शास्त्रीजीकी नियमनिष्ठा
यह घटना उन दिनोंकी है, जब लालबहादुर शास्त्री भारतके गृहमन्त्री थे। शास्त्रीजीकी सादगी सर्वविदित है। वे स्वयंपर अथवा अपने परिवारपर तनिक भी अनावश्यक खर्च नहीं करते थे। उनका रहन-सहन आम लोगों जैसा ही था। राष्ट्रके अति महत्त्वपूर्ण पदपर आसीन होनेके बावजूद भी उन्होंने कभी अपने अधिकारोंका दुरुपयोग नहीं किया।
एक बार इलाहाबाद स्थित निवासके मकान (मालिकने उनसे मकान खाली करनेका अनुरोध किया, जिसे शास्त्रीजीने तत्काल मान लिया। वास्तवम मकान मालिकको उस निवास-स्थानकी अति आवश्यकता थी और शास्त्रीजी स्वयंसे अधिक दूसरोंकी जरूरतोंका ख्याल रखते थे। अतः उन्होंने मकान खाली कर दिया और किरायेपर दूसरा मकान लेनेके लिये आवेदन-पत्र भरा। काफी समय बाद भी शास्त्रीजीको मकान नहीं मिल सका, तो उनके किसी मित्रने अधिकारियोंसे पूछताछ की। अधिकारियोंने बताया कि शास्त्रीजीका कड़ा आदेश है कि जिस क्रममें उनका आवेदन-पत्र दर्ज है, उसी क्रमके अनुसार मकान दिया जाय। कोई पक्षपात न किया जाय। और सच तो यह था कि 176 आवेदकोंके नाम शास्त्रीजीसे पहले दर्ज थे, इसलिये देशका गृहमन्त्री मकानके लिये लम्बे समयतक प्रतीक्षारत रहा।
इस घटनाका सार यह है कि नियम-कानूनका पालन यदि साधारण लोगोंके साथ विशिष्टजन भी पूरी ईमानदारीसे करें तो समाजसे भ्रष्टाचार जड़से समाप्त हो जाय। [ श्रीमती अनीताजी कुमावत ]
Shastriji’s discipline
This incident dates back to those days when Lal Bahadur Shastri was the Home Minister of India. Shastriji’s simplicity is well known. He did not spend unnecessarily on himself or his family. His lifestyle was like that of common people. Despite occupying the most important position of the nation, he never misused his authority.
Once the owner of the house in Allahabad requested him to vacate the house, which Shastriji immediately agreed to. Actually the landlord was in dire need of that residence and Shastriji took care of the needs of others more than himself. So he vacated the house and rented another house. Filled the application form to buy a house. Even after a long time, Shastriji could not get the house, so one of his friends inquired with the officials. The officials told that there is a strict order of Shastriji that the house should be given according to the order in which his application form is registered. No favoritism should be done and the fact was that the names of 176 applicants were registered before Shastriji, so the home minister of the country waited for a long time for the house.
The essence of this incident is that if rules and regulations are followed by the common people with utmost sincerity, then corruption will be eradicated from the society. [ Mrs. Anitaji Kumawat ]
