समूहमें शक्ति होती है
किसी वनमें एक तमालके वृक्षपर घोंसला बनाकर घटक पक्षी (गौरैया) का एक जोड़ा रहता था। कालान्तरमे । चटकाने अंडे दिये, अभी अंडोंसे बच्चे निकल भी न पाये। है कि एक दिन एक मतवाले हाथीने आकर वृक्षकी उस हाखाको तोड़ डाला, जिसपर चटक-दम्पतीका घोंसला था। चटक- दम्पती तो भाग्यवश बच गये, परंतु सारे अंडे फूट गये।
चटका व्यथित हृदय हो रुदन करने लगी, उसे किसी भी प्रकारसे शान्ति न मिल सकी। चटक-दम्पतीका साथी’कठफोरवा’ नामका एक पक्षी था। चटकाको रुदन करते देख वह उसके समीप जाकर सान्त्वना देने लगा। चटकाने कहा- उस दुष्ट हाथीने हमारे घाँसलेको तोड़ दिया है और सारे अंडोंको भी फोड़ डाला है, अतः उसे दण्ड मिलना ही चाहिये। बिना उसे दण्ड दिलाये मेरे हृदयको शान्ति नहीं।
कठफोरवाने कहा- देवि! हमलोग उस हाथीके सामने तुच्छ हैं, परंतु संगठनमें बड़ी शक्ति होती है। हम लोग सामूहिकरूपसे प्रयास करके उससे बदला ले सकते हैं। मेरी मित्र ‘वीणारवा’ नामकी एक मक्खी है, मैं उससे भी सहायता करनेको कहूँगा।
चटकाको आश्वासन देकर कठफोरवा ‘वीणारवा’ मक्खीके पास गया। वीणारवाने चटकाकी दुःखद घटना सुनकर कहा कि मैं तुम्हारी सहायता अवश्य करूंगी, पर तुम्हें मेरे मित्र ‘मेघनाद’ नामक मेढकके पास चलना होगा। वह बहुत ही बुद्धिमान् है और उसको योजनासे हमलोग अवश्य ही हाथीको पराजित कर सकेंगे।
कठफोरवा और वीणारवाकी बात सुनकर मेघनादने कहा- हम जीव समुदायके संगठनके समक्ष वह हाथी क्या चीज है? इसलिये आप सब मेरी योजनानुसार काम करें। कल दोपहरमें बीणारवा मक्खी हाथीके कानके पास जाकर वीणा जैसी मधुर ध्वनिका गुंजार करेगी, जिसे सुनकर हाथी मुग्ध हो अपने नेत्र बन्द कर लेगा। ठीक उसी समय कठफोरवा हाथीकी दोनों आँखोंको अपनी सूजे-जैसी चोंचसे फोड़ देगा। अन्धा हाथी जब प्याससे व्याकुल होगा तो मैं एक बड़े गड्डेके पाससे अपने परिवारजनोंक साथ टर्र-टर्रकी आवाज करूंगा, जिससे उसे जलका भ्रम होगा और वह गड्ढे में आकर
गिर जायगा तथा भूख-प्याससे तड़प-तड़पकर मर जायगा।
अगले दिन उन सबने इसी प्रकार योजनाबद्ध ढंगसे हाथीको अन्धा करके गड्ढे में गिरा दिया और वह मदमत्त हाथी वहीं भूखा-प्यासा तड़प-तड़पकर मर गया।
इस प्रकार नीति यह बताती है कि समूहमें बड़ी शक्ति होती है। संगठन और समूह भावनासे कार्य करनेपर बड़े-से-बड़ा कार्य भी सम्भव हो जाता है। मैत्री भावसे सभी कार्य सम्पन्न हो जाते हैं और सन्तोष भी प्राप्त होता है। [पंचतन्त्र, मित्रभेद]

In a forest, a pair of Ghatak birds (Gauraiya) lived by making a nest on a tamala tree. Over time. Gave the eggs crackling, yet the children could not even come out of the eggs. It is said that one day a drunken elephant came and broke the branch of the tree on which the couple’s nest was situated. The chatak couple were fortunately saved, but all the eggs broke.
Chatka was heartbroken and started crying, she could not find peace in any way. Chatak-couple’s companion was a bird named ‘Kathforwa’. Seeing Chatka crying, he went near him and started consoling him. Chatkane said – That evil elephant has broken our nest and also destroyed all the eggs, so it must be punished. There is no peace in my heart without punishing him.
The woodcutters said – Devi! We are insignificant in front of that elephant, but there is great power in the organization. We can take revenge from him by making a collective effort. My friend is a fly named ‘Veenarava’, I will ask her to help too.
By assuring Chatka, Kathforva ‘Veenarava’ went to the fly. Veenaravane heard Chatka’s sad incident and said that I will definitely help you, but you will have to go to my friend ‘Meghnad’, a frog. He is very intelligent and with his planning we will definitely be able to defeat the elephant.
After listening to Kathforva and Veenarava, Meghnad said – What is that elephant in front of the organization of the living community? That’s why all of you work according to my plan. Tomorrow in the afternoon, the beenarava fly will go near the elephant’s ear and hum a melodious sound like a veena, listening to which the elephant will be mesmerized and close its eyes. At the same time, the woodpecker will burst both the eyes of the elephant with his swollen beak. When the blind elephant will be distraught with thirst, I will make a sound of turr-turr along with my family members near a big pit, due to which it will get the illusion of water and it will come into the pit.
Will fall down and will die in agony of hunger and thirst.
The next day, all of them blinded the elephant in a planned way and dropped it in the pit and that intoxicated elephant died there in agony of hunger and thirst.
Thus, the proverb tells that there is great power in the group. By working with organization and group spirit, even the biggest task becomes possible. With friendship, all tasks are completed and satisfaction is also achieved. [Panchatantra, Friendship]
