[भज] निताई-गौर राधेश्याम [जप] हरेकृष्ण हरेराम
श्री सनातन वृन्दावन को और प्रभु पुरी को
कालेन वृन्दावनकेलिवार्ता
लुप्तेति तां ख्यापयितुं विशिष्य।
कृपामृतेनाभिषिषेच देव-
स्तत्रैव रूपंच सनातनंच।।
लगभग दो मास काशी जी में निवास करके महाप्रभु ने दो प्रधान कार्य किये। एक तो सनातन जी को शास्त्रीय शिक्षा दी और दूसरे श्री पाद प्रकाशानन्द जी प्रेमदान दिया। प्रकाशानन्द जी-जैसे प्रकाण्ड पण्डित के भाव परिवर्तन के कारण प्रभु की ख्याति सम्पूर्ण काशी नगरी में फैल गयी। बहुत-से लोग प्रभु के दर्शनों के लिये आने-जाने लगे। बहुत-से वेदान्ती पण्डित प्रभु को शास्त्रार्थ के लिये ललकारते। प्रभु नम्रता पूर्वक कह देते- ‘मैं शास्त्रार्थ क्या जानूँ? जिन्हें, शास्त्रों के वाक्यों के ही बाल की खाल निकालनी हो वे निकालते रहें, मैंने तो सभी शास्त्रों का सार यही समझा है कि सब समय, सर्वत्र, सदा भगवान नारायण का ही ध्यान करना चाहिये। जो आस्तिक पुरुष मेरी इस बात का खण्डन करें, वह मेरे सामने आवें।
प्रभु के इस उत्तर को सुनकर सभी चुप हो जाते और अपना-सा मुख लेकर लौट जाते। बहुत भीड़-भाड़ और लोगों के गमनागमन से प्रभु का चित्त ऊब-सा गया। प्रभु को बहुत बातें करना प्रिय नहीं था। वे श्रीकृष्ण कथा के अतिरिक्त एक शब्द सुनना भी नहीं चाहते थे, संसारी लोगों के सम्पर्क से सांसारिक बातें छिड़ ही जाती हैं, यह बात प्रभु को पसंद नहीं थी। इसीलिये उन्होंने ही पुरी जाने का निश्चत कर लिया। प्रभु के निश्चय को समझकर दीन भाव से हाथ जोड़े हुए श्री सनातन जी ने पूछा- ‘प्रभो! मेरे लिये क्या आज्ञा होती है?’
प्रभु ने कहा- ‘तुम भी अपने भाई के ही पथ का अनुसरण करो। वृन्दावन में रहकर तुम दोनों भाई व्रजमण्डल के लुप्त तीर्थो का फिर से उद्धार करो और भगवान की अप्रकट लीलाओं का भक्ति ग्रन्थों द्वारा प्रचार करो। तुम दोनों ही भाई वैराग्यवान हो, पण्डित हो, रसमर्मज्ञ हो, कवि हृदय के हो, तुम्हारे द्वारा जिन ग्रन्थों का प्रणयन होगा उनसे लोगों का बहुत अधिक कल्याण होगा। व्रजमण्डल में आये हुए गौड़ीय भक्तों की देख-रेख का कार्य भी मैं तुम्हीं लोगों को सौंपता हूँ।’
हाथ जोड़े हुए विवशता के स्वर में सनातन जी ने कहा- ‘प्रभो! हम अधम भला इस इतने बड़े कार्य के योग्य कैसे हो सकते हैं? किन्तु हमें इससे क्या? हम तो यन्त्र है, यन्त्री जिस प्रकार घुमायेगा, घूमेंगे, जो करावेगा, करेंगे। हमारा इसमें अपना पुरुषार्थ तो कुछ काम देगा ही नहीं।’
प्रभु ने कहा- ‘तुम इस कार्य में प्रवृत्त तो हो, श्री हरि स्वत: ही तम्हारे हृदय में शक्ति का संचार करेंगे। तम्हारे हृदय में स्वत: ही श्री कृष्ण लीलाओं की स्फुरणा होने लगेगी। ‘इस प्रकार सनातन को समझा-बुझाकर प्रभु ने उन्हें वृन्दावन जाने के लिये राजी कर लिया।
