकी और निष्काम हो जाता है।

In Sanatan Dharma, the Ashtami date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month is famous by the name of Shri Radhashtami. In the scriptures, this date is considered to be the appearance day of Shri Radhaji. Shri Radhaji had appeared from the Yagya Bhoomi of Vrishabhanu. Shri Vrindavaneshwari Radha, who has been praised as ‘Krishna Vallabha’ in the Vedas and Puranas, was Sadhvi Krishnapriya who always gave joy to Shri Krishna. Some great people consider the appearance of Shri Radhaji in the morning in Shri Vrishabhanupuri (Barsana) or in his maternal village Rawal. This is acceptable from Kalpabheda, but only the description of midday is found in the Puranas.
In the scriptures, Shri Radha is described as the eternal power of Krishna and the presiding deity of life, hence the worship of Shri Krishna is considered incomplete without the worship of Radha. In Shrimad Devi Bhagwat, Shri Narayan, in the context of describing the very ancient tradition and unique glory of ‘Shri Radhaiyai Swaha’ Shadakshar Mantra towards Narad ji, has stated the necessity of worshiping Shri Radha and said that if Shri Radha is not worshipped, then man will die. Does not have the right to worship Shri Krishna. Therefore, all Vaishnavas should worship Goddess Shri Radha. Shri Radha is the presiding deity of Lord Shri Krishna’s life, hence God remains under her control. She fulfills all the wishes, that is why she is called Shri Radha.
Devarshi Narad, the incarnation of devotion to Shri Krishna, once bowed at the feet of Lord Sadashiv and asked, “O Mahabhag! I am your slave. Tell me, is Shri Radha Devi Lakshmi or the divine wife? Is it Mahalakshmi or Saraswati? Are they intimate knowledge or Vaishnavi nature? Tell me, are they Vedkanya, Devkanya or Munnikanya? Lord Shiva said – “King Vrishabhanu of Vrishabhanupuri was very generous. He was born in a noble family and was knowledgeable in all the scriptures. He was a gentleman, rich and generous, having all the eight types of accomplishments like Anima-Mahima etc. He was restrained, noble, full of good thoughts and a worshiper of Shri Krishna. His wife was Mrs. Srikirtida. She was blessed with beauty and youth and was born in a great royal family. She was as gorgeous as Mahalakshmi and extremely beautiful. She was full of all the knowledge and virtues, had the form of Krishna and had great devotion. Shri Vrindavaneshwari Shri Radhikaji appeared in his own womb on the afternoon of Shuklashtami of Shubhada Bhadrapada.
A man or a woman, being devoted to Radha, celebrates Shri Radha Janam Mahotsav and resides in Shri Vrindavan in the company of Shri Radhakrishna. He becomes a resident of Vraj by being devoted to Radha. This earth is blessed in the universe, Vrindavanpuri on earth is blessed. Sati Shri Radha ji is blessed in Vrindavan, whom great sages pay attention to. Who is the supreme goddess of gods like Brahma, If a person devotionally chants the mantra or remembers the name of Shri Radha, if he is charitable, he attains religion, if he is selfish, he attains wealth, if he is selfish, he becomes full of desires and if he is virtuous, he attains salvation. When a devotee of Krishna, a Vaishnav, always surrenders himself to Sri Radha, he becomes happy, wise and selfless. 🚩🙏Jai Sanatan Dharma 🙏🚩
