एक दिन राधा जी भगवान कृष्ण से रूठ गई।
अनेक दिन बीत गए पर राधा जी कृष्ण से मिलने नहीं आई। जब कृष्ण उन्हें मनाने गये तो वहां भी उन्होंने बात करने से इनकार कर दिया। तो अपनी राधा को मनाने के लिए लीलाधर ने लालिहारण की लीला की
तो कृष्ण घूंघट ओढ़ कर एक लालिहारण का भेष बनाकर बरसाने की गलियों में पुकार करते हुए घूमने लगे। जब वो बरसाने, राधा रानी की ऊंची अटरिया के नीचे आये तो आवाज़ देने लगे।
मै दूर गाँव से आई हूँ, देख तुम्हारी ऊंची अटारी,
दीदार की मैं प्यासी, दर्शन दो वृषभानु दुलारी।
हाथ जोड़ विनंती करूँ, अर्ज मान लो हमारी,
आपकी गलिन गुहार करूँ, लील्या गुदवा लो प्यारी।।
जब राधा जी ने यह आवाज सुनी तो तुरंत विशाखा सखी को भेजा, और उस लालिहारण को बुलाने के लिए कहा। घूंघट में अपने मुँह को छिपाते हुए कृष्ण राधा जी के सामने पहुंचे और उनका हाथ पकड़ कर बोले कि कहो सुकुमारी तुम्हारे हाथ पे किसका नाम लिखूं।
तो राधा जी ने उत्तर दिया कि केवल हाथ पर नहीं मुझे तो पूरे अंग पर लील्या गुदवाना है और क्या लिखवाना है, किशोरी जी बता रही हैं।
माथे पे मनमोहन लिखो, पलकों पे पीताम्बर धारी !
नासिका पे नटवर लिख दो, कपोलों पे कृष्ण मुरारी |
अधरों पे अच्युत लिख दो, गर्दन पे गोवर्धन धारी !
कानो में केशव लिख दो, भृकुटी पे चार भुजाधारी !
गुदाओं पर ग्वाल लिख दो, नाभि पे नाग नथैया!
बाहों पे लिख दो बनवारी, हथेली पे दाउजी के भैया!
नखों पे नारायण लिख दो , पैरों पे जग पालनहारी!
चरणों में चितचोर लिख दो, मन में मोर मुकुट धारी!
नैनो में तू गोद दे रे, नंदनंदन की सूरत प्यारी!
रोम रोम पे लिख दे मेरे, रसिया रास बिहारी!
जब ठाकुर जी ने सुना कि राधा अपने रोम रोम पर मेरा नाम लिखवाना चाहती है, तो ख़ुशी से बौरा गए प्रभू उन्हें अपनी सुध न रही, वो भूल गए कि वो एक लालिहारण के वेश में बरसाने के महल में राधा के सामने ही बैठे हैं। वो खड़े होकर जोर जोर से नाचने लगे।
उनके इस व्यवहार से किशोरी जी को बड़ा आश्चर्य हुआ की इस लालिहारण को क्या हो गया। और तभी उनका घूंघट गिर गया और ललिता सखी को उनकी सांवरी सूरत का दर्शन हो गया ,और वो जोर से बोल उठी कि अरे.. ये तो कृष्ण ही है।
अपने प्रेम के इज़हार पर राधाजी बहुत शरमा गयी ,और अब उनके पास कन्हैया को क्षमा करने के आलावा कोई रास्ता न था।
कृष्ण भी राधा का अपने प्रति अपार प्रेम जानकर गदगद और भाव विभोर हो गए।
उस दिन से बरसाने की गलियों में गूंजा —
राधे श्याम… राधे श्याम
One day Radha ji got angry with Lord Krishna.
Many days passed but Radha ji did not come to meet Krishna. When Krishna went to convince him, he refused to talk there too. So to please his Radha, Leeladhar performed the leela of Laliharan.
So Krishna wore a veil and disguised himself as Laliharan and started roaming around in the streets of Barsana calling out. When he came under Barsana, the high atrium of Radha Rani, he started calling.
I have come from a far away village, look at your high attic, I am thirsty to see you, please see me dear Vrishabhanu. I request you with folded hands, please accept our request. I beg you, Lilya, please get tattooed, dear.
When Radha ji heard this voice, she immediately sent Vishakha Sakhi and asked her to call Laliharan. Hiding his face in the veil, Krishna came in front of Radha ji and holding her hand said, Sukumari, whose name should I write on your hand.
So Radha ji replied that not only on the hand, I want to get Lilya tattooed on the entire body and what to get written, Kishori ji is telling.
Manmohan written on the forehead, yellow stripes on the eyelids! Write Natwar on the nose, Krishna Murari on the cheeks. Write Achyut on the lips and wear Govardhan on the neck. Write Keshav in the ears, four armed on the forehead! Write cowherd on the anus, snake Nathaiya on the navel! Write Banwari on your arms, Dauji’s brother on your palm! Write Narayan on your nails, Lord of the world on your feet! Write Chitchor on your feet, wear a peacock crown in your mind! You give me your lap in Nano, Nandanandan’s face is lovely! Write on every pore of mine, Rasiya Ras Bihari!
When Thakur ji heard that Radha wanted to get my name written on every pore of her body, he was so overwhelmed with joy that he lost his senses and forgot that he was sitting in front of Radha in the palace of Barsana in the guise of a Laliharan. He stood up and started dancing vigorously.
Due to this behavior of his, Kishori ji was very surprised as to what happened to this Laliharan. And then his veil fell and Lalita Sakhi saw his tanned face, and she said loudly that he is Krishna.
Radhaji felt very ashamed at the declaration of her love, and now she had no other option but to forgive Kanhaiya.
Krishna also became giddy and emotional after knowing Radha’s immense love for him.
From that day onwards it echoed in the streets of Barsana – Radhe Shyam…Radhe Shyam
