[भज] निताई-गौर राधेश्याम [जप] हरेकृष्ण हरेराम
वृन्दावन के पथ में
सुजनं व्यजनं मन्ये चारुवंशसमुद्भवम्।
आत्मानं च परिभ्राम्य परतापनिवारणम्।।
पुरी से बहुत- से भक्त प्रभु के साथ वृन्दावन जाने की इच्छा से आये थे और बहुत- से भक्त नवद्वीप से उन के साथ हो गये थे, इसलिये प्रभु के साथ वृन्दावन चलने वालों की एक खासी भीड़ हो गयी थी। जिस प्रकार राजा, महाराजा और सामन्तगण विजयलाभ करने के लिये दूसरे देश पर चढ़ाई करते हैं, उसी प्रकार श्रीकृष्ण प्रेम में विभोर हुए भक्त प्रभु के साथ आनन्द और उत्साह के साथ वृन्दावन की ओर जा रहे थे। गंगा जी के किनारे-किनारे कार्तिक मास की शरीर को सुहावनी लगने वाली धूप में सभी सं कीर्तन करते हुए दौड़ लगा रहे थे। जिनके साथ साकार स्वरूप धारण कर के प्रेमदेव चल रहे हों उनके आनन्द का अनुमान लगा ही कौन सकता है? जिस गांव में मध्याह्न होता, वहीं पड़ाव पड़ जाता। बात- की-बात में ग्रामवासी प्रभु के सभी साथियों के भोजन आदि का प्रबन्ध कर देते।
महाप्रभु भिक्षा कर के और ग्रामवासियों को श्रीकृष्णप्रेम प्रदान कर के आगे चल देते। इस प्रकार अनेक ग्रामों को अपनी पद-धूलि से पावन बनाते हुए तथा ग्रामवासियों को भगवन्नाम-सुधा पिलाते हुए अपने प्यारे की दर्शन-लालसा से प्रभु प्रेम में उन्मत्त हुए आगे बढ़ रहे थे। एक दिन भिक्षा करने के अनन्तर मुख-शुद्धि के निमित्त प्रभु ने गोविन्दघोष की ओर हाथ बढ़ाया। घोष महाशय जानते थे कि प्रभु भिक्षा के अनन्तर मुख-शुद्धि के निमित्त कुछ अवश्य खाते हैं, इसलिये वे गाँव से एक हरीत की हरै मांग लाये थे। उन्होंने हरीत की का एक टुकड़ा प्रभु के हाथ पर रख दिया, प्रभु उसे खा गये। दूसरे दिन फिर प्रभु ने भिक्षा के अनन्तर हाथ बढ़ाया। घोष महोदय ने दूसरे दिन की बची हुई आधी हरीत की अपने वस्त्र के छोर में बांध रखी थी, प्रभु के हाथ बढ़ाते ही उन्हों ने जल्दी से उसे वस्त्र में से खोलकर उन के हाथ पर रख दी। हरीत की के टुकड़े को देखकर प्रभु हाथ को ज्यों- का-त्यों ही किये रहे। उन्हों ने उसे मुंह में नहीं डाला। थोड़ी देर सोचकर वे कहने लगे- ‘गोविन्द! यह हरीत की तुम ने कहाँ पायी ?’ अत्यन्त ही नम्रता के साथ घोष महाशय ने कहा- प्रभो! कल की शेष बची हुई हरीत की हम ने बांध रखी थी, वही यह है।’
प्रभु ने कुछ गम्भीरता के साथ कहा-‘तुम ने कल की आज केलिये क्यों बांध रखी ?’ गोविन्द प्रभु की गम्भीर चेष्टा को देखकर डर गये, उन्होंने कुछ भी उत्तर नहीं दिया, वे उदास-भाव से पृथ्वी की ओर देख ने लगे। तब प्रभु उसी स्वर में धीरे-धीरे कह ने लगे- ‘जिनकी संग्रह करने की आदत हो जाती है, वे साधु हो ने पर भी अपनी आदत को नहीं छोड़ते। अभी तुम्हारी संग्रह कर ने की इच्छा कम नहीं हुई। साधु के लिये संग्रह करना दूषण है और गृहस्थ को थोड़ा-बहुत संग्रह करना भूषण है। इसलिये अब तुम मेरे साथ नहीं रह सकते। यहीं कहीं कुटिया बनाकर रह जाओ और विवाह कर के अनासक्त-भाव से भगवत-प्रीत्यर्थ कार्य करो।’
