सच्ची शिक्षा

रविशंकर महाराज एक गाँवमें सवा सौ मन गुड़ बाँट रहे थे। एक लड़कीको वे जब गुड़ देने लगे, तब उसने इन्कार करते हुए कहा-‘मैं नहीं लूंगी।”

‘क्यों?’ महाराजने पूछा। ‘मुझे शिक्षा मिली है कि यों नहीं लेना चाहिये।’

तो कैसे लेना चाहिये ?”

‘ईश्वरने दो हाथ तथा दो पैर दिये हैं और उनके बीचमें पेट दिया है। इसलिये मुफ्त कुछ भी नहीं लेना चाहिये। यह तो आप मुफ्त दे रहे हैं, मजदूरीसे मिले। तो ही लेना चाहिये।’

महाराजको आश्चर्य हुआ । इसको ऐसी शिक्षा देनेवाला कौन है, यह जाननेके लिये उन्होंने पूछा- ‘तुझे यह सीख किसने दी ?’

‘मेरी माँने।’

महाराज उसकी मौके पास गये और पूछा—’तुमने लड़कीको यह सीख कैसे दी ?”

‘क्यों महाराज? मैंने इसमें नयी बात क्या कही ? भगवान्ने हाथ-पग दिये हैं, तब मुफ्त क्यों लेना चाहिये ?’

‘तुमने धर्मशास्त्र पढ़े हैं?”

‘तुम्हारी आजीविका किस प्रकार चलती है ?’

‘भगवान् सिरपर बैठा है मैं लकड़ी काट लाती हूँ और उससे अनाज मिल जाता है। लड़की राँध लेती है।’ यों मजदूरीसे हमारा गुजरान सुख-संतोषके साथ निभ रहा है। ‘तो इस लड़कीके पिताजी ….।’वह बहिन उदास हो गयी, कुछ देर ठहरकर | बोली-‘लड़कीके पिता थोड़ी उम्र लेकर आये थे। जवानीमें ही वे हमें अकेले छोड़कर चले गये। यद्यपि लगभग तीस बीघे जमीन और दो बैल वे छोड़ गये थे. तो भी मैंने विचार किया कि इस सम्पत्तिमें मेरा क्या लेना-देना है, मैं कब इसके लिये पसीना बहाने गय थी?’ अथवा यदि मैं पुरानी बुढ़िया होती या अपंग अथवा अशक्त होती तो अपने लिये सम्पत्तिका उपयोग भी करती। परंतु ऐसी तो मैं थी नहीं। मेरे मनमें आया कि इस सम्पत्तिका क्या करूँ और भगवान्ने ही मुझे यह सुझाव दिया कि यदि यह सम्पत्ति गाँवके किसी भलाई के काममें लगा दी जाय तो बहुत अच्छा हो। मैंने सोचा, ऐसा कौन-सा कार्य हो सकता है-मेरी समझमें यह आया कि इस गाँवमें जलकी बहुत तकलीफ है, इसलिये कुँआ बनवा दूँ। मैंने सम्पत्ति बेच दी और उससे मिली हुई रकम एक सेठको सौंपकर उनसे कहा कि ‘आप इन पैसोंसे एक कुँआ बनवा दें।’ सेठ भले आदमी थे। उन्होंने परिश्रम और कोर-कसर करके कुऍके साथ ही उसी रकममेंसे पशुओंके जल पीनेके लिये खेल भी बनवा दी।’

इस प्रकार उस बहिनने पतिकी सम्पत्तिका हक | छोड़ करके उसका सद्व्यय किया। उसे नहीं तो उसके हृदयको तो इतनी शिक्षा अवश्य मिली होगी कि ‘मैं जो पतिको व्याही गयी हूँ सो सम्पत्तिके लिये नहीं, पर ईश्वरकी – सत्यकी प्राप्तिके मार्गमें आगे बढ़नेके लिये ही ब्याही गयी हूँ।’ इस प्रकारकी समझ तथा संस्कारसे बढ़कर और कौन-सी शिक्षा हो सकती है।

Ravi Shankar Maharaj was distributing 125 hundred maunds of jaggery in a village. When they started giving jaggery to a girl, she refused and said – ‘I will not take it.
‘Why?’ Maharaj asked. ‘I have been taught not to take it lightly.’
So how should I take it?”
‘God has given two hands and two legs and stomach in between them. That’s why nothing should be taken for free. You are giving this free of cost, you get it for wages. That’s why it should be taken.
Maharaj was surprised. To know who is the one who gave him such teachings, he asked – ‘Who gave you this lesson?’
‘My mother.’
Maharaj went near her spot and asked – ‘How did you teach this lesson to the girl?”
‘Why sir? What new thing did I say in this? God has given you hands and feet, then why should you take it for free?’
‘Have you read the scriptures?’
‘How do you make a living?’
‘God is sitting on the head, I cut wood and get grains from it. The girl cries.’ With this wage, our livelihood is being fulfilled with happiness and satisfaction. ‘So the father of this girl…..’ That sister became sad, after stopping for a while. She said-‘ The girl’s father had brought a little age. He left us alone when we were young. Although he had left about thirty bighas of land and two bullocks. Even then I thought what do I have to do with this property, when did I go to sweat for it?’ Or if I were an old woman or crippled or disabled, I would have used the property for myself. But I was not like that. I thought what to do with this property and God suggested to me that it would be great if this property is used for some good work in the village. I thought, what can be done like this – I understood that there is a lot of water problem in this village, so I should get a well made. I sold the property and handed over the money received from it to a Seth and asked him to make a well with this money. Seth was a good man. With hard work and effort, he got the well made as well as a game for the animals to drink water with the same amount.’
In this way, the right of that sister’s husband’s property. By leaving him, he did good. If not for him, then his heart must have received so much education that ‘I am married to the husband, not for wealth, but only to move forward in the path of attaining God’s truth’. What other education can be better than this kind of understanding and culture.
