हर वर्ष गणेश चतुर्थी के अगले दिन ऋषि पंचमी का व्रत रखा जाता है और इस हिसाब से वर्ष २०२३ में ये व्रत २० सितंबर को यानी कल रखा जाएगा। ये व्रत महिलाओं के लिए बहुत खास होता है।
कहते हैं जो भी स्त्री ये व्रत रखती है, उसकी हर मनोकामना पूर्ण हो जाती है। भारत के कई जगहों में इसे भाई पंचमी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। यह व्रत देवी- देवताओं को नहीं बल्कि सप्त ऋषियों को समर्पित है। इस दिन सप्त ऋषियों की पूजा करने का विधान है। जाने-अनजाने में हुई गलतियों से मुक्ति दिलाने के लिए भी ये व्रत उत्तम माना गया है।
धार्मिक मान्यताओं के अनुसार स्त्रियों को रजस्वला होने पर पूजा-पाठ और धार्मिक कार्यों को करने की मनाही होती है। अगर इस समय में गलती से कोई पूजा-अर्चना का सामान स्पर्श हो जाए तो बहुत पाप लगता है। इस तरह के पाप से मुक्ति पाने के लिए ये व्रत बहुत खास होता है। मासिक धर्म में हुई गलतियों के प्रायश्चित के लिए ये व्रत रखा जाता है।
ऋषि पंचमी व्रत कथा-
किवदंतियों के अनुसार विदर्भ गांव में उत्तंक नाम का एक ब्राह्मण रहता था। उसकी पत्नी का नाम सुशीला था जो की बहुत पतिव्रता थी। ब्राह्मण का एक पुत्र और पुत्री थी। ब्राह्मण ने खुशी-खुशी अपनी बेटी को विवाह करके विदा किया लेकिन कुछ समय पश्चात ही वो विधवा हो गई। दुखी होकर ब्राह्मण अपनी कन्या के साथ गंगा के पास कुटिया बनाकर रहने लगे।
एक दिन वो कन्या सो रही थी और उसका सारा शरीर कीड़ों से भर गया। यह देखकर ब्राह्मण की पत्नी बहुत घबरा गई और सारी बात जाकर ब्राह्मण को बताई और कहने लगी मेरी बेटी से ऐसी क्या गलती हो गई जो इसके साथ ऐसा हुआ ?
ब्राह्मण ने ध्यान लगाकर इस घटना का पता किया और देखा कि पिछले जन्म में भी ये कन्या ब्राह्मणी थी। रजस्वला के समय में उसने बर्तन छू दिए थे। जिस वजह से उसके शरीर में कीड़े पड़ गए हैं। इस समस्या का समाधान पाने के लिए ब्राह्मण ने कहा कि इस पाप से मुक्ति पाने के लिए कन्या से ऋषि पंचमी का व्रत कराया जाए। पिता की आज्ञा से पुत्री ने ऐसा ही किया और कुछ समय बाद इस व्रत के कारण उसके जीवन से सारे दुःख-दर्द दूर हो गए।

Every year, Rishi Panchami fast is observed on the next day of Ganesh Chaturthi and accordingly, in the year 2023, this fast will be observed on 20th September i.e. tomorrow. This fast is very special for women.
It is said that any woman who observes this fast, her every wish is fulfilled. In many places of India it is also known as Bhai Panchami. This fast is not dedicated to gods and goddesses but to the seven sages. There is a tradition to worship the seven sages on this day. This fast is also considered best for getting rid of the mistakes committed knowingly or unknowingly.
According to religious beliefs, women are prohibited from worshiping and performing religious activities when they are menstruating. If someone accidentally touches any item of worship during this time, it is considered a great sin. This fast is very special to get freedom from such sins. This fast is observed to atone for the mistakes committed during menstruation.
Rishi Panchami fast story-
According to legends, there lived a Brahmin named Uttanka in Vidarbha village. His wife’s name was Sushila who was very devoted to her husband. The Brahmin had a son and a daughter. The Brahmin happily sent his daughter off after getting married but after some time she became a widow. Feeling sad, the Brahmin started living with his daughter in a hut near the Ganga.
One day the girl was sleeping and her entire body was filled with insects. Seeing this, the Brahmin’s wife became very nervous and went and told the whole story to the Brahmin and asked, “What mistake did my daughter do that this happened to her?”
The Brahmin carefully investigated this incident and saw that this girl was a Brahmin in her previous life also. She had touched utensils during her menstruation. Due to which insects have spread in his body. To get the solution to this problem, the Brahmin said that to get rid of this sin, the girl should be made to fast on Rishi Panchami. With the permission of her father, the daughter did the same and after some time, due to this fast, all the sorrows and pains went away from her life.
