भगवान श्रीकृष्ण कहते हैं कि- मैं ‘आकाश’ में ‘शब्द’ हूँ !
रसोऽहमप्सु कौन्तेय प्रभास्मि शशिसूर्ययोः।
प्रणवः सर्ववेदेषु शब्दः स्वे पौरुषं नृषु।।
हे कौन्तेय! जल में मैं रस हूँ। चन्द्रमा और सूर्य में मैं प्रकाश हूँ। समस्त वेदों में मैं ओंकार हूँ। आकाश में उसका सारभूत शब्द हूँ, अर्थात् उस शब्दरुप मुझ ईश्वर में आकाश पिरोया हुआ है। तथा पुरुषों में मैं पौरुष हूँ।
(श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता; अध्याय- ७, श्लोक- ८)
एक तथाकथित धर्म-गुरु का कथन है कि, ‘हम यह जानते हैं कि हमारा शरीर पाँच तत्त्वों से मिलकर बना है। इन तत्त्वों में से पृथ्वी, जल, अग्नि, वायु के हम अनुभव कर सकते हैं, लेकिन आकाश हमारे अनुभव से परे है।’
एक छोटा बच्चा हमसे प्रश्न करता है- आकाश कहाँ है? हम उँगली से ऊपर की ओर इशारा करते हुए उत्तर देते हैं- जो नीले रंग का दिख रहा है वही आकाश है। एक शायर लिखता है- ‘कौन कहता है आसमान में सुराख नहीं होता, एक पत्थर तो तबीयत से उछालो यारों।’ एक मशहूर अभिनेता इस शेर से अत्यंत प्रभावित होता है और मंच पर अपने प्रशंसकों को सुनाता है और ढेर सारी तालियाँ बटोरता है।
आकाश में अवकाश से वायु, वायु के घर्षण से अग्नि, अग्नि के पसीने से जल और जल के मैल से पृथ्वी की उत्पत्ति है। गंध, रस, रुप, स्पर्श और शब्द क्रमशः पृथ्वी, जल, अग्नि, वायु और आकाश के गुण हैं। इन पाँचों गुणों को व्यक्त करनेवाली पाँच ज्ञानेन्द्रियों नाक (गंध), जीभ (रस), आँख (रुप), त्वचा (स्पर्श) और कान (शब्द) की हमारे शरीर में उत्पत्ति हुई है।
शास्त्र के अनुसार, ‘उस पुरुष ने सबसे पहले शब्दगुणविशिष्ट आकाश को रचा, फिर निजगुण स्पर्श और शब्दगुण से युक्त होने के कारण दो गुण वाले वायु को, तदनन्तर स्वकीय गुण रुप और पहले दो गुण शब्द-स्पर्श से युक्त तीन गुणवाले तेज को, तथा अपने असाधारण गुण रस के सहित पूर्वगुणों के अनुप्रवेश से चार गुणवाले जल को और गंधगुण के सहित पूर्वगुणों के अनुप्रवेश से पाँच गुणों वाली पृथ्वी को रचा।’
आकाश के अतिरिक्त वायु, अग्नि, जल और पृथ्वी में भी आकाश के गुण- शब्द का अनुप्रवेश है। बिना आकाश नामवाले तत्त्व की उपस्थिति के उसके गुण- शब्द का अनुप्रवेश संभव नहीं है। अतः आकाश नामवाला तत्त्व सर्वत्र स्थित है।
अतः वह ऊपर दिखाई देनेवाला नीला आकाश अभी यहाँ स्थित है! एक पत्थर ऊपर उछाल कर आसमान में सुराख करने के लिए प्रवृत होने की आवश्यकता ही नहीं है। हमारे चलते-फिरते, उठते-बैठते हर क्षण आसमान में असंख्य सुराख तो सहज ही बन रहे हैं।
एक बच्चे के जन्मदिन का उत्सव चल रहा है। केक कट रहा है, तभी बच्चे के पिता के चार्ज में लगे मोबाईल की घंटी बजी। तीन-चार बार घंटी बज गई। केक कटने से लेकर गाने-बजाने, नाचने तक लगभग एक घंटा बीत गया। तभी बच्चे के पिता को याद आया- फोन की घंटी बज रही थी। उसने फोन हाँथ में लिया- बहन के दस मिस्ड काल और एक संदेश। संदेश था “Papa is no more”. उसका समूचा शरीर शिथिल पड़ गया। अपने आँसुओं को रोक पाने में असमर्थ- फफक कर रो पड़ा। क्षणभर में उत्सव मातम में बदल गया। मात्र चार शब्दों ने क्षण भर में केवल सिर से पाँव तक पूरे शरीर, मन और भाव को ही परिवर्तित नहीं किया बल्कि समूचे माहौल पर भी विपरीत प्रभाव पड़ा।
एक मोबाईल फोन से प्रेषित संवाद- संदेश – शब्द, तस्वीर, प्रतीक, इत्यादि आकाश के माध्यम से ही दूसरे मोबाईल फोन पर प्राप्त होता है। किसी भी रूप में- एक अक्षर, कुछ अक्षरों से बना शब्द या कुछ शब्दों से बना एक या एक से अधिक वाक्य हो, सभी आकाश नाम वाले तत्त्व में ही प्रकाशित होते हैं।
आकाश- इंटरनेट और वाई-फाई का आश्रय है। ये आकाश नामक तत्त्व के ही माध्यम से सक्रिय हैं। दुनिया का सबसे महान् और मौन समाज सेवक Google इसी तत्त्व आकाश का सदुपयोग करके हम सब की निःस्वार्थ सेवा में तत्पर है।
आकाश और उसका गुण शब्द, हमारे समस्त कर्मों का आरंभ है। विद्यार्थी के कान नामक ज्ञानेन्द्रिय में शिक्षक द्वारा प्रेषित शब्द प्रकाशित होते हैं। उन शब्दों को मन लयबद्ध करके बुद्धि को प्रेषित करता है। बुद्धि द्वारा निश्चय होता है अर्थात् वह विषय ज्ञात हो जाता है।
आवश्यकतानुसार, वाणी नामक कर्मेंद्रिय पुनः शब्दों के रुप में (आकाश के माध्यम से) विद्यार्थी द्वारा ज्ञात विषय को अन्य व्यक्ति-व्यक्तियों को प्रेषित करता है। किसी भी विषय का ज्ञान होने के बाद ही हम कर्म करने के लिए प्रवृत होते हैं।
शब्दगुण विशिष्ट आकाश अन्य चारों तत्त्वों पृथ्वी, जल, अग्नि और वायु की दिशा पलट देने में समर्थ है। भगवान् कह रहे हैं, ‘मैं आकाश में उसका सारभूत शब्द हूँ, अर्थात् उस शब्दरुप मुझ ईश्वर में आकाश पिरोया हुआ है।’
क्या आकाश हमारे अनुभव से परे है ?? स्वयं विचार करें।

Lord Krishna says that – I am the ‘word’ in the ‘sky’!
I am the taste in water, O Arjuna, I am the light in the moon and the sun. Oṁkāra in all the Vedas, sound in its own manhood in men.