इस बात को सुनते ही गोविन्द जोरों से रुदन कर ने लगे। प्रभु ने उन की पीठ पर हाथ फेरते हुए कहा- मैं ने तो वै से ही कह दिया, तुम स्वयं बड़े भगवान हो, तुम ने मेरे स्नेह के वशीभूत होकर ही ऐसा आचरण किया। कोई बात नहीं है, तुम यहीं रहकर भगवान गोपीनाथ जी की सेवा-पूजा करो। भगवान की सेवा के लिये विवाह किया जाय, तो उस में हानि ही क्या है? गोविन्द घोष ने प्रभु की आज्ञा शिरोधार्य की और गंगा-किनारे कुटिया बनाकर वे रह ने लगे। प्रभु-आज्ञानुसार उन्होंने विवाह भी किया। एक पुत्र को छोड़कर उन की पतिव्रता पत्नी परलोकगामिनी बन गयी। कुछ काल के अनन्तर पुत्र ने भी माता के पथ का अनुसरण किया। पुत्र शोक से दुःखी होकर भगवान की सेवा-पूजा छोड़कर वे प्राण त्याग ने के लिये उद्यत हो गये। उन्होंने न तो भगवान को ही भोग लगाया और न स्वयं ही कुछ खाया। तब एक दिन स्वप्न में भगवान ने कहा- ‘तुमने हमारी सेवा व्यर्थ में ही स्वीकार की। एक पिता बहुत-से पुत्रों से प्यार करता है और उनका समानभाव से लालन-पालन भी करता है, किन्तु हम तो इकलखोरे पुत्र हैं। हम अपने दूसरे भाई को नहीं देख सकते। हम एक बेटे वाले बाप के ही पुत्र बनकर रह जाते हैं। हमारा बाप हमारे किसी दूसरे भाई की इच्छा करे यह हमें पसंद नहीं हैं। इसीलिये हमारे दूसरा पुत्र कै से रह सकता था ? एक पुत्र तो मर ही गया, अब हमें भी मरना चाहते हो, तो तुम्हारी इच्छा। वैसे हम तुम्हारे पण्डिदान और श्राद्धादि कर्म करने के लिये स्वयं ही उपस्थित हैं, फिर दूसरे पुत्र का क्या करोगे ?’ इस बात से गोविन्द जी को सन्तोष हुआ और वे फिर पूर्ववत भगवान की सेवा-पूजा कर ने लगे। गोविन्द घोष की मृत्यु के अनन्तर भगवान ने पुत्ररूप से स्वयं उन के सभी श्राद्धादि कर्म कराकर अपनी भक्तवत्सलता को सार्थक किया। धन्य है ऐसे गोपीनाथ को और धन्य है उन महाभाग गोविन्द घोष को जिन की भक्ति के कारण जगत-पिता ने पु़त्ररूप से उनके श्राद्धादि कर्म किये।
महाप्रभु चलते-चलते राम केलि नामक नगर के निकट पहुँचे। नगर में घुसते ही भक्तों ने हरि-ध्वनि की गूंज से आकाशमण्डल को गुंजा दिया। दिशा-विदिशाओं में भगवान के सुमधुर नामों की प्रतिध्वनि सुनायी पड़ ने लगी। भक्तों के हृदय से आनन्द-धारा निकल-निकलकर अपने वेग से लोगों को प्लावित कर ने लगी। सहस्रों नर-नारियों के झुंड- के-झुंड प्रभु के दर्शनों के लिये आने लगे और सभी भूत-बाधा की छूत लगने के समान एक-दूसरे का हाथ पकड़-पकड़कर नृत्य करने लगे। राम केलि-ग्राम गौड़देश की राजधानी के समीप ही था। उसे गौड़ देश के दो मंत्री भाइयों ने अपने रहने के लिये बसाया था। बादशाह ने भी भक्तों की गगनभेदी तुमुल ध्वनि सुनी। सुनते ही अपने महल की छत पर चढ़कर स्वयं उस ओर देखने लगा।
