धन ही तो बाधा है
गोपाल्लव नामक सेठ हर समय धनार्जनके जुगाड़में लगा रहता था। जैसे-जैसे धन-सम्पत्ति बढ़ती जाती थी, उसकी आकांक्षाएँ – इच्छाएँ भी बढ़तीं। उसने धनको परोपकार एवं धर्मकार्योंमें कभी खर्च नहीं किया। न कभी भगवान्की भक्ति एवं सत्संगमें रुचि रही। नगरके लोग धनके प्रति अत्यधिक आसक्ति देखकर उसे ‘धन पिशाच’ कहने लगे थे।
भोग-विलास एवं ऐश्वर्यने गोपाल्लवको अनेक शारीरिक बीमारियोंसे ग्रस्त कर दिया। असाध्य रोगसे ग्रस्त होनेपर वह सोचने लगा कि तूने कभी अच्छा कर्म नहीं किया। भगवान्की पूजा-उपासना नहीं की। अन्तिम समयमें असीमित धनका क्या होगा? इसी चिन्तामें शय्यापर लेटे सेठको किसीके मधुर कण्ठसे भगवान्के भजन गानेकी ध्वनि सुनायी दी। भजनमें कहा गया था कि मरते समय न बेटे-पोते साथ देते हैं, न धन-सम्पत्ति साथ जाती है। केवल भगवान्की भक्ति एवं सत्कर्म ही कल्याण करते हैं। सेठने सेवकसे कहा-‘बाहर बैठकर भजन गानेवालेको मकानके अन्दर बुला लाओ।’
उसने कहा- ‘वह कोई संगीतकार नहीं है। मोची है, वह जूते गाँठते मस्तीमें भगवान्की प्रशस्तिमें गीत गाता है।’
‘कोई बात नहीं, उसे ही अन्दर ले आओ।’
‘अच्छी बात है।’
इस प्रकार सेठने उसे आदरसहित अन्दर बुलवाया, विनम्रताके साथ उसे स्वर्णमुद्रा देते हुए कहा-‘ -‘तुम्हारे मधुर कण्ठसे गाये गये गीतने मुझे बहुत शान्ति प्रदान की है। कल फिर आकर गीत सुनाना। इनाम दूँगा।’ तीन दिन बाद मोची सेठके पास आया। स्वर्णमुद्रा | लौटाते हुए कहा- ‘इस स्वर्णमुद्राकी रक्षाकी चिन्तामें मैं भगवान्के भजन एवं मस्तीसे विमुख हो गया। सम्पत्ति एवं धनके रहते वह अनूठा आनन्द मिलना असम्भव है।’
मोचीके शब्दोंने सेठ गोपाल्लवका विवेक जगा दिया। उसने अपनी तमाम सम्पत्ति गरीबोंमें वितरित कर दी तथा भगवान्की भक्तिमें लग गया और तब उसका शरीर भी नीरोग हो गया। [ श्रीशिवकुमारजी गोयल ]
money is the only obstacle
A Seth named Gopallav was always busy in making money. As the wealth kept increasing, his aspirations and desires also increased. He never spent money in charity and religious works. Was never interested in devotion to God and satsang. Seeing excessive attachment towards money, the people of the city started calling him ‘money vampire’.
Enjoyment and luxury made Gopallav suffer from many physical ailments. When he was suffering from incurable disease, he started thinking that you have never done good deeds. Didn’t worship God. What will happen to unlimited money in the last time? In this worry, Seth, lying on the bed, heard the sound of someone’s melodious voice singing hymns to God. It was said in the hymn that at the time of death neither sons and grandsons accompany them, nor wealth goes with them. Only devotion to God and good deeds do good. Seth said to the servant – ‘Bring the one who sings bhajans sitting outside and bring them inside the house.’
He said- ‘He is not a musician. He is a cobbler, he sings songs in praise of God while tying his shoes.
‘No problem, just bring him in.’
‘that’s good.’
In this way Seth called him inside with respect, politely giving him the gold coin and said-‘ -‘ The songs sung by your sweet voice have given me a lot of peace. Come again tomorrow and recite the song. Will reward. After three days the cobbler came to Seth. gold coin | Returning, he said- ‘In worrying about the protection of this gold coin, I got distracted from the hymns and fun of God. It is impossible to get that unique joy in the presence of wealth and money.
Cobbler’s words awakened the conscience of Seth Gopallav. He distributed all his wealth among the poor and started worshiping God and then his body also became healthy. [Shri Shivkumarji Goyal]
