ईमानदारी और कर्तव्यनिष्ठा
एक भारतीय परिवारके लोग जापानकी राजधानी टोक्योके एक होटलमें ठहरे। जब वे बाजार गये तो उन्हें वहाँ आकर्षक जूते दिखायी दिये। उन्होंने बच्चेके लिये एक जोड़ी जूते खरीद लिये। होटल लौटनेपर उन्हें पता चला कि जूते कहीं गिर गये।
यह सोचकर कि जूते कोई उठाकर ले गया होगा, उन्होंने जूते ढूँढ़नेका कोई प्रयास नहीं किया।
रात दस बजे होटलमें उनके कमरेका दरवाजा खटखटाया गया, दरवाजा खोला तो एक पुलिसवालेको देखकर उनको आश्चर्य हुआ। उसने उन भारतीय सज्जनको जूतोंका बण्डल दिखाते हुए पूछा कि ‘क्या यह आपका है ?’
भारतीय सज्जनने आश्चर्यसे पूछा- ‘आपको कैसे पता चला कि ये जूते हमारे हैं ?’
पुलिसवालेने बताया कि सड़कपर पड़े जूतोंको अनेक लोगोंने देखा, परंतु किसीने उठाया नहीं। उसने बण्डल उठा लिया। खोलकर देखा तो बच्चेके जूते थे। जूतोंके स्वामीका पता लगानेके लिये वह ऐसे जूते बेचनेवाले दुकानदारसे मिला। उसने बताया कि कुछ देर पहले उसने ये जूते एक भारतीय व्यक्तिको बेचे थे। पुलिसवालेने कई होटलोंमें फोन करके भारतीय परिवारका पता लगा लिया और वह वहाँ पहुँच गया। इस प्रकार जूते उनके स्वामीतक पहुँचा दिये गये।
कृतज्ञ भारतीयने उसे धन्यवाद देते हुए कहा-‘मैं समझ गया कि परमाणु बमके हमलोंके बाद भी आज यह राष्ट्र इतना समृद्ध और विकसित क्यों है, यह आप लोगोंको कर्तव्यनिष्ठा और ईमानदारीका परिणाम है।’
honesty and integrity
Members of an Indian family stayed in a hotel in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. When he went to the market, he saw attractive shoes there. He bought a pair of shoes for the child. On returning to the hotel, he came to know that the shoes had fallen somewhere.
Thinking that someone must have taken away the shoes, they made no effort to find them.
At 10 o’clock in the night there was a knock on the door of his room in the hotel, when he opened the door, he was surprised to see a policeman. Showing the bundle of shoes to the Indian gentleman, he asked, ‘Is this yours?’
The Indian gentleman asked with surprise – ‘How did you know that these shoes are ours?’
The policeman told that many people saw the shoes lying on the road, but no one picked them up. He picked up the bundle. When I opened it, I saw the shoes of the child. To find out the owner of the shoes, he met a shopkeeper selling such shoes. He told that some time back he had sold these shoes to an Indian person. The policeman traced the Indian family by calling several hotels and reached there. In this way the shoes were delivered to their owner.
The grateful Indian thanked him and said- ‘I understand why this nation is so prosperous and developed today even after the atomic bomb attacks, it is the result of your conscientiousness and honesty.’