पापी को सदा अपने पाप का भय बना रहता है, उस के हृदय में शान्ति नहीं रहती। गौड़ देश का तत्कालीन बादशाह हुसेनशाह हिन्दू राजा सुबुद्धिराय को छल-बल से राज्यच्युत कर के स्वयं ही राजा बन गया था। इसलिये वह हिन्दुओं से बहुत शंकित रहता था। भक्तों की गगनभेदी हरि-ध्वनि को सुनकर उस के कान खड़े हो गये। वह सोच ने लगा- ‘किसी ने गौड़ देश पर अकस्मात चढ़ाई तो नहीं कर दी।’ इसलिये उसने जल्दी से अपने केशवसिंह नामक हिन्दु मंत्री को बुलाकर उसका कारण पूछा। केशवसिंह ने प्रभु की प्रशंसा पहले से ही सुन रखी थी। वह स्वयं हुसेनशाह से सन्तुष्ट नहीं था; किन्तु मंत्री होने के कारण काम करता ही था। उसने कहा- ‘सरकार! भय की कोई बात नहीं। पुरी के दस-बीस वैष्णव साधु हैं, तीर्थयात्रा कर ने वृन्दावन जा रहे हैं, कल चले ही जायँगे। वे सभी निःशस्त्र हैं और उन्हें राजनीति से कोई प्रयोजन नहीं। वे सब-के-सब घर-बार-त्यागी वैरागी हैं।’ बादशाह उस समय तो हाँ-हूँ करके घर चला गया, किन्तु हिन्दु मंत्री की बातों से उसे विशेष सन्तोष नहीं हुआ। इसलिये उसने अपने ‘दबिर खास’ और ‘शाकिर मल्लिक’ नामक दोनों विश्वासी मंत्रियों को बुलाकर फिर इस सम्बन्ध में पूछ-ताछ की। इधर बादशाह से पृथक होते ही केशवसिंह मंत्री ने चुपके-से एक विश्वासी ब्राह्मण सेवक के द्वारा प्रभु के पास यह समाचार भेज दिया कि आपको यहाँ से शीघ्र ही चले जाना चाहिये।
मुसलमान बादशाह की बुद्धि का विश्वास नहीं, न जाने कब क्या सोचने लगे। दबिर खास और शाकिर मल्लिक वैसे तो जन्म के हिन्दू थे, किन्तु बादशाह के विशेष कृपापात्र हो ने से वे अपने हिन्दूपने को भूल- से गये थे। बादशाह भी इन पर हिन्दू कर्मचारियों की भाँति अविश्वास नहीं करते थे। बादशाह के पूछने पर दबिर खास ने प्रभु की प्रशंसा करते हुए कहा- ‘ये नवद्वीप के गौरांग महाप्रभु हैं, इन्होंने अब संन्यास ले लिया है। इन्हें राजनीति से कोई सम्बन्ध नहीं। ये तो धर्म-संस्थापनार्थ प्रकट हुए हैं। इन्हें आप साक्षात नारायण ही समझें। इनके आशीर्वाद से आपका कल्याण हो जायगा। ये कृपा कर ने में किसी प्रकार का भेदभाव नहीं रखते। बादशाह को इनकी बातों से सन्तोष हुआ और वह महाप्रभु की भूरि-भूरि प्रशंसा करने लगा।
इस प्रकार बादशाह को समझा-बुझाकर ये लोग अपने घर आये। अपने स्थान पर आकर इन दोनों भाइयों को शंका हुई कि न जाने बादशाह फिर कुछ सोच ने लगे, इसलिये चलकर प्रभु को समझा देना चाहिये कि ऐसे लड़ाई के समय में इस प्रकार भीड़-भाड़ के साथ वृन्दावन जाना उचित नहीं है। ये प्रभु के गुणों पर पहले ही मोहित हो चुके थे। प्रभु के दर्शनों की इन्हें चिरकाल से उत्कट इच्छा थी। आज स्वाभाविक ही ऐसा सुन्दर सुयोग पाकर ये परम प्रसन्न हुए और प्रभु के दर्शनों की इच्छा से रात्रि होने की प्रतीक्षा कर ने लगे। पाठक जानते ही होंगे कि अत्यन्त ही एकान्त-प्रेमी से रात्रि के समय एकान्त में ही बातें की जाती हैं। ये दोनों भाई प्रभु के अत्यन्त ही एकान्त-प्रेमी भक्त, सेवक, शिष्य तथा सुहृद् थे। ये ही दोनों भाई वैष्णव-समाज में ‘रूप और सनातन’ के नाम के परम प्रसिद्ध हैं, इसलिये प्रभु के दर्शनों के पूर्व इन का संक्षिप्त परिचय करा देना आवश्यक प्रतीत होता है, इसलिये अगले अध्याय में पाठक इन दोनों परम भागवत वैष्णव-भाइयों का परिचय प्राप्त कर सकेंगे।

I think a good man is a fan born of a beautiful family and to prevent the retribution of the self by turning it.