दूसरे दिन प्रात: काल ही प्रभु ने गंगा स्नान करके पुरी की ओर प्रस्थान कर दिया। तपन मिश्र, चन्द्रशेखर, रघुनाथ, परमानन्द कीर्तनिया, महाराष्ट्रीय ब्राह्मण तथा सनातन आदि प्रभु के अन्तरंग भक्त उनके पीछे-पीछे चले। प्रभु ने सभी को समझा-बुझाकर लौटा दिया, वे सभी को प्रेमपूर्वक आलिंगन करके बलभद्र भट्टाचार्य के सहित आगे बढ़े। भक्तगण मूर्च्छित होकर पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़े। श्री सनातन जी को प्रभु वियोग से अपार दु:ख हुआ। चन्द्रशेखर वैद्य उन्हें जैसे-तैसे उठाकर अपने घर लाये। दूसरे दिन वे भी सबसे विदा लेकर राजपथ से वृन्दावन की ओर चले।
इधर श्री रूपजी ने सुबुद्धिराय जी के साथ सभी वनों की यात्रा की। वे एक महीने तक व्रज में भ्रमण करते रहे। फिर उन्हें अपने भाई सनातन की चिन्ता हुई, इसलिये उनकी खोज में वे अपने छोटे भाई अनूप के सहित सारों होकर गंगा जी के किनारे-किनारे प्रयाग होते हुए काशी आये। काशी जी में आकर उन्हें सनातन जी का और प्रभु का सभी समाचार मिला। श्री सनातन जी मथुरा में जाकर अपने दोनों भाइयों की खोज करने लगे। सहसा इनकी सुबुद्धिराय जी से भेट हो गयी। उनसे पता चाल कि रूप और अनूप तो काशी होते हुए आपकी ही खोज में गौड़ देश को गये हैं। रूपजी गंगाजी के किनारे- किनारे आये थे और सनातन जी सड़क-सड़क गये थे, इसीलिये रास्तें में इन दोनों भाइयों की भेट नहीं हुई। सनातन जी अब परम वैरागी संन्यासी की भाँति ‘मथुरा माहात्म्य’ नाकी पुस्तक मिल गयी। उसी के अनुसार वे व्रजमण्डल के सभी वनों और कुंजो में घूम-घूमकर लुप्त तीर्थो का पता लगाने लगे। वे घर-घर से टुकड़े मांगकर खाते थे और रात्रि में किसी पेड़ के नीचे पड़ रहते थे। इसी प्रकार ये अपने जीवन को बिताने लगे। इधर महाप्रभु भक्तों से विदा होकर झाड़ी खण्ड के रास्ते से पुरी की ओर चलने लगे। रास्ते मे भिक्षा का प्रबन्ध उसी प्रकार बलभद्र भट्टाचार्य करते। कभी-कभी तो केवल साग और वन के कच्चे-पक्के फलों के ही ऊपर निर्वाह करना पड़ता। प्रभु रास्ते मे-
राम राघव राम राघव राम राघव रक्ष माम्।
कृष्ण केशव कृष्ण केशव कृष्ण केशव पाहि माम्।।
इस पद का बड़े ही स्तर के सहित उच्चारण करते जाते थे। रास्ते में चलते-चलते प्रभु को बड़े जोरों की प्यास लगी। सामनेसे उन्हें आता हुआ एक ग्वाले का लड़का दीखा। उसके सिर पर एक मटकी थी। प्रभु ने उससे पूछा -‘क्यों भाई ! इसमें क्या है?’ उस बच्चे ने बड़ी नम्रता के साथ कहा- ‘स्वामी जी! इसमें मट्ठा है, मैं अपने पिता को देने के लिये जाता हूँ।’ प्रभु ने कहा -‘मुझे बड़ी प्यास लग रही है। क्या तुम मुझे यह मट्ठा पिला सकते हो?’
लड़के ने कहा-‘ महाराज! मैं पिला तो देता, किन्तु मेरे पिता मेरी प्रतीक्षा कर रहे होंगे।’
प्रभु ने कहा- ‘अच्छी बात है, तो तुम उन्हीं के पास इसे ले जाओ। ‘इतना कहकर प्रभु आगे चलने लगे। थोड़ी देर में उस लड़के ने कुछ सोचकर कहा- ‘स्वामी जी! लौट आइये, आप इस मट्ठे को पी लीजिये।’
प्रभु ने कहा- ‘तुम्हारे पिता नाराज होंगे, तब तुम क्या कहोगे?’
