एक गोपी कहती है-
उद्धव! एक बात कहें! आज हम धन्य हो गई हैं क्योंकि एक तो तुम्हे हमारे प्यारे कृष्ण ने हमारे लिए भेजा है।
और दूसरा अपनी आँखों से तुम्हे हमारे प्यारे कृष्ण को देखा है।
जिन नेत्रों से तुमने कृष्ण को देखा है उन नेत्रों से तुम मुझे झांक रही हो।
उद्धव कहते हैं-
हे गोपियों! तुम जान बूझकर बावली मत बनो। तत्व (निर्गुण ब्रह्म) के भजन से तुम भी इसी प्रकार तत्वमय(निर्गुण ब्रह्म में रमण करने वाली) हो जाओगी।जैसे पारस के स्पर्श से लोहा सोना हो जाता है।
तुम सब सांसारिक मोह बंधन छोड़ दो।
एक गोपी उद्धव का उपहास उड़ाकर कहती है-
हे उद्धव! तुम्हारी तो अच्छी-खासी सद्बुद्धि थी,
किन्तु निर्गुण ब्रह्म के चक्कर में पड़कर तुमने उसे भी खो दिया है।
तुम्हारे इस उपदेश के कारण तुम्हारी ब्रज में हंसी हो रही है।
तुम इसे अपने अंदर ही छिपाकर रखो,किसी को मत दिखाओ।
तुम्हारी उल्टी-सीधी बातें कौन सुनता रहेगा।
यदि तुम ग्वालिनो को योग सीखने का काम करोगे तो लोग तुम्हे मूर्ख ही कहेंगे।तुम्हे एक बात बताएं
उद्धव-अँखियाँ हरि दर्शन की भूखी।
अँखियाँ हरि दर्शन की प्यासी।
हमारी आँखे तो केवल श्रीहरि के दर्शनों के लिए ही अत्यधिक भूखी हैं, हमारी आँखें तो केवल हरि दर्शन की प्यासी हैं।
जब से श्यामसुंदर ब्रज से गए हैं ना उद्धव तभी से हमारा मन उनमे अटक गया है।हमने बहुत निकलने की कोशिश की लेकिन मन वहां से हट ही नही रहा है।
उद्धव वैसे तो हमारे सारे अंग दुखी हैं लेकिन विशेष रूप से हमारी आँखें रात-दिन उनके जाने के कष्ट से दुखती रहती हैं।एक क्षण के लिए भी चैन से नही बैठती।बस उनके आने के मार्ग देखती रहती हैं।
एक क्षण के लिए भी पालक नही झपकती की ना जाने कब श्यामसुंदर आ जाये और हम उनके दर्शन से वंचित रह जाएँ।
फिर एक सखी कहते है-
देखो,आओ सखियों!
मथुरा से पांडे जी योग सीखने आये हैं।जो पांडे खा पीकर मस्त रहते है वो आज योग की चिट्ठी लेकर आये हैं?
उद्धव जी कहते हैं:- हे गोपियों ! (आत्म व निर्गुण) ज्ञान के बिना कहीं भी,कुछ भी सुख नहीं है।तुम लोग निर्गुण को छोड़कर सगुण के पीछे क्यों दौड़ती हो?
अच्छा चलो,ये बताओ वो सगुण ब्रह्म किसके पास,और फिर तुम्हे उससे क्या मिल गया?[केवल विरह ही तो मिला जिसे तुम दिन रात भोग रही हो।]
गोपियाँ कहती हैं:-उद्धव तुमने बहुत बोल लिया।अब एक शब्द ना बोलना। कृष्ण की आराधना छोड़कर निर्गुण की बात कहने से हमारे प्राणों पर आघात होता हैं,
फिर चाहे तुम्हारे लिए ये हंसी की बात हो।हमें हर पल मोहन का ध्यान रहता हैं।उनके दर्शनों के बिना तो जिन ही बेकार हैं।हमें तो रात-दिन श्याम का ही स्मरण रहता हैं,
तुम्हारे योग की अग्नि में यहाँ कौन जलेगा।
अरे उद्धव! तुम हरि को अंतर्यामी बताते हो,पर वे काहे के अंतर्यामी हैं,अगर अंतर्यामी होते तो कये वे यह न जानते की उनके बिना हम गोपियाँ किस प्रकार विरह में व्याकुल होकर एक-एक पल काट रही हैं?