Many devotees from Puri had come with the desire to accompany the Lord to Vrindavan and many devotees had joined Him from Navadvipa, so there was a sizeable crowd of people accompanying the Lord to Vrindavan. Just as kings, emperors and feudal lords march on other countries to gain victory, similarly the devotees who were full of love for Shri Krishna were going towards Vrindavan with joy and enthusiasm with the Lord. Everyone was running along the banks of Ganga ji chanting sankirtan in the sun that felt pleasant to the body of the month of Kartik. Who can guess the joy of those with whom Premdev is walking in a corporeal form? The village where it was noon, there would have been a halt. The villagers used to make arrangements for food etc. for all the companions of Prabhu.
Mahaprabhu would have gone ahead after giving alms and giving the love of Shri Krishna to the villagers. In this way, purifying many villages with the dust of his feet and making the villagers drink Bhagavannam-Sudha, he was moving forward madly in love with the longing to see his Beloved. One day after giving alms, the Lord extended His hand towards Govind Ghosh to purify his face. Ghosh Mahasaya knew that the Lord must eat something to clean his mouth after alms, so he had brought a green mango from the village. They put a piece of green leaf on the Lord’s hand, the Lord ate it. On the second day again the Lord extended His hand for alms. Mr. Ghosh had tied the second day’s remaining half green in the edge of his cloth, as soon as Prabhu extended his hand, he quickly untied it from the cloth and put it on his hand. Seeing the piece of green key, the Lord kept moving his hand as it was. He didn’t put it in his mouth. After thinking for a while, he started saying – ‘Govind! Where did you get this green key?’ With great humility, Ghosh Mahasaya said – Lord! We had tied the remaining green of yesterday, that is it.
The Lord said with some seriousness – ‘Why did you tie yesterday for today?’ Govind got scared seeing the serious gesture of Prabhu, he did not answer anything, he started looking towards the earth with a sad feeling. Then the Lord started saying slowly in the same voice – ‘ Those who have a habit of collecting, they do not leave their habit even if they are saints. Your desire to collect has not diminished yet. Hoarding for a monk is pollution and hoarding a little for a householder is Bhushan. That’s why you can’t stay with me anymore. Make a cottage and stay here somewhere and after getting married, do God-love work with non-attachment.’