उसने कहा -‘ महाराज! उनके लिये तो मैं और भी ला सकता हूँ। देर हो जायगी तो थोड़े नाराज हो जायंगे, किन्तु आपको न जाने आगे कहाँ पानी मिलगा? धूप तेज पड़ रही है। आप प्यासे जायँगे, इससे मेरा दिल धड़क रहा है। चाहे कुछ भी क्यों न हो, मैं आपको प्यासा न जाने दूंगा।’
प्रभु ने कहा-‘ नहीं भाई! तुम्हारे पिता तुमसे नारज हों, यह ठीक नहीं है। मुझे तो कहीं-न-कहीं आगे जल मिल ही जायगा।’
प्रभु की इस बात को सुनकर उस बच्चे ने आकर प्रभु के पैर पकड़ लिये और रोते-रोते उनसे मट्ठा पीने की प्रार्थना करने लगा। दयालु प्रभु, उसके आग्रह को टाल न सके और उसके कहने से उस मिट्टी के बड़े बर्तन के सम्पूर्ण मट्ठे को पी गये। मट्ठे को पीकर प्रभु ने जोरों से उस लड़के को आलिंगन किया। प्रभु का आलिंगन पाते ही वह प्रेम में उन्मत्त होकर ‘हरि हरि’ कहकर नृत्य करने लगा उस समय उसकी दशा बड़ी ही विचित्र हो गयी थी। उसके शरीर में सात्त्विक भाव उदय होने लगे। इस प्रकार प्रभु उस बालक को प्रेमदान देकर आगे बढ़े। कई दिनों के पश्चात प्रभु पुरी के समीप पहुँच गये। दूर से ही उन्हें श्री जगन्नाथ जी की पताका दिखायी दी। श्री मन्दिर की पताका दर्शन होती ही, प्रभु ने भूमि में लोटकर जगन्नाथ जी की फहराती हुई विशाल पताका को प्रणाम किया और वे अठारह नाला पर पहुँचे, अठारह नालापर पहुँचकर आपने भक्तो को खबर देने के निमित्त बलभद्र भट्टाचार्य को भेजा और आप वहीं थोड़ी देर तक बैठकर रास्त की थकान मिटाने लगे।

Mahaprabhu did two main tasks after living in Kashi for almost two months. Firstly, he gave classical education to Sanatan ji and secondly Shri Pad Prakashanand ji gave him love. Due to the change in attitude of a Prakand Pandit like Prakashanand ji, the fame of the Lord spread throughout the city of Kashi. Many people started coming and going for the darshan of the Lord. Many Vedanti pundits used to challenge the Lord for the meaning of the scriptures. The Lord humbly says – ‘What should I know about the scriptures? Those who want to pluck hair from the sentences of the scriptures, they should keep plucking them, I have understood the essence of all the scriptures that one should always meditate on Lord Narayan at all times, everywhere. The theist men who deny this thing of mine, they should come before me.
Everyone would have become silent after hearing this answer of the Lord and would have returned with their own faces. Lord’s mind got bored due to the huge crowd and movement of people. Prabhu did not like to talk a lot. He didn’t even want to hear a word other than Shri Krishna’s story, God didn’t like this thing, worldly things get sprinkled by contact with worldly people. That’s why he decided to go to Puri. Understanding the determination of the Lord, Shri Sanatan ji with folded hands humbly asked – ‘Lord! What is the order for me?’ The Lord said- ‘You also follow the path of your brother. Staying in Vrindavan, both of you brothers should revive the lost places of pilgrimage of Vrajmandal and propagate the unmanifest pastimes of God through devotional books. Both of you brothers are recluse, pundits, connoisseurs of music, poets at heart, the books you will read will bring a lot of welfare to the people. I also entrust to you people the task of taking care of the Gaudiya devotees who have come to Vrajmandal.’