इतने दुखी होने पर भी वो एक बार हमसे मिलने नही आये।
तुम निर्गुण ब्रह्म की बात कर रहे हो,यह बताओ वह निर्गुण ब्रह्म रहता कहाँ हैं? वो किस देश का वासी हैं। उसकी माँ कौन हैं?
पिता कौन हैं?
वह किस नारी का दास हैं।
उसका रंग कैसा हैं?
उसका वेश कैसा हैं?
वह कैसा श्रृंगार करता हैं।
और उसकी रूचि किस चीज में हैं?
गोपियाँ कहती हैं-उद्धव! अब तुम्हारे पास हमारी इन बातों का कोई जवाब नही हैं।हमें तो
लगता हैं एक ओर वो कृष्ण हैं जिसके दास ब्रह्मा हैं।दूसरी ओर वो कुब्जा हैं जो कंस की दासी हैं।
वो कुब्जा से प्रेम करके मथुरा में रह रहे हैं।अब तो कृष्ण मथुरावासी हो गए हैं ना! अरे उस कन्हैया ने क्या सोचकर कुब्जा से प्रेम कर लिया।
उन्हें हमारी जरा भी याद नही आई।उद्धव तुम एक बात कान खोलकर सुन लो।
[तुम्हारा यह योग रूपी ठगी का सौदा ब्रज में नही बिकेगा।
तुम्हे मूली के पत्तों के बदले कौन मोतियों का हार देगा।
[ऐसा कौन मूर्ख होगा जो मीठी किश्मिश (दाख) को छोड़कर कड़वी नीम की निम्बोली को अपने मुहँ में लेगा।हमने कृष्ण से प्रेम किया हैं उद्धव! उनके गुणों पर मोहित होकर प्रेम किया हैं,
अब तुम्हारे इस निर्गुण ब्रह्म का निर्वाह कौन करेगा।]
हे उद्धव! जबसे यहाँ से गोपाल गए हैं ना तबसे यह पूरा व्रज विरह की अग्नि में जल रहा हैं।
बस हम उन्ही को याद करती हैं।
उद्धव जी बोले-गोपियों! हरि का सन्देश सुनो! हम तुम पृथ्वी,जल,अग्नि,वायु और आकाश से मिलकर बने हैं।मैं जिस ब्रह्म की बात कर रहा हूँ ना,उसकी ना कोई माँ हैं,ना कोई पिता हैं।ना स्त्री हैं।
ना उसका कोई नाम हैं और ना कोई रूप ठिकाना हैं।
गोपियाँ कहती हैं:-उद्धव ऐसी बात मत कहो।सुनो हमारे भगवान कैसे हैं।
तुम्हारे नही दीखते होंगे ठीक हैं लेकिन हमारे भगवान को देखो।
हमारे भगवान सुबह उठकर माखन चुराने के लिए गोपियों के घर चले जाते है।फिर वो गौए चराने जाते हैं।और जब श्याम को वो लौटते हैं ना तो उनकी शोभा देखकर हम अपना तन मन भूल जाती हैं।
तू योग की बात करता हैं ना तेरा योग और निर्गुण ब्रह्म की बात हमें ऐसे कष्ट दे रही हैं जैसे जले पे नमक।
योगी जिस ब्रह्म तक कभी पहुंचा नही होगा उसी भगवान को माँ माखन के चुराने पर ऊखल से बाँध देती है।
उद्धव काश हमारे पास दस-बीस मन होते।एक मन हम तुम्हारे उस निर्गुण ब्रह्म को भी दे देती।
अब थक हार कर गोपियाँ व्यंग्य करना बंद कर उद्धव को अपने तन मन की दशा कहती हैं।
उद्धव हतप्रभ हैं,
भक्ति के इस अदभुत स्वरूप से।
हे उद्धव हमारे मन दस बीस तो हैं नहीं,
एक था वह भी श्याम के साथ चला गया।अब किस मन से ईश्वर की अराधना करें?
