These noble soul was deeply distressed due to the separation from his wife. His wife’s name was Kishori. After her passing, he lost all sense of awareness and wandered through the lanes of Braj and the dense groves of Gahvar Van, continuously crying out, Kishori Kishori.
The worldly love he had for his beloved wife gradually and unknowingly began transforming into divine love
At that time, Shri Radha Rani herself was present in the groves of Gahvar Van, enjoying pastimes with her sakhis. When she heard his heart-wrenching cries, her heart melted with compassion.
One of her sakhis, Lalita, said, he is calling out for his wife, not for you.
Radha Rani gently smiled and replied, dear sakhi, whoever he may be calling, the name he chants is mine. And anyone who comes into the shelter of Gahvar Van and takes my name, how can they return empty-handed.
As soon as Radha Rani cast her merciful glance upon him, all his sorrow vanished. He was blessed with the divine vision of Shri Radha herself.
Overwhelmed by this transcendental bliss he fainted.
When he regained consciousness, all his worldly attachments had dissolved. He was no longer attached to his wife. He had now become the Ali, meaning companion or bee, of Kishori Ji herself.
From that moment, he became known as Kishori Ali.
He spent the rest of his life in the sacred dust of Gahvar Van. His devotion was so deep that he remained constantly immersed in the nectar of Radha’s name.
His samadhi still exists near Shri Krishna Kund, hidden among the vines, reminding devotees of this divine pastime even today.
Even half of the name Radha has the power to liberate a soul.
Saying Ra destroys all physical and mental diseases. Saying Dha removes all obstacles in life.
The glory of Radha’s name is so vast that even the Vedas and Puranas cannot fully describe it.
Kishori Ali says, chant Radha Radha constantly. By doing so, one quickly enters a state of bhav samadhi (deep spiritual absorption = भाव समाधि), filled with divine bliss.
श्री किशोरी अली जी की पावन कथा
विरह की पुकार और ब्रज आगमन
ये सज्जन मूल रूप से अपनी पत्नी के वियोग में व्याकुल थे। उनकी पत्नी का नाम ‘किशोरी’ था। अपनी प्रियतमा की मृत्यु के बाद वे सुध-बुध खो बैठे और “किशोरी! किशोरी!” पुकारते हुए ब्रज की गलियों और गहवर वन में भटकने लगे। उनके हृदय में अपनी पत्नी के प्रति जो लौकिक प्रेम था, वह अनजाने में ही दिव्य प्रेम की ओर मुड़ रहा था।
श्री जी की करुणा
जब वे गहवर वन के सघन कुंजों में “किशोरी” नाम की रट लगा रहे थे, तब वहाँ साक्षात् श्री राधा रानी अपनी सखियों के साथ विहार कर रही थीं। श्री जी ने जब वह करुण क्रंदन सुना, तो उनका हृदय द्रवित हो उठा।
सखी का तर्क: ललिता सखी ने कहा कि यह तो अपनी पत्नी को पुकार रहा है, आपको नहीं।
राधा रानी का उत्तर: करुणामयी लाड़ली जी ने मुस्कराकर कहा— “सखी, जो भी हो, पर यह नाम तो मेरा ही ले रहा है। और जो गहवर वन की शरण में आकर मेरा नाम ले, वह खाली कैसे जा सकता है?”
दिव्य मिलन और नाम परिवर्तन
राधा रानी की कृपा दृष्टि पड़ते ही उन सज्जन का शोक समाप्त हो गया और उन्हें श्री जी के दिव्य स्वरूप के दर्शन हुए। उस अलौकिक आनंद में वे मूर्छित हो गए। जब वे जागे, तो उनका सांसारिक मोह छूट चुका था। अब वे अपनी पत्नी के नहीं, बल्कि साक्षात् किशोरी जी के ‘अली’ (सखी/भ्रमर) बन चुके थे। यहीं से उनका नाम ‘किशोरी अली’ पड़ा।
4. साधना और समाधि
उन्होंने अपना शेष जीवन गहवर वन की रज में व्यतीत किया। उनकी भक्ति इतनी प्रगाढ़ थी कि वे सदैव राधा नाम के रस में डूबे रहते थे। उनकी समाधि आज भी श्रीकृष्ण कुंड के समीप लताओं के बीच स्थित है, जो भक्तों को आज भी उस दिव्य लीला की याद दिलाती है।
पद का भावार्थ
जो सुंदर पद आपने लिखा है, वह राधा नाम की महिमा का निचोड़ है:
आधौ नाम तारिहै राधा।
‘रा’ के कहत रोग सब मिटिहैं, ‘धा’ के कहत मिटै सब बाधा॥
अर्थ: राधा नाम का केवल आधा अक्षर ही मनुष्य का तारण करने वाला है। ‘रा’ शब्द के उच्चारण से जन्म-जन्मानंतर के मानसिक और शारीरिक रोग मिट जाते हैं और ‘धा’ कहते ही जीवन की समस्त बाधाएं समाप्त हो जाती हैं।
राधा राधा नाम की महिमा, गावत वेद पुराण अगाधा।
अलि किशोरी रटौ निरंतर, वेगहि लग जाय भाव समाधा॥
अर्थ: जिसकी महिमा वेद और पुराण भी पूरी तरह नहीं गा सकते, उस ‘राधा’ नाम को किशोरी अली जी कहते हैं कि निरंतर रटते रहो। ऐसा करने से बहुत शीघ्र ही तुम भाव-समाधि (परमानंद) में लीन हो जाओगे।