Hey Kaunteya! I am juice in water. I am the light in the moon and the sun. I am Omkar in all the Vedas. I am its essence in the sky, that is, the sky is threaded in me God in the form of that word. And among men I am the man. (Shrimad Bhagavad Gita; Chapter-7, Verse-8)
A so-called religious teacher says, ‘We know that our body is made up of five elements. Of these elements we can feel earth, water, fire, air, but the sky is beyond our experience.’
A small child asks us – Where is the sky? We answer by pointing upwards with the finger – that which is visible in blue color is the sky. A poet writes- ‘Who says there is no hole in the sky, friends, at least throw a stone carefully.’ A famous actor is deeply moved by this lion and recites it on stage to his fans and garners lots of applause.
From the void in the sky air, from the friction of air fire, from the sweat of fire water and from the filth of water the earth originated. Smell, taste, form, touch and sound are the qualities of earth, water, fire, air and sky respectively. The five sense organs expressing these five gunas namely nose (smell), tongue (rasa), eye (form), skin (touch) and ear (shabda) have originated in our body.
According to the scriptures, ‘That Purush first created the sound-specific sky, then the air with two qualities because of the nijagun touch and the sound gun, then the self-quality form and the first two qualities of sound-touch, the three-quality Tej, and He created water with four qualities from the penetration of the pre-qualities with his extraordinary quality juice and the earth with five qualities from the percolation of the pre-qualities including the scent.’
Apart from the sky, air, fire, water and earth also have the qualities of the sky. Without the presence of the element named Akash, it is not possible to penetrate its qualities. That’s why the element named Akash is present everywhere.
So that blue sky above is located here now! There is no need to be inclined to throw a stone up and make a hole in the sky. Innumerable holes are easily being made in the sky every moment while we are moving, getting up and sitting.
A child’s birthday celebration is in progress. The cake was being cut, when the mobile phone in charge of the child’s father rang. The bell rang three or four times. About an hour passed from cake cutting to singing and dancing. Only then the child’s father remembered – the phone was ringing. He took the phone in hand – ten missed calls from sister and a message. The message was “Papa is no more”. His whole body became relaxed. Unable to hold back his tears, he burst into tears. In a moment the celebration turned into mourning. Just four words not only changed the whole body, mind and spirit from head to toe in a moment, but also had the opposite effect on the whole atmosphere.
The communication-message-word, picture, symbol, etc. sent from one mobile phone is received on the other mobile phone only through the sky. In any form – a letter, a word made of some letters or one or more sentences made of some words, all are published in the element named Akash.
Aakash is the haven of internet and Wi-Fi. They are active only through the element called sky. Google, the world’s greatest and silent social worker, is ready to selflessly serve all of us by utilizing this element of sky.
The sky and its attribute, the word, is the beginning of all our actions. The words transmitted by the teacher are reflected in the ear of the student. The mind rhythmically transmits those words to the intellect. There is determination through the intellect, that is, the subject becomes known.
As per need, the sense organ called speech again transmits the subject known by the student to other persons in the form of words (through Akash). Only after having knowledge of any subject, we tend to do work.
The word quality specific sky is capable of reversing the direction of the other four elements earth, water, fire and air. God is saying, ‘I am His essence in the sky, that is, the sky is threaded in me God in the form of that word.’
Is the sky beyond our experience?? Think for yourself.
