माँ की नासिका के श्वास-प्रश्वास से अग्नि की भयंकर ज्वालाएँ निकलती रहती हैं। इनका वाहन गर्दभ (गदहा) है।
माँ कालरात्रि देवी का रूप देखने में अत्यंत भयानक है, किन्तु माता का यह शक्ति रूप साधक को सदैव शुभ फल देता हैं। इसिलिए माँ के इस रूप को ‘शुभंकारी’ भी कहते है। अतः इनसे भक्तों को किसी प्रकार भी भयभीत अथवा आतंकित होने की आवश्यकता नहीं है।
माँ कालरात्रि की उपासना
इस दिन साधक का मन ‘सहस्रार’ चक्र में स्थित रहता है। इसके लिए ब्रह्मांड की समस्त सिद्धियों का द्वार खुलने लगता है।
सहस्रार चक्र में स्थित साधक का मन पूर्णतः माँ कालरात्रि के स्वरूप में अवस्थित रहता है। उनके साक्षात्कार से मिलने वाले पुण्य का वह भागी हो जाता है। उसके समस्त पापों-विघ्नों का नाश हो जाता है। उसे अक्षय पुण्य-लोकों की प्राप्ति होती है।
माँ कालरात्रि की महिमा
माँ कालरात्रि दुष्टों का विनाश करने वाली हैं। दानव, दैत्य, राक्षस, भूत, प्रेत आदि इनके स्मरण मात्र से ही भयभीत होकर भाग जाते हैं। ये ग्रह-बाधाओं को भी दूर करने वाली हैं। इनके उपासकों को अग्नि-भय, जल-भय, जंतु-भय, शत्रु-भय, रात्रि-भय आदि कभी नहीं होते। इनकी कृपा से वह सर्वथा भय-मुक्त हो जाता है।
इनकी पूजा-अर्चना करने से सभी पापों से मुक्ति मिलती है व दुश्मनों का नाश होता है, तेज बढ़ता है। माँ कालरात्रि के स्वरूप-विग्रह को अपने हृदय में अवस्थित करके मनुष्य को एकनिष्ठ भाव से उपासना करनी चाहिए। यम, नियम, संयम का उसे पूर्ण पालन करना चाहिए। मन, वचन, काया की पवित्रता रखनी चाहिए।
माँ कालरात्रि शुभंकारी देवी हैं। उनकी उपासना से होने वाले शुभों की गणना नहीं की जा सकती। हमें निरंतर उनका स्मरण, ध्यान और पूजा करना चाहिए।माँ कालरात्रि – माँ दुर्गा का सातवां रूप

माँ दुर्गाजी की सातवीं शक्ति कालरात्रि के नाम से जानी जाती हैं। नवरात्रि का सातवां दिन माँ कालरात्रि की उपासना का दिन होता है।
माँ कालरात्रि का स्वरूप देखने में अत्यंत भयानक है, लेकिन ये सदैव शुभ फल ही देने वाली हैं। इसलिए देविका एक नाम ‘शुभंकारी’ भी है।
माँ कालरात्रि का स्वरुप
कालरात्रि देवीके शरीर का रंग घने अंधकार की तरह एकदम काला है। सिर के बाल बिखरे हुए हैं। गले में विद्युत की तरह चमकने वाली माला है। इनके तीन नेत्र हैं। ये तीनों नेत्र ब्रह्मांड के सदृश गोल हैं। इनसे विद्युत के समान चमकीली किरणें निःसृत होती रहती हैं (निकलती रहती हैं) ।
ये ऊपर उठे हुए दाहिने हाथ की वरमुद्रा से सभी को वर प्रदान करती हैं। दाहिनी तरफ का नीचे वाला हाथ अभयमुद्रा में है। बाईं तरफ के ऊपर वाले हाथ में लोहे का काँटा तथा नीचे वाले हाथ में खड्ग (कटार) है।
माँ कालरात्रि की स्तुति
सातवाँ जब नवरात्र हो,
आनंद ही छा जाता।
अन्धकार सा रूप ले,
पुजती हो माता॥
गले में विद्युत माला है,
तीन नेत्र प्रगटाती।
धरती क्रोधित रूप माँ,
चैन नहीं वो पाती॥
गर्दभ पर विराज कर,
पाप का बोझ उठाती।
धर्म की रखती मर्यादा,
विचलित सी हो जाती॥
भूत प्रेत को दूर कर,
निर्भयता है लाती।
योगिनिओं को साथ ले,
धीरज वो दिलवाती॥
शक्ति पाने के लिए,
तांत्रिक धरते ध्यान।
मेरे जीवन में भी दो,
हलकी सी मुस्कान॥
