महाशंकर
“वृक्षोंको शंकर क्यों कहते हैं?’ एक पुत्रने पितासे पूछा। पिताने वृक्षमें जल डालते हुए कहा-‘बेटा! समुद्रमन्थन हुआ, तब देव और दनुजाने सब कुछ बाँट लिया, पर विष लेनेको कोई तैयार न हुआ। तब उसे शंकरजीने पीकर मानवताकी रक्षा की।
शंकरजीने तो ऐसा एक बार किया, पर मनुष्य गन्दी साँस, धुआँ और सड़ाँध उत्पन्न किया करते हैं, उन्हें जीवन भर ये वृक्ष ही तो पान करके वायु शुद्ध रखते हैं। बोलो, यह क्या हुआ ?’-‘महाशंकर।’ पुत्रने उत्तर दिया।

“Why are trees called Shankar?” A son asked his father. The father poured water on the tree and said, “Son! The churning of the ocean took place, then the gods and goddesses distributed everything, but no one was ready to take the poison. Shankarji then drank it and saved humanity.”
Shankarji did this once, but humans create bad breath, smoke and rot, these trees keep the air pure by drinking them throughout their life. Tell me, what happened?’-‘Mahashankar.’ The son replied.
