एक बार अष्टसखा में से कुम्भनदास जी श्रीनाथजी को देखने के लिए इन्तजार कर रहे थे बड़ी आतुरता पूर्वक प्रभु की राह देख रहे थे उस दिन श्रीनाथजी को आने में विलंब हो गया पर कुछ देर बात श्रीनाथजी पधारे
तब कुम्भनदास जी बोले ,का बात है लाला आज तो बड़ी विलंब करि आवे में तब श्रीनाथजी बोले क्या बताऊँ ( श्रीनाथजी कुम्भनदास जी को प्रेम से कुम्भना कहते थे)
प्रभु बोले क्या बताऊँ कुम्भना आज चतुरानन ने रोटी और बरी को साग अरोगायो पर वो तो कम पड़ ग्यो में तो भूखों ही रह गयो ,
और दूसरी तरफ माधवानंद ने भोग भी सराय लियो दूसरी बार भोग लगाने को कहा पर वह पंडित उसमे भाव नहीं था सो मुझे संतोष प्राप्त नही हुआ में दूसरी बार भी में भूखा रह गया हूं।
इसलिए में तेरे पास आया हु कुम्भना कुछ हो तो मुझे खिला भूख लग रही है ,तब कुम्भनदास जी झट से उठे और अपनी रोटी की पोटली खोली तब प्रभु ने पोटली देखकर कहा कि कुम्भना तेने कुछ खाया नही तब कुम्भनदास जी बोले अरे लाला ऐसा कभी हुआ है
कि मैं तेरे बिना पेट भर लु ले लाला टेंटी को साग हैं बेजर की रोटी हे छाछ भी हे प्रभु बोले कुम्भना आज तो तेरी गोदी में बैठके अरोगवे को मन हैं
मेरो कुम्भनदास की गोदी में बैठकर प्रभु अरोगवे लगे , कुम्भनदास जी बोले लाला बेर को सांधनों मत खाइयों तेरे गले में चुभेगो अटक जायगो तू रोटी साग के संग छाछ पी
, प्रभु की आँखों से आँसू छलक गये जैसे ही प्रभु छाछ पिते ओर मुह से छाछ से भर जाता तो कुंभनदास जी अपनी बन्दी अपने कपड़े से प्रभु को श्रीमुख पोछने लगते प्रभु के माथे पर हाथ फेरते रहते ,
दोनों के नेत्र से आंसू छलक रहे थे प्रभु ने भोग अरोग लिया और गोदी से उतर गए और बोले अब मोहे संतोष भयो ।
कुम्भना अब तू भोजन अरोग ले प्रभु पास में बैठ गए और कुम्भदास जी भोजन सामने लेकर प्रभु को निहारने में व्यस्त हो गए एकटक देखते रहे तब श्रीनाथजी बोले अरे कुम्भना तू ऐसे ना खा पायेगो
, प्रभु फिर कुम्भनदास जी की गोदी में बैठ गए और अपने श्रीहस्त से कुंभनदास जी को भोजन कराने लगे और प्रभु की नेत्रों से अश्रुधारा बह रही है
कुम्भनदास जी लाला का मस्तक चूम रहे हे
ऐसा हे पुष्टि में भगवान का भक्त के प्रति और भक्त का भगवान के प्रति स्नेह भाव और प्रेम !
बोलिये भक्त औऱ भगवान की जय हो
Tenti ko saag aur badger ki roti…..
Once Kumbhandas ji was waiting to see Shrinathji from Ashtashakha.

Prabhu said, what should I tell Kumbhna, today Chaturanan offered roti and greens to Bari, but he fell short and remained hungry.
And on the other hand, Madhavanand took bhog to the inn and asked to offer bhog for the second time, but that pundit was not interested in it, so I did not get satisfaction, I remained hungry for the second time as well.
That’s why I have come to you Kumbhana, I am feeling hungry if you have something, then Kumbhandas ji got up quickly and opened his bag of bread, then the Lord saw the bundle and said that Kumbhana, you have not eaten anything, then Kumbhandas ji said, oh Lala, has this ever happened. Is
That I can fill my stomach without you, Lala, the tent has greens, badger’s bread, buttermilk too, God said, Kumbhna, today, sitting in your lap, I feel like getting sick.
Sitting on the lap of my Kumbhandas, the Lord got cured.
Tears spilled from the eyes of the Lord, as soon as the Lord drank buttermilk and his mouth was filled with buttermilk, then his captive Kumbhandas ji used to wipe the Lord’s head with his cloth and kept running his hands on the forehead of the Lord,
Tears were rolling from the eyes of both of them, the Lord took the food and got down from the lap and said, now I am satisfied.
Kumbhna, now you take the food and the Lord sat nearby and Kumbhdas ji took the food in front of him and got busy looking at the Lord, then Shrinathji said, Oh Kumbhna, you will not be able to eat
, the Lord again sat on the lap of Kumbhandas ji and started feeding Kumbhandas ji with his own hands and tears are flowing from the eyes of the Lord.
Kumbhandas ji is kissing Lala’s head Such is the confirmation of God’s affection and love towards the devotee and the devotee towards God!