Sanatan ji said in the voice of helplessness with folded hands – ‘ Lord! How can we wretched people be eligible for such a big task? But what about us? We are a machine, the way the machine spins, we will spin, we will do whatever is done. Our own effort in this will not be of any use at all.’ The Lord said- ‘If you are engaged in this work, Shri Hari will automatically communicate power in your heart. Shri Krishna’s pastimes will start automatically in your heart. ‘ In this way, by persuading Sanatan, the Lord persuaded him to go to Vrindavan.
On the second day in the morning itself, after bathing in the Ganges, the Lord left for Puri. Tapan Mishra, Chandrashekhar, Raghunath, Parmanand Kirtania, Maharashtrian Brahmins and Sanatan etc., close devotees of the Lord followed him. Prabhu sent everyone back after persuading them, they hugged everyone with love and proceeded along with Balabhadra Bhattacharya. The devotees fainted and fell on the earth. Shri Sanatan ji felt immense sorrow due to separation from the Lord. Chandrashekhar Vaidya picked him up and brought him to his home. On the second day, he also took leave of everyone and went towards Vrindavan from Rajpath.
Here Shri Roopji traveled to all the forests with Subuddhirai ji. He wandered in Vraj for a month. Then he got worried about his brother Sanatan, so in search of him he along with his younger brother Anoop came to Kashi via Prayag on the banks of Ganga ji. After coming to Kashi ji, he got all the news of Sanatan ji and God. Shri Sanatan ji went to Mathura and started searching for his two brothers. Suddenly he met Subuddhirai ji. It was learned from them that Roop and Anoop had gone to Gaur country in search of you while being in Kashi. Roopji came to the banks of Gangaji and Sanatanji went from road to road, that’s why these two brothers did not meet on the way. Sanatan ji has now got the book ‘Mathura Mahatmya’ like a supreme recluse monk. Accordingly, they roamed in all the forests and keys of Vrajmandal and started searching for the lost pilgrimages. They used to beg for pieces from house to house and used to lie under a tree at night. This is how he started spending his life. Here Mahaprabhu left the devotees and started walking towards Puri by way of Jhari Khand. Balbhadra Bhattacharya used to manage alms on the way in the same way. Sometimes we had to survive only on greens and unripe fruits of the forest. Lord on the way
O Rama, O Rama, O Rama, O Rama, O Rama, protect me. Krishna, Keshav, Krishna, Keshav, Krishna, Keshav, protect me.
He used to pronounce this post with a very high level. While walking on the way, the Lord felt very thirsty. He saw a cowherd boy coming from the front. He had a pot on his head. The Lord asked him – ‘Why brother! what does it have?’ That child said with great humility – ‘Swamiji! There is whey in it, I go to give it to my father.’ The Lord said – ‘I am feeling very thirsty. Can you give me this whey?’ The boy said – ‘ Maharaj! I would have given drink, but my father must be waiting for me.’ The Lord said- ‘Good thing, then you take it to him only. Having said this, the Lord started walking ahead. After a while, that boy thought something and said – ‘Swamiji! Come back, you drink this whey.’
The Lord said- ‘Your father will be angry, then what will you say?’ He said – ‘ Maharaj! I can bring more for them. If there is a delay, you will get a little angry, but you do not know where you will get water in future? The sun is shining brightly. You will go thirsty, it is making my heart skip a beat. No matter what happens, I will not let you go thirsty.’ The Lord said – ‘ No brother! It is not right for your father to be angry with you. I will get water somewhere or the other.’
Hearing these words of the Lord, that child came and caught hold of the feet of the Lord and started crying and praying to Him to drink the whey. The merciful Lord could not resist his request and on his saying drank the entire whey of that big earthen pot. After drinking the whey, the Lord hugged that boy loudly. As soon as he got the embrace of the Lord, he became mad in love and started dancing saying ‘Hari Hari’, at that time his condition became very strange. Sattvic feelings started emerging in his body. In this way, the Lord moved forward by giving love to that child. After many days Prabhu reached near Puri. He could see the flag of Shri Jagannath ji from a distance. As soon as the flag of Shri Mandir was seen, the Lord returned to the ground and bowed down to the huge banner of Jagannathji and he reached eighteen drains, after reaching eighteen drains, you sent Balbhadra Bhattacharya to inform the devotees and you stayed there for a while. Sitting down, started eradicating the fatigue of the journey.
