स्वामिभक्ति धन्य है

महाराणा संग्रामसिंह स्वर्ग पधारे। मेवाड़के सिंहासनके योग्य उनका ज्येष्ठ पुत्र विक्रमादित्य सिद्ध नहीं हुआ। राजपूत सरदारोंने उसे शीघ्र सिंहासनसे उतार दिया। छोटे कुमार उदयसिंह अभी शिशु थे। उनका राज्याभिषेक तो हो गया; किंतु दासीपुत्र बनवीरको उनका संरक्षकबनाया गया। बालक राणा उदयसिंहकी ओरसे बनवीर राज्य संचालन करने लगा।

बनवीरके मनमें राज्यका लोभ आया। एक रात्रिको वह स्वयं नंगी तलवार लेकर उठा और राजभवनमें | निःशङ्क सोते राजकुमार विक्रमादित्यकी उसने हत्याकर दी। उसका यह क्रूर कर्म राजभवनमें दोने-पत्तल उठानेका काम करनेवाला सेवक देख रहा था। वह दौड़ा हुआ राणा उदयसिंहकी धाय पन्नाके पास गया। उसने बतलाया – ‘बनवीर इसी ओर आ रहा है।’

पन्ना दाईने दो क्षणमें कर्तव्य निश्चित कर लिया। उसने सोते हुए उदयसिंहके वस्त्र उतार लिये और उन्हें एक टोकरीमें लिटाकर ऊपरसे दोने-पत्तलसे ढक दिया। वह टोकरी उस सेवकको देकर कह दिया ‘चुप-चाप राजभवन से बाहर निकल जाओ। नगरके बाहर नदीके पास मेरी प्रतीक्षा करना।’

अपने पुत्र चन्दनको उस स्वामिभक्ता धायने उदय सिंहके कपड़े पहिनाकर उनके पलंगपर सुला दिया। इतनेमें ही रक्तसे सनी तलवार लिये बनवीर आ पहुँचा।उसने पूछा- ‘उदय कहाँ है ?’

हृदयपर पत्थर रखकर पन्नाने अपने बच्चेकी ओर संकेत कर दिया। एक ही झटकेमें उस बालकका मस्तक बनवीरने शरीरसे पृथक् कर दिया। वह शीघ्रतासे वहाँसे चल दिया। पन्ना अपने पुत्रका शव लिये नदी-किनारे पहुँची। आज वह खुलकर रो भी नहीं सकती थी । पुत्रका शरीर नदीमें विसर्जित करके वह उदयसिंहको लेकर वहाँसे चली गयी।

समय आया जब कि बड़े होकर उदयसिंहने बनवीरको उसके कर्मका दण्ड दिया और मेवाड़के सिंहासनको भूषित किया। पन्ना दाईके अपूर्व त्यागने ही राणाके कुलकी रक्षा की। धन्य है ऐसी स्वामिभक्ति ।

Maharana Sangram Singh went to heaven. His eldest son Vikramaditya did not prove worthy of the throne of Mewar. The Rajput chieftains quickly removed him from the throne. Chhote Kumar Uday Singh was still an infant. His coronation has happened; But Dasiputra Banveer was made his guardian. Banveer started running the state on behalf of child Rana Uday Singh.
The greed of the kingdom came in Banveer’s mind. One night he himself got up with a naked sword and entered the Raj Bhavan. He killed the innocent sleeping prince Vikramaditya. This cruel deed of his was being seen by the servant who was doing the work of lifting two leaves in the Raj Bhavan. He ran to Rana Uday Singh’s nurse Panna. He told – ‘Banveer is coming this way.’
Panna daine fixed the duty in two moments. He took off the clothes of the sleeping Uday Singh and put them in a basket and covered them with two leaves. He gave that basket to the servant and said, ‘Quietly get out of the Raj Bhavan. Wait for me outside the city by the river.’
Dressing her son Chandan in the clothes of Uday Singh, that Swami devotee nurse put him to sleep on his bed. Meanwhile, Banveer arrived with a blood-soaked sword. He asked – ‘Where is Uday?’
Placing a stone on the heart, Panna pointed towards her child. In one blow, Banveer separated the head of that child from the body. He quickly left from there. Panna reached the river-bank with the dead body of her son. Today she could not even cry openly. After immersing the son’s body in the river, she left there with Uday Singh.
The time came when Uday Singh, after growing up, punished Banveer for his deeds and enthroned the throne of Mewar. Rana’s family was saved only by leaving Panna Dai’s Apoorva. Blessed is such devotion.
