ज्ञानका मोल
चीनी यात्री ह्यू-एन-त्सांगने नालन्दा विश्वविद्यालय में शिक्षा पूर्णकर कुछ दिनोंतक अध्यापन कार्य भी किया। तत्पश्चात् उसने स्वदेश जानेका निश्चय किया। पन्द्रह चीनी विद्यार्थियोंको जब यह खबर लगी कि ह्यू-एन त्सांग चीन जा रहे हैं, तो वे भी उसके साथ हो लिये, ताकि उसके सत्संगका अवसर प्राप्त हो। ह्यू-एन त्सांगने नालन्दामें अध्यापन करते वक्त कुछ ग्रन्थ लिखे थे तथा कुछ खरीदे भी थे, वे उन्हें भी अपने साथ ले जा रहे थे।
एक नौका तय की गयी और वे सब लोग ग्रन्थों सहित वहाँसे रवाना हुए। उनका दुर्भाग्य ही कहिये कि रास्तेमें तूफान आया और नौका हिचकोले खाने लगी। नाविक ह्यू-एन-त्सांगसे बोला- ‘महाशयजी ! यह नाव भारी हो गयी है। आगे जाना मुश्किल है। आप कृपया ये मोटी-मोटी पुस्तकें फेंक दें।’ ह्यू-एन-त्सांग पसोपेशमें पड़ गये कि इतनेमें एक विद्यार्थी खड़ा हुआ और बोला- ‘गुरुदेव ! इन पुस्तकोंको कदापि न फेंकियेगा; क्योंकि ये ज्ञानामृतसे परिपूर्ण हैं, जिनका हमारे देशवासियोंके लिये उपयोग हो सकेगा। हम यदि स्वदेश न भी पहुँचे, तो इससे किसीका नुकसान होनेवाला नहीं है।’ यह कहकर उसने अपने साथियोंकी ओर देखा और वे सारे के-सारे विद्यार्थी बिना हिचक सागरमें कूद पड़े।
value of knowledge
Chinese traveler Hiu-en-Tsang also did teaching work for a few days after completing his education at Nalanda University. After that he decided to go home. When fifteen Chinese students got the news that Hiu-en Tsang was going to China, they also joined him, so that they could get the opportunity of his satsang. Hiu-en Tsang had written some books while teaching at Nalanda and had also bought some, he was taking them with him.
A boat was fixed and they all left from there with the books. It is their misfortune that there was a storm on the way and the boat started hitching. The sailor said to Hue-en-Tsang – ‘ Sir! This boat has become heavy. It’s hard to move forward. You please throw away these thick books.’ Hue-en-Tsang was confused when a student stood up and said – ‘Gurudev! Never throw these books; Because they are full of nectar of knowledge, which can be useful for our countrymen. Even if we do not reach home, no one is going to be harmed by this.’ Saying this he looked at his friends and all of them jumped into the ocean without hesitation.