उनके बिना हमारी इन्द्रियां शिथिल हैं,शरीर मानो बिना सिर का हो गया है,बस उनके दरशन की क्षीण सी आशा हमें करोड़ों वषर् जीवित रखेगी।
तुम तो कान्ह के सखा हो,योग के पूणर् ज्ञाता हो।तुम कृष्ण के बिना भी योग के सहारे अपना उद्धार कर लोगे।हमारा तो नंदकुमार कृष्ण के सिवा कोई ईश्वर नहीं है।
गोपियाँ कहती हैं उद्धव! हम तुम्हारी बात केवल एक शर्त पर मान सकती हैं:- यदि तुम अपने निर्गुण ब्रह्म को मोर मुकुट और पीताम्बर धारण किये हुए दिखा दो तो।
उद्धव सच मानना हम तुम्हारी योग के योग्य नही हैं।हम कभी पढ़ने लिखने स्कूल नही गई तो हम ये सब बातें क्या जाने।पर उद्धव जब हम आँख बंद करती हैं तो हमें अपने भगवान की मूरत सामने दिखाई पड़ती है।
तुम्हे नही दीखता होगा लेकिन हमें तो दीखता है।
एक गोपी परिहास करते हुए कहती है कि:- उद्धव! हम तुम्हारी योग को ले तो लें पर यह तो बताओ कि योग का करते क्या हैं?
इसे ओढ़ा जाता है या बिछाया जाता है या किसी स्वादिष्ट भोज्य पदार्थ की तरह खाया जाता है या पिया जाता है।ये कोई खिलौना है क्या या कोई सुंदर आभूषण है? उद्धव हमें तो केवल नंदनंदन चाहिए जो हमारे मन को मोहने वाले और हमारे प्राणों के जीवन हैं।
उद्धव हमारे कृष्ण गोवर्धन पर्वतधारी हैं।उनके हाथ में बांस की बंसी सदा रहती है।
वो वृन्दावन की भूमि पर नंगे पैर रहते हैं।लेकिन उनके जाने के बाद बस हम उनकी प्रतीक्षा में बैठी रहती हैं।उन्ही को याद करती रहती हैं।
एक गोपी श्री राधा रानी की विरह दशा का वर्णन करते हुए कहती हैं कि:-
हे उद्धव! अन्य गोपियाँ तो जैसी है वो तो ठीक हैं पर राधा की स्थिति सबसे खराब है।
राधा जी बहुत दुखी और मलिन हैं।
वे हमेशा नीचे की ओर मुख करके बैठी रहती हैं।
आँखे उठकर भी नही देखती हैं।उनकी करुणामयी दशा उस दुखी जुआरी की भांति है जो जुए में अपनी सारी पूंजी हार गया हो।
उनके बाल बिखरे हुए हैं।मुख इस प्रकार कुमलया हुआ है।
जैसे तुषार की मारी हुई कमलिनी हो।और उद्धव तुम्हारी उपदेश सुनकर वो एकदम मृतप्राय हो गई है,
क्योंकि एक तो विरह-व्यथा से पहले ही मरणासन्न थी,
दूसरे उद्धव जी के इन उपदेश ने आकर जल दिया है।
वे श्याम सुंदर के बिना कैसे जी पाएंगी?
गोपियाँ कहती हैं:-
योग को रमावें समाधि को लगावें इहाँ,
सुख दुःख साधन सों निपट निवेरी हैं।
कह रत्नाकर ना जाने क्यों इते जो आज, सासन की सासना की बसना बिखेरी है,
हम यमराज की धरावत जमान कछु, सुरपति सम्पति की चाहत ना ढेरी है।
चेरी हैं ना उधो काउ ब्रह्म के बाबा की हम, सूधो कह देत एक कान की कमेरी है।
उधो,हम एक बात जाने,जग दूजी पहचाने नाहिं, हम हैं बिहारी के और बिहारी जी हमारे हैं॥
हम केवल इतना जानती हैं की वो श्यामसुंदर हमारा है और हम उनकी हैं।
यह तो प्रेम की बात है उधो,बंदगी तेरे बस की नहीं है।
यहाँ सर देके होते सौदे,आशकी इतनी सस्ती नहीं है॥
और उद्धव एक बात और जान लेना की ऐसा नही है की बिछुड़ने से प्रेम काम हो जाता है ये तो व्यापारी के ब्याज की तरह बढ़ता रहता है।
उधो! ये मत जानियो बिछुड़त प्रेम घटाए, व्यापारी के ब्याज सों बढ़त-बढ़त ही जाये।
श्याम तन श्याम मन श्याम ही हमारो धन,
आठों याम उधो,हमें श्याम ही सो काम है।
श्याम हिये श्याम जिए,श्याम बिनु नाहीं पिए,
आंधे की सी लाकडी आधार श्याम नाम है।
श्याम गति श्याम मति श्याम ही है प्राणपति,
श्याम सुखधाम सो भलाई आठो याम है।
उद्धो तुम भये बौरे, ..पाती लेके आये दौड़े….।
योग कहाँ राखे,यहाँ रोम-रोम श्याम हे।

A Gopi says- Uddhav! say something! Today we are blessed because our beloved Krishna has sent you for us.
