यह मात्रिकाएँ (16 स्वर + 38 व्यंजन = 54 ) नाभि से आरम्भ होकर ओष्टों तक आती है, इनका एक बार चढ़ाव, दूसरी बार उतार होता है, दोनों बार में वे 108 की संख्या बन जाती हैं। इस प्रकार 108 मंत्र जप से नाभि चक्र से लेकर जिव्हाग्र तक की 108 सूक्ष्म तन्मात्राओं का प्रस्फुरण हो जाता है। अधिक जितना हो सके उतना उत्तम है पर नित्य कम से कम 108 मंत्रों का जप तो करना ही चाहिए ।।

मनुष्य शरीर की ऊँचाई………………

यज्ञोपवीत (जनेउ) की परिधि = (4 अँगुलियों) का 27 गुणा होती है।
अर्थात् 4 × 27 = 108
.
नक्षत्रों की कुल संख्या = 27
प्रत्येक नक्षत्र के चरण = 4
जप की विशिष्ट संख्या = 108
.
अर्थात् ॐ मंत्र जप कम से कम 108 बार करना चाहिये ।

एक अद्भुत अनुपातिक रहस्य…………….

पृथ्वी से सूर्य की दूरी/ सूर्य का व्यास = 108
पृथ्वी से चन्द्र की दूरी/ चन्द्र का व्यास = 108
अर्थात् मन्त्र जप 108 से कम नहीं करना चाहिये।

हिंसात्मक पापों की संख्या 36 मानी गई है जो मन, वचन व कर्म 3 प्रकार से होते है। अर्थात् 36×3=108। अत: पाप कर्म संस्कार निवृत्ति हेतु किये गये मंत्र जप को कम से कम 108 अवश्य ही करना चाहिये।

सामान्यत: 24 घंटे में एक व्यक्ति 21600 बार सांस लेता है। दिन-रात के 24 घंटों में से 12 घंटे सोने व गृहस्थ कर्तव्य में व्यतीत हो जाते हैं और शेष 12 घंटों में व्यक्ति जो सांस लेता है वह है 10800 बार। इस समय में ईश्वर का ध्यान करना चाहिए । शास्त्रों के अनुसार व्यक्ति को हर सांस पर ईश्वर का ध्यान करना चाहिये । इसीलिए 10800 की इसी संख्या के आधार पर जप के लिये 108 की संख्या निर्धारित करते हैं।

एक वर्ष में सूर्य 216000 कलाएं बदलता है। सूर्य वर्ष में दो बार अपनी स्थिति भी बदलता है। छःमाह उत्तरायण में रहता है, और छः माह दक्षिणायन में…………

अत: सूर्य छः माह की एक स्थिति में 108000 बार कलाएं बदलता है।

ब्रह्मांड को 12 भागों में विभाजित किया गया है। इन 12 भागों के नाम – मेष, वृष, मिथुन, कर्क, सिंह, कन्या, तुला, वृश्चिक, धनु, मकर, कुंभ और मीन हैं। इन 12 राशियों में नौ ग्रह सूर्य, चंद्र, मंगल, बुध, गुरु, शुक्र, शनि, राहु और केतु विचरण करते हैं। अत: ग्रहों की संख्या 9 में राशियों की संख्या को 12 से गुणा करें तो संख्या 108 प्राप्त हो जाती है।

108 में तीन अंक हैं, 1, 0 , 8. इनमें एक “1″ ईश्वर का प्रतीक है। ईश्वर का एक सत्ता है अर्थात ईश्वर १ है और मन भी एक है, शून्य “0″ प्रकृति को दर्शाता है। आठ “8″ जीवात्मा को दर्शाता है क्योंकि योग के अष्टांग नियमों से ही जीव प्रभु से मिल सकता है । जो व्यक्ति अष्टांग योग द्वारा प्रकृति के आठो मूल से विरक्त हो कर ईश्वर का साक्षात्कार कर लेता है उसे सिद्ध पुरुष कहते हैं। जीव “8″ को परमपिता परमात्मा से मिलने के लिए प्रकृति “0″ का सहारा लेना पड़ता है। ईश्वर और जीव के बीच में प्रकृति है। आत्मा जब प्रकृति को शून्य समझता है तभी ईश्वर “1″ का साक्षात्कार कर सकता है। प्रकृति “0″ में क्षणिक सुख है और परमात्मा में अनंत और असीम। जब तक जीव प्रकृति “0″ को जो कि जड़ है उसका त्याग नहीं करेगा , अर्थात शून्य नही करेगा, मोह माया को नहीं त्यागेगा तब तक जीव “8″ ईश्वर “1″ से नहीं मिल पायेगा, पूर्णता ( 1 + 8 = 9 ) को नहीं प्राप्त कर पायेगा ।

संख्या “1″ एक ईश्वर का संकेत है।
संख्या “0″ जड़ प्रकृति का संकेत है।
संख्या “8″ बहुआयामी जीवात्मा का संकेत है।

सौर परिवार के प्रमुख सूर्य के एक ओर से नौ रश्मियां निकलती हैं, और ये चारो ओर से अलग-अलग निकलती है। इस तरह कुल 36 रश्मियां हो गई। इन 36 रश्मियों के ध्वनियों पर संस्कृत के 36 स्वर बनें ।

इस तरह सूर्य की जब नौ रश्मियां पृथ्वी पर आती हैं, तो उनका पृथ्वी के आठ वसुओं से टक्कर होती हैं। सूर्य की नौ रश्मियां और पृथ्वी के आठ वसुओं के आपस में टकराने से जो 72 प्रकार की ध्वनियां उत्पन्न हुई वे संस्कृत के 72 व्यंजन बन गई। इस प्रकार ब्रह्मांड में निकलने वाली कुल 108 ध्वनियाँ पर संस्कृत की वर्ण माला आधारित है।
