जल दिवस का महत्व

जल के देवता वरुण और वर्षा के देवता इन्द्र है।
यह निर्विवाद सत्य है कि सभी जीवित प्राणियों की उत्पत्ति जल में हुई है। वैज्ञानिक अब पृथ्वी के अलावा अन्य ग्रहों पर पहले पानी की खोज को प्राथमिकता देते हैं। पानी के बिना जीवन जीवित ही नहीं रहेगा। इसी कारणवश अधिकांश संस्कृतियाँ नदी के पानी के किनारे विकसित हुई हैं। इस प्रकार ‘जल ही जीवन है’ का अर्थ सार्थक है। दुनिया में, 99% पानी महासागरों, नदियों, झीलों, झरनों आदि के अनुरूप है। केवल 1% या इससे भी कम पानी पीने के लिए उपयुक्त है।