And the other has seen you our dear Krishna with my own eyes. You are peeping at me with those eyes with which you have seen Krishna. Uddhav says-
Hey Gopis! Don’t be crazy on purpose. By worshiping Tatva (Nirgun Brahma), you will also become Tatvmay (one who delights in Nirgun Brahma). Like iron turns into gold by the touch of Paras.
Leave all worldly attachments. A Gopi ridicules Uddhav and says- Hey Uddhav! You had a lot of common sense, But you have lost that also by falling in the affair of Nirguna Brahman.
Because of this sermon of yours, you are laughing in Braj. You keep it hidden inside yourself, don’t show it to anyone. Who will keep listening to your dirty talk? If you do the work of teaching yoga to the cowherds, then people will call you a fool. Let me tell you one thing.
Uddhav-eyes hungry to see Hari. Eyes thirsty for Hari Darshan. Our eyes are very hungry only for the Darshan of Sri Hari, our eyes are thirsty only for the Darshan of Hari.
Ever since Shyamsundar left Braj, right Uddhav, our mind is stuck in him. We tried a lot to get out but the mind is not moving away.
Uddhav though all our parts are sad but especially our eyes keep hurting day and night due to the pain of his departure. He does not sit peacefully even for a moment.
Spinach doesn’t blink even for a moment, don’t know when Shyamsundar will come and we will be deprived of his darshan.
Then a friend says- Come on ladies! Pandey ji has come from Mathura to learn yoga. The Pandey who remains happy after eating and drinking, has brought a letter of yoga today?
Uddhav ji says :- Hey Gopis! (Self and Nirguna) Without knowledge, there is no happiness anywhere, nothing. Why do you people leave Nirguna and run after Saguna?
Well come on, tell me who has that Sagun Brahma, and then what did you get from him? [You only got separation which you are suffering day and night.] Gopis say :- Uddhav you have spoken a lot. Now don’t speak a word. Leaving the worship of Krishna and talking about Nirguna, our souls are hurt,
Even if it is a matter of laughter for you. We always remember Mohan.
Who will burn here in the fire of your yoga? Hey Uddhav! You call Hari an intercessor, but why is he an intercessor, if he was an intercessor, then why would he not know that without him how we gopis are spending every moment distraught in separation?
Despite being so sad, he did not come to meet us even once. You are talking about Nirgun Brahma, tell me where does that Nirgun Brahma reside? He is a resident of which country? Who is his mother? Who is the father?
To which woman is he a slave? what is its colour? How is his dress? How does he make up? And what is he interested in?
Gopis say – Uddhav! Now you have no answer to these things of mine.
It seems that on the one hand it is Krishna whose servant is Brahma. On the other hand it is Kubja who is the maidservant of Kansa.
He is living in Mathura having loved Kubja. Now Krishna has become a resident of Mathura, hasn’t he? Hey, what was that Kanhaiya thinking and fell in love with Kubja.
He didn’t remember us at all. Uddhav, listen to one thing with your ears open. [Your deal of cheating in the form of Yoga will not be sold in Braj. Who will give you a pearl necklace instead of radish leaves?
