यूरोपके इतिहासमें मार्टिन लूथरका नाम स्वर्णाक्षरोंमें अङ्कित है। वे अपने समयके बहुत बड़े आध्यात्मिक नेता थे; उन्होंने मध्यकालीन यूरोपमें धार्मिक क्रान्ति की थी। यूरोपियन राजाओं और सामन्तोंकी दृष्टिमें वे बड़े सम्मानित व्यक्ति थे।
एक समयकी बात है। लूथर डाउगरकी रानीके साथ भोजन कर रहे थे। रानीने उनके कार्योंकी प्रशंसाकी और कहा कि ‘बड़ा अच्छा हो यदि आप आनेवाले चालीस वर्षोंतक जीवित रहें ।’
‘महोदया! मैं समझता हूँ कि यदि मैं चालीस सालतक और जीवित रहा तो इतने समयमें मेरे हाथसे स्वर्ग ही निकल जायगा ।’ लूथरके शब्द थे । रानी महात्मा लूथरके उद्गारसे स्तब्ध हो गयी।

Martin Luther’s name is written in golden letters in the history of Europe. He was a great spiritual leader of his time; He did religious revolution in medieval Europe. He was a very respected person in the eyes of European kings and feudal lords.
Once upon a time. Luther was dining with the Dowager Queen. The queen praised his work and said that ‘it would be great if you lived for the next forty years’.
‘Madam! I understand that if I live for forty more years, then heaven will slip out of my hands.’ Luther’s words. The queen was shocked by the speech of Mahatma Luther.
