भक्ति दिखावे का विषय नहीं

एक व्यक्ति था जो नियमित मंदिर जाता था परंतु एकांत मे तो चुपचाप रहता कोई भजन कीर्तन ना करता और जैसे ही भीड़ बढ़ने लगती खूब ज़ोर ज़ोर से जयकारा लगाके कीर्तन आदि करने लगता। सभी लोग उसे बहुत भगत मानते थे और भगत जी का संबोधन करते थे इससे उस व्यक्ति को बहुत आत्म संतुष्टि मिलती। आम जीवन मे भी उसका ज़ोर इसी बात पर रहता की उसे मान कैसे मिले और इसलिए हमेशा ही दूसरों मे कमियाँ निकालता रहता।

यहाँ तक की मंदिर मे भी जाता तो सबको उपदेश दिया करता और खुद भूले से भी भगवान को याद नही करता। आरती भी करता तो उसका ज़ोर दूसरों को दिखाके चिल्लाने पर रहता परंतु ये भाव उसे नही आता कि भगवान सामने खड़े हैं। इसी तरह कई दिन बीत गये और वहाँ एक संत और भी आने लगे। कभी कभी उस व्यक्ति की उनसे भेंट भी हो जाती लेकिन वो उनसे कुछ भी ज्ञान की बात नही पूछता क्यूंकी उसे लगता कि लोग समझेंगे की उसे कुछ मालूम नही तभी तो वो इन संत से पूछ रहा है, बल्कि वो व्यक्ति संत महाराज को ही बताने लगता कि आप अकेले मे तो इतना भजन करते हैं लोगों के सामने चुप क्यूँ हो जाते हैं, अरे! भगवान का भजन तो सबके साथ मिलके ही किया जाता है। वो संत मुस्कुराते और आँखें बंद कर लेते।उस व्यक्ति को लगता कि कदाचित् संत महाराज भी मेरी बात से सहमत है।

एक दिन उस आदमी ने एक नयी चप्पल खरीदी और मंदिर के बाहर हमेशा की तरह उतार कर अंदर आ गया, परंतु उसका मन बार बार चप्पल पर जाए की कहीं कोई चोरी ना कर ले। ये सब देखकर भगवान को बहुत दुख हुआ। रात उस व्यक्ति ने स्वप्न देखा की कोई अलौकिक पुरुष उसी मंदिर के बाहर उसकी चप्पल के पास खड़ा है, तुरंत ही उसकी नींद टूट गयी वो घबराके बैठ गया। उसने विचार किया कि इसका अर्थ किससे पूछा जाए क्यूंकी उसने कभी कोई प्रश्न किसी से पूछा नही कि लोग उसे अज्ञानी ना समझे। बहुत सोच विचार कर उसने सोचा एकांत मे उसी संत से पूछूँगा जो मंदिर आते हैं क्यूंकी वो धीरे बोलते हैं और अधिक लोगों से बातचीत भी नही करते। उस दिन वो मंदिर गया और उसने अपनी बात संत के सामने रखी। उसकी बात सुनते ही संत की आखों मे आँसू आ गये और वो भाव समाधि मे चले गये। कुछ देर बाद जब उनकी आखें खुली तो उस व्यक्ति ने फिर अपना प्रश्न दोहराया की इस स्वप्न का क्या अर्थ है?

संत बोले, वो महापुरुष जो आपकी चप्पल के पास खड़े थे, स्वयं प्रभु थे जिनकी मूर्ति इस मंदिर मे विराजमान है और वो आपको ऐसा करके यही संकेत दे रहे थे की तुम मंदिर मे रहके भी मुझे स्मरण नही करते और मैं मंदिर मे होते हुए भी तुम्हारे चप्पल की रखवाली करता हूँ। ये सुनते ही उस व्यक्ति की भी आँखें भीग गयीं। उसने संत के चरण पकड़ लिए और बोला महाराज अब मैं समझा कि आप एकांत मे इतने भाव से क्यूँ भजन गाते और भीड़ के साथ क्यूँ चुप हो जाते क्योंकि आप हमेशा प्रभु प्रेम मे रहते हैं और प्रभु भक्ति दिखावे का नही भाव का विषय है। कृपया करके मुझे क्षमा कर दें जो मैने अज्ञान वश आपको कभी अपमानित किया हो ये कहकर वो व्यक्ति भाव विभोर हो गया, संत ने आगे बढ़के उसे गले से लगा लिया।
उस दिन भी उस व्यक्ति ने भीड़ के साथ हमेशा की तरह ज़ोर ज़ोर से भजन किया परंतु उसकी आखें बंद थीं और उनसे अश्रु निकल रहे थे।

There was a person who used to go to the temple regularly, but in seclusion, no bhajan would do kirtan and as soon as the crowd started growing, he started to cheer loudly and do kirtan. All the people considered him very Bhagat and addressed Bhagat ji, this would give that person a lot of self -satisfaction. Even in normal life, his emphasis remains on how he should get respect and hence always keeps on drawing shortcomings in others.

Even if he went to the temple, he would preach to everyone and he would not remember God even with forgotten. Even if Aarti did, he would keep shouting his emphasis to others, but he does not know that God is standing in front. Similarly, many days passed and a saint started coming there. Sometimes that person would meet him, but he does not ask him anything about knowledge because he feels that he will understand that he does not know anything, then he is asking these saints, rather that person starts telling Sant Maharaj that you do so much bhajan in front of people, why do you become silent in front of people, hey! The hymn of God is done with everyone. Those saints would smile and close their eyes. That person thinks that perhaps Sant Maharaj also agrees with me.

One day the man bought a new slippers and came inside the temple as usual, but his mind should go on the slippers again and again that no one should steal. God felt very sad to see all this. At night, the person dreamed that a supernatural man is standing outside the same temple near his slippers, immediately he broke his sleep, he sat nervous. He thought that to whom it should be asked because he never asked any question that people should not consider him ignorant. After thinking a lot, he thought that in solitude, I would ask the same saint who comes to the temple because he speaks slowly and does not even talk to more people. That day he went to the temple and put his point in front of the saint. On listening to him, the saint’s tears came in the eyes and they went to the samadhi. After some time, when his eyes opened, the person again reiterated his question that what is the meaning of this dream?

The saint said, the great men who were standing near your slippers, were the Lord themselves, whose idol is seated in this temple and he was indicating you by doing so that you do not remember me even in the temple and I keep in the temple even while in the temple, I guard your slippers. On hearing this, the person’s eyes also got wet. He grabbed the feet of the saint and said, Maharaj, now I understood why you would sing hymns in solitude with such a sense and why would you always be silent with the crowd because you are always in love in love and God is not a matter of devotion, not a feeling of devotion. Please forgive me by doing ignorance and that the person has become very proud by saying that the saint went ahead and hugged him.