[Who would be such a fool who would leave the sweet raisins (grapes) and take the nimboli of bitter neem in his mouth. We have loved Krishna, Uddhav! Fascinated by his qualities and loved,
Now who will take care of this Nirgun Brahman of yours.] Hey Uddhav! Ever since Gopal has gone from here, this whole Vraj is burning in the fire of separation. We only remember Him.
Uddhav ji said – Gopis! Listen to Hari’s message! You and I are made up of earth, water, fire, air and sky. The Brahma I am talking about has no mother, no father, no woman. He has no name and no form or abode. Gopis say :- Uddhav don’t say such a thing. Listen how is our God.
You may not be able to see it, but look at our God. Our Lord wakes up early in the morning and goes to the Gopis’ houses to steal butter. Then he goes to graze the cows. And when he returns on Shyam, seeing his beauty, we forget our body and mind. You talk about yoga, don’t you? Your talk about yoga and Nirgun Brahma is giving us such pain like salt on the burn.
The Brahman to which the Yogi would never have reached, the same God is tied by the mother with a knot for stealing butter.
Uddhav, I wish we had ten-twenty minds. We would have given one mind to that Nirguna Brahma of yours as well.
Now after getting tired, the Gopis stop sarcasm and tell Uddhav the condition of their body and mind.
Uddhava is bewildered, From this wonderful form of devotion. Hey Uddhava, we don’t have ten or twenty hearts. There was one, he also went with Shyam. Now with what mind should we worship God?
Without him, our senses are relaxed, as if the body has become headless, just a faint hope of seeing him will keep us alive for millions of years.
You are Kanha’s friend, you are a complete knower of yoga. You will save yourself with the help of yoga even without Krishna. We have no God except Nandkumar Krishna.
Gopis say Uddhav! We can accept you only on one condition :- If you show your Nirguna Brahma wearing peacock crown and pitambar.
Uddhav, believe the truth, we are not worthy of your yoga. We have never gone to school to study, so how can we know all these things. But Uddhav, when we close our eyes, we see the idol of our God in front of us.
You may not see it but we can see it. A Gopi jokingly says that :- Uddhav! We can take your yoga, but tell me what do you do with yoga?
It is covered or spread or eaten or drunk like a delicious food. Is it a toy or a beautiful ornament? Uddhav, we only want Nandanandan who is the charmer of our mind and the life of our soul. Uddhav is our Krishna Govardhan Parvatdhari. Bamboo flute is always in his hand.
He lives barefoot on the land of Vrindavan. But after he leaves, we just sit waiting for him. We keep remembering him.
Describing the state of separation of Shri Radha Rani, a Gopi says that: –
Hey Uddhav! Other Gopis are fine as they are but Radha’s condition is worst.
Radha ji is very sad and dirty. They always sit facing down.
The eyes do not even look up. His pitiful condition is like that of a miserable gambler who has lost all his capital in gambling.
His hair is disheveled. His face is dry like this. Like Kamalini killed by Tushar. And Uddhav, after listening to your sermon, she has become completely dead,
Because one was already near death due to separation, Second, this sermon of Uddhav ji has come and burnt. How will she be able to live without Shyam Sunder? Gopis say:-
Ramaveen the yoga and put the samadhi here, Happiness and sorrow are dealt with by means. Don’t know why Ratnakar came here today, Sasan’s mother-in-law’s residence is scattered,
We are holding the bail of Yama, but the desire for wealth is not too much.
You are the cherry of Brahma’s Baba, don’t you?
Udho, we know one thing, the world doesn’t recognize others, we belong to Bihari and Bihari ji is ours.
We only know that Shyamsundar is ours and we are his. This is a matter of love, there, worship is not in your control. Here deals are done by giving head, hope is not so cheap.
And Uddhav, know one more thing that it is not that separation makes love work, it keeps increasing like the interest of a businessman.
Get up! Don’t know that separated love decreases, the interest of the businessman keeps on increasing. Shyam body, Shyam mind, Shyam is our wealth, Udho eight yams, we only have work in Shyam. Shyam hiye shyam jiye, shyam binu nahi peye, Shyam is the wooden base like a storm. Shyam Gati Shyam Mati Shyam is only Pranapati, Shyam Sukhdham So Bhalai Atho Yam Hai. Udho tum bhaye boure, .. came running with a leaf…. Where to keep yoga, here every hair is dark.
