अध्यात्मबोधक कुछ मूलभूत दृष्टान्त
1 – त्रिलोकीका नाश
एक राजा था, वह एक बार शिकार करनेके लिये जंगलमें गया। बहुत दौड़-धूप की, परंतु कोई शिकार हाथ न आया। अचानक एक नीलगायपर उसकी दृष्टि पड़ी। उसको मारनेके लिये जैसे ही राजाने शरसंधान किया कि वह नीलगाय तुरंत बोल उठी-‘भले राजा! मुझे मारना मत। मुझको मारोगे तो त्रिलोकीका नाश हो जायगा।’
यह सुनकर राजाको बड़ी हँसी आयी। तीरको तरकसमें रखते हुए राजा बोला-‘अरे मूर्ख नीलगाय ! लोग तुझको मूर्ख कहते हैं, वह ठीक ही है। यह तू क्या कहती है ? तेरे-जैसे तो हजारों प्राणियोंको मैंने मारा है, फिर भी आजतक त्रिलोकीका नाश नहीं हुआ। फिर कैसे तेरी एककी मृत्युसे त्रिलोकीका नाश हो जायगा ?’
तब वह नीलगाय बोली-‘मैं भले ही मूर्ख हूँ, पर हे राजा ! तू विचारनेत्रसे अन्धा है, इससे तुझको सत्य नहीं दीख पड़ता। अपनी आँखोंको मूँद ले। देख, क्या कहीं तुझको संसार दीखता है? इसी प्रकार जब तेरी आँख एक दिन सदाके लिये मुँद जायगी, तब तेरे लिये जगत् कहाँ रहेगा ?”सम्मीलने नयनयोर्न हि किञ्चिदस्ति ।’
आँखें मुँद जानेके बाद, प्राण छूट जानेके बाद तेरा जगत् कहीं नहीं रह जायगा। इसी प्रकार यदि तू मुझे मार डालेगा, तो मेरी दृष्टिसे तो त्रिलोकीका नाश हो ही जायगा न? क्योंकि ‘आप मुये, जग प्रलय’ है। कबीरजी भी कहते हैं कि ‘आप मुये पीछे डूब गयी दुनिया।’
राजाको यह बात सच्ची लगी। उसके ज्ञाननेत्र खुल गये। उसने नीलगायको नहीं मारा और वह घर लौट आया।

1 – Destruction of Triloki
There was a king, he once went to the forest to hunt. He ran a lot, but could not find any prey. Suddenly he saw a Nilgai. As soon as the king tried to kill him, that nilgai immediately spoke – ‘Good king! Don’t kill me If you kill me, all three worlds will be destroyed.’
Hearing this, the king laughed a lot. Keeping the arrow in the quiver, the king said – ‘O foolish Nilgai! People call you a fool, that’s right. What do you say? I have killed thousands of creatures like you, yet the Triloki has not been destroyed till date. Then how will the Triloki be destroyed by your one death?’
Then that nilgai said – ‘Even though I am a fool, but oh king! You are blind with the eye of thought, because of this you cannot see the truth. Close your eyes Look, do you see the world anywhere? Similarly, when one day your eyes will be closed forever, then where will the world be for you?
After closing your eyes, after leaving your soul, your world will be nowhere. Similarly, if you kill me, then from my point of view, all the three worlds will be destroyed, right? Because ‘Aap Muye, Jag Pralay’ is there. Kabirji also says that ‘the world has sunk behind me’.
The king found this to be true. His eyes of knowledge opened. He did not kill Nilgai and he returned home.
