श्री रामचरित मानस लंका काण्ड

दोहा :
गयउ सभा दरबार तब,
सुमिरि राम पद कंज।
सिंह ठवनि इत उत चितव,
धीर बीर बल पुंज॥18॥

भावार्थ:- श्री रामजी के चरणकमलों का स्मरण करके अंगद रावण की सभा के द्वार पर गए और वे धीर, वीर और बल की राशि अंगद सिंह की सी ऐंड़ (शान) से इधर-उधर देखने लगे॥18॥

चौपाई :
तुरत निसाचर एक पठावा।
समाचार रावनहि जनावा॥
सुनत बिहँसि बोला दससीसा।
आनहु बोलि कहाँ कर कीसा॥1॥

भावार्थ:- तुरंत ही उन्होंने एक राक्षस को भेजा और रावण को अपने आने का समाचार सूचित किया। सुनते ही रावण हँसकर बोला- बुला लाओ, (देखें) कहाँ का बंदर है॥1॥

आयसु पाइ दूत बहु धाए।
कपिकुंजरहि बोलि लै आए॥
अंगद दीख दसानन बैसें।
सहित प्रान कज्जलगिरि जैसें॥2॥

भावार्थ:- आज्ञा पाकर बहुत से दूत दौड़े और वानरों में हाथी के समान अंगद को बुला लाए। अंगद ने रावण को ऐसे बैठे हुए देखा, जैसे कोई प्राणयुक्त (सजीव) काजल का पहाड़ हो!॥2॥

भुजा बिटप सिर सृंग समाना।
रोमावली लता जनु नाना॥
मुख नासिका नयन अरु काना।
गिरि कंदरा खोह अनुमाना॥3॥

भावार्थ:- भुजाएँ वृक्षों के और सिर पर्वतों के शिखरों के समान हैं। रोमावली मानो बहुत सी लताएँ हैं। मुँह, नाक, नेत्र और कान पर्वत की कन्दराओं और खोहों के बराबर हैं॥3॥

गयउ सभाँ मन नेकु न मुरा।
बालितनय अतिबल बाँकुरा॥
उठे सभासद कपि कहुँ देखी।
रावन उर भा क्रोध बिसेषी॥4॥

भावार्थ:- अत्यंत बलवान्‌ बाँके वीर बालिपुत्र अंगद सभा में गए, वे मन में जरा भी नहीं झिझके। अंगद को देखते ही सब सभासद् उठ खड़े हुए। यह देखकर रावण के हृदय में बड़ा क्रोध हुआ॥4॥

दोहा :
जथा मत्त गज जूथ महुँ ,
पंचानन चलि जाइ।
राम प्रताप सुमिरि मन,
बैठ सभाँ सिरु नाइ॥19॥

भावार्थ:- जैसे मतवाले हाथियों के झुंड में सिंह (निःशंक होकर) चला जाता है, वैसे ही श्री रामजी के प्रताप का हृदय में स्मरण करके वे (निर्भय) सभा में सिर नवाकर बैठ गए॥19॥

चौपाई :
कह दसकंठ कवन तैं बंदर।
मैं रघुबीर दूत दसकंधर॥
मम जनकहि तोहि रही मिताई।
तव हित कारन आयउँ भाई॥1॥

भावार्थ:- रावण ने कहा- अरे बंदर! तू कौन है? (अंगद ने कहा-) हे दशग्रीव! मैं श्री रघुवीर का दूत हूँ। मेरे पिता से और तुमसे मित्रता थी, इसलिए हे भाई! मैं तुम्हारी भलाई के लिए ही आया हूँ॥1॥

उत्तम कुल पुलस्ति कर नाती।
सिव बिंरचि पूजेहु बहु भाँती॥
बर पायहु कीन्हेहु सब काजा।
जीतेहु लोकपाल सब राजा॥2॥

भावार्थ:- तुम्हारा उत्तम कुल है, पुलस्त्य ऋषि के तुम पौत्र हो। शिवजी की और ब्रह्माजी की तुमने बहुत प्रकार से पूजा की है। उनसे वर पाए हैं और सब काम सिद्ध किए हैं। लोकपालों और सब राजाओं को तुमने जीत लिया है॥2॥

नृप अभिमान मोह बस किंबा।
हरि आनिहु सीता जगदंबा॥
अब सुभ कहा सुनहु तुम्ह मोरा।
सब अपराध छमिहि प्रभु तोरा॥3॥

