परमहंस रामकृष्णदेवके भक्त शिष्य डा0 दुर्गाचरण नाग आदर्श पुरुष । एक समय वे अपने देशमें थे। पुआलसे छाये हुए घरकी छान टूट गयी थी। उससे जल गिरता था। नागजीकी माताने छान ठीक करानेके लिये थवई (छानेवाले)-को बुलाया । थवईके घरमें आते हीनाग महाशय चिन्तामें पड़ गये। उन्होंने उसे आदरपूर्वक बैठाया, चिलम सजा दी। कुछ देर बाद जब वह छानपर चढ़कर काम करने लगा, तब तो नाग महाशय हाथ जोड़कर उससे नीचे उतर आनेके लिये विनय करने लगे। जब वह नहीं उतरा, तब सिर पीट-पीटकर कहने लगे ‘हायपरमहंसदेव! तुमने क्यों मुझको गृहस्थाश्रममें रहनेके लिये आदेश दिया; मेरे सुखके लिये दूसरोंको कष्ट हो रहा है।’ नाग महाशयकी व्याकुलता देखकर थवई नीचे उतर आया।नाग महाशयने उसके लिये फिर चिलम सजा दी और खड़े होकर उसे हवा करने लगे। थकावट दूर होनेपर उसको दिनभरका मेहनताना देकर बिदा किया।
Dr. Durgacharan Nag, a devotee disciple of Paramhansa Ramakrishnadev, an ideal man. Once upon a time he was in his own country. The roof of the house covered with straw was broken. Water used to fall from it. Nagji’s mother called Thawai (strainer) to get the filter fixed. Coming to Thawai’s house, Heenag Mahasaya was worried. He made him sit respectfully, decorated the chillum. After some time, when he started working by climbing on the chhan, then Nag Mahashay with folded hands started pleading with him to come down. When he didn’t get down, they started banging their heads and saying ‘Hypermahansdev! Why did you order me to live in Grihasthashram; Others are suffering for my happiness. Seeing Nag Mahashay’s preoccupation, Thawai came down. Nag Mahashay again decorated the pipe for him and stood up and started blowing it. When the tiredness went away, he was given the whole day’s wages and sent him off.