On hearing this, Govind started crying loudly. The Lord put his hand on his back and said – I told him, you yourself are a great God, you behaved like this because of my affection. There is no problem, you stay here and worship Lord Gopinath ji. If marriage is done for the service of God, then what is the harm in that? Govind Ghosh obeyed the Lord’s orders and started living by building a cottage on the banks of the Ganges. He also got married as per the order of the Lord. Leaving behind a son, his chaste wife became an extraterrestrial. After some time the son also followed the path of the mother. Saddened by the son’s grief, leaving the service and worship of God, he got ready to sacrifice his life. He neither offered food to God nor did he eat anything himself. Then one day God said in a dream – ‘ You accepted our service in vain. A father loves many sons and nurtures them equally, but we are only sons. We cannot see our other brother. We remain the sons of the father who has only one son. We do not like that our father wishes for any other brother of ours. That’s why how could our second son live? One son has already died, now you want us to die too, then it is your wish. By the way, we ourselves are present for your Pandidan and Shraddhadi Karma, then what will you do with the other son?’ Govind ji was satisfied with this and he again started serving and worshiping God as before. After the death of Govind Ghosh, God in the form of a son himself made his devotion meaningful by performing all the rituals for him. Blessed is such Gopinath and blessed is that Mahabhag Govind Ghosh, because of whose devotion the Father of the world in the form of a son performed his rituals.
While walking, Mahaprabhu reached near a city named Ram Keli. As soon as they entered the city, the devotees made the sky reverberate with the sound of Hari. The echo of the melodious names of the Lord was heard in every direction. A stream of joy gushed out from the hearts of the devotees and started flooding people with its speed. Thousands of men and women flocked to see the Lord and everyone started dancing holding each other’s hands like being infected by evil spirits. Ram Kelli-gram was near the capital of Gaudesh. It was settled by two minister brothers of Gaur country for their stay. The king also heard the deafening tumult sound of the devotees. On hearing this, he climbed on the roof of his palace and started looking at it himself.
The sinner always remains in fear of his sin, there is no peace in his heart. Hussain Shah, the then king of Gaur country, became the king himself after overthrowing the Hindu king Subuddhirai by force. That’s why he was very suspicious of Hindus. His ears perked up after listening to the deafening Hari-sound of the devotees. He started thinking- ‘Has anyone accidentally invaded Gaur country?’ That’s why he quickly called his Hindu minister named Keshav Singh and asked him the reason. Keshav Singh had already heard the praise of the Lord. He himself was not satisfied with Hussain Shah; But because of being a minister, he used to work. He said- ‘Government! There is nothing to fear. There are ten-twenty Vaishnava sadhus of Puri, who are going to Vrindavan after doing pilgrimage, will definitely go tomorrow. They are all unarmed and have no use for politics. All of them are recluses who leave their homes again and again.’ At that time, the king went home saying yes, but he was not particularly satisfied with the words of the Hindu minister. That’s why he called both his trusted ministers named ‘Dabir Khas’ and ‘Shakir Mallik’ and inquired in this regard. Here, as soon as he was separated from the king, Keshav Singh’s minister secretly sent this news to the Lord through a faithful Brahmin servant that you should leave from here soon.
Do not believe in the intelligence of the Muslim king, don’t know when he started thinking what. Dabir Khas and Shakir Mallik were Hindus by birth, but being the special favors of the emperor, they had forgotten their Hinduness. Even the emperor did not distrust them like the Hindu employees. On the king’s question, Dabir Khas praised the Lord and said- ‘This is Gauranga Mahaprabhu of Navadweep, he has now retired. He has nothing to do with politics. They have appeared for the establishment of religion. Consider him to be Narayan in reality. With his blessings you will be blessed. They don’t make any kind of discrimination in doing grace. The king was satisfied with his words and started praising Mahaprabhu.
In this way, after persuading the king, these people returned to their homes. After coming to their place, both these brothers doubted that the king might start thinking again, so they should go and explain to the Lord that it is not appropriate to go to Vrindavan with such a crowd in the time of such a war. He was already fascinated by the qualities of the Lord. He had a longing desire to see the Lord from time immemorial. Today naturally he was very happy after getting such a beautiful opportunity and with the desire to see the Lord, he started waiting for the night to come. Readers must be aware that talks are held with a very solitary lover in solitude only at night. Both these brothers were extremely solitude-loving devotees, servants, disciples and well-wishers of the Lord. These two brothers are very famous in the Vaishnava society by the name of ‘Roop and Sanatan’, so it seems necessary to give a brief introduction to them before the darshan of the Lord, so in the next chapter, the reader will learn about these two supreme Bhagwat Vaishnav brothers. Will be able to get the introduction.