भावार्थ:- राजमद से या मोहवश तुम जगज्जननी सीताजी को हर लाए हो। अब तुम मेरे शुभ वचन (मेरी हितभरी सलाह) सुनो! (उसके अनुसार चलने से) प्रभु श्री रामजी तुम्हारे सब अपराध क्षमा कर देंगे॥3॥

दसन गहहु तृन कंठ कुठारी।
परिजन सहित संग निज नारी॥
सादर जनकसुता करि आगें।
एहि बिधि चलहु सकल भय त्यागें॥4॥

भावार्थ:-दाँतों में तिनका दबाओ, गले में कुल्हाड़ी डालो और कुटुम्बियों सहित अपनी स्त्रियों को साथ लेकर, आदरपूर्वक जानकीजी को आगे करके, इस प्रकार सब भय छोड़कर चलो-॥4॥

Doha: Gayu Sabha Darbar then, Sumiri Ram Pad Kanj. Singh Thavani Et Ut Chitav, Dheer Bir Bal Punj॥18॥

Meaning:- Remembering the lotus feet of Shri Ramji, Angad went to the door of Ravana’s court and started looking around with pride like that of Angad Singh, who is patient, brave and strong.18॥

Chaupai: Quickly send a night message. News Ravanahi Janava. Sunat said without laughing, Dassisa. Aanhu said where to do what?1॥

Meaning:- Immediately he sent a demon and informed Ravana about his arrival. On hearing this, Ravana laughed and said – Call me, (see) where the monkey is from.1॥

Aisu pai messenger bahu dhaye. Kapikunjarahi boli lai ae॥ Angad Dikh Dasanan Baisen. with life like Kajjalgiri.

Meaning:- After receiving the permission, many messengers ran and called Angad, who was like an elephant among monkeys. Angad saw Ravana sitting like a mountain of living mascara!॥2॥

Arm Bitap Head Sringa Samana. Romavali Lata Janu Nana॥ Mouth, nose, eyes and ears. Giri Kandara Cave Anumana॥3॥

Meaning:- The arms are like trees and the head is like the peaks of mountains. Romavali seems to be many vines. The mouth, nose, eyes and ears are equal to the caves and caverns of the mountain.॥3॥

I went to the meeting and my mind did not turn away. Balitanay Atibal Bankura॥ The councilor got up and saw where he was. Ravan ur bha krodh biseshi॥4॥

Meaning:- The extremely strong and brave son of Banke Angad went to the meeting, he did not hesitate at all in his mind. As soon as they saw Angad, all the members stood up. Seeing this, Ravana became very angry in his heart.4॥

Doha: I am as drunk as I am, Panchanan go away. Ram Pratap remembers my mind, Sit sabha siru nai॥19॥

Meaning:- Just as a lion walks (without any doubt) into a herd of intoxicated elephants, in the same way, remembering the glory of Shri Ramji in his heart, he (fearless) sat down in the assembly with his head bowed.19॥

Chaupai: You are a monkey. I am Raghubir, messenger of Daskandhar. Mama Janakahi Tohi Rahi Mithai. That’s why I came brother.1॥

Meaning:- Ravana said- Hey monkey! who are you? (Angad said-) O Dashagriva! I am the messenger of Shri Raghuveer. I was friends with my father and you, that’s why brother! I have come only for your good.॥1॥

Uttam Kul Pulasti Kar Grandson. I worship you like everyone else. Why did I get everything? Jeetehu Lokpal Sab Raja॥2॥

Meaning:- You have a good family, you are the grandson of Pulastya Rishi. You have worshiped Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma in many ways. Got a boon from him and accomplished all the tasks. You have conquered the Lokpalas and all the kings.॥2॥

The innocent pride and attachment are enough, Kimba. Hari Anihu Sita Jagdamba॥ Now good morning, I heard you, Mora. All crimes are half-dead Lord Tora॥3॥

Meaning:- Out of royal lust or attachment, you have taken away Jagajjanani Sitaji. Now you listen to my good words (my beneficial advice)! (By following him) Lord Shri Ramji will forgive all your crimes.3॥

Dasan gahhu trin kantha kuthari. My wife along with her family. With regards, Janaksuta Kari Ahead. Let’s follow this method and give up all fear.4॥

Meaning:-Blew straw in your teeth, put an ax around your neck and take your women with you along with your relatives, respectfully keeping Janakiji in front, leave all fear and walk like this -॥4॥ Jai Shri Sitaram ji
