क्योंकि सुख और दुख को भोगने के लिए ही इस शरीर की उत्पत्ति हुई है या जन्म होता है ।
वैराग्य का अर्थ अनासक्ति से है ।
न ही भोगों में राग हो और न ही द्वेष हो ।
जो मनुष्य वीतराग होकर संसार के सभी भोगों या विषयों का धर्मयुक्त उपभोग करते हैं , वह विरक्त ही हैं ।
संसार में जन्म मिला है तो संचित , प्रारब्ध, क्रियमाण कर्मों को भोगवाने के लिए ही मिला है । उससे जीव भाग नहीं सकता ।
इन भोगों में संलिप्तता न होकर प्रत्येक कार्य को भगवान के निमित्त या परम तत्व की प्राप्ति के उद्देश्य के निमित्त बनाना ही वैराग्य है ।
जब सुख आये तो भी सम और जब दुःख आये तो भी निर्विकार भाव से समान भाव होना ही वैराग्य का सूचक है ।
ऐसा नहीं कि शरीर से संसार तो छोड़ दिया लेकिन मन चित्त सब संसार में रमा हुआ है ।
इतिहास उठा लीजिये हमारे 90% महापुरुष गृहस्थ में ही थे लेकिन सब वैरागी थे ।
सबकी पत्नियाँ , बच्चे थे , परंतु मानसिक वैरागी थे ।
हर ऋषि की पत्नी थी , प्रह्लाद, ध्रुव ,जनक इत्यादि समस्त भोगों को भोगते हुए भी परम वैरागी थे ।
इसलिए वैराग्य को गेरुवा वस्त्र , बड़ी बड़ी दाढ़ी , जटाजूट , तिलक से नहीं समझना चाहिए ,मानसिक चित्तवृत्ति की दिशा या उनके झुकाव के अनुरूप ही वैराग्य को आत्मसात करना चाहिए ।
कमल देखा है न , बस वही है वैराग्य । घोर कीचड़ और जल में रहकर भी उसके पत्तों पर जल या कीचड़ का एक कण भी नहीं ठहर सकता ।

Because this body has originated or is born only to experience happiness and sorrow.
Vairagya means non-attachment.
There should be neither attachment nor hatred towards pleasures.
The person who, being free from attachment, enjoys all the pleasures or objects of the world in a religious manner, is a detached person.
If you have been born in this world, you have been given birth only to experience the accumulated, destiny and actionable deeds. The living being cannot run away from it.
Instead of indulging in these pleasures, doing every work for the sake of God or for the purpose of attaining the Supreme Principle is Vairagya.
Being equanimous when happiness comes and being equanimous with emotionless feelings when sorrow comes is an indicator of renunciation.
It is not that the body has left the world but the mind and heart are engrossed in the whole world.
Take history, 90% of our great men were family members but all of them were recluses. Everyone had wives and children, but were mentally recluse. Every sage had a wife, Prahlad, Dhruva, Janak etc. were extremely recluse even after enjoying all the pleasures.
Therefore, renunciation should not be understood in terms of saffron clothes, big beard, matted hair, tilak, renunciation should be imbibed according to the direction or inclination of the mental attitude.
Have you seen a lotus, that is the only renunciation. Despite living in extreme mud and water, not even a single particle of water or mud can stay on its leaves.
