ऐसी बात नहीं है कि अवधपुरी में राजा दशरथ के घर श्रीराम अवतरित हुए तब से ही लोग श्रीराम का भजन करते हैं। नहीं, नहीं, राजा दिलीप, राजा रघु एवं राजा दशरथ के पिता राजा अज भी श्रीराम का ही भजन करते थे क्योंकि श्रीराम केवल दशरथ के पुत्र ही नहीं हैं, बल्कि रोम-रोम में जो चेतना व्याप्त रही है, रोम-रोम में जो रम रहा है उसका ही नाम है ‘राम’। राम जी के अवतरण से हजारों-लाखों वर्ष पहले राम नाम की महिमा वेदों में पायी जाती है।
रमन्ते योगिनः यस्मिन् स रामः।
‘जिसमें योगी लोगों का मन रमण करता है उसी को कहते हैं ‘राम’।’
एक राम घट-घट में बोले,
दूजो राम दशरथ घर डोले।
तीसर राम का सकल पसारा,
ब्रह्म राम है सबसे न्यारा।।
इस कथनानुसार तो चार राम हुए। ऐसा कैसे ?
“थोड़ी साधना करो, जप-ध्यानादि करो, फिर समझ में आ जायेगा।”
जीव राम घट-घट में बोले।
ईश राम दशरथ घर डोले।
बिंदु राम का सकल पसारा।
ब्रह्म राम है सबसे न्यारा।।
जीव, ईश, बिंदु व ब्रह्म इस प्रकार भी तो राम चार ही हुए न ?
साधना आदि करके मति थोड़ी सूक्ष्म तो हुई है। किंतु अभी तक चार राम दिख रहे हैं। घड़े में आया हुआ आकाश, मठ में आया हुआ आकाश, मेघ में आया हुआ आकाश और उससे अलग व्यापक आकाश, ये चार दिखते हैं। अगर तीनों उपाधियों:- घट, मठ, और मेघ को हटा दो तो चारों में आकाश तो एक-का-एक ही है। इसी प्रकार-
वही राम घट-घट में बोले।
वही राम दशरथ घर डोले।
उसी राम का सकल पसारा।
वही राम है सबसे न्यारा।।
रोम-रोम में रमने वाला चैतन्यतत्त्व वही का वही है और उसी का नाम है चैतन्य “राम”
वे ही श्रीराम जिस दिन दशरथ-कौशल्या के घर साकार रूप में अवतरित हुए,
कैसे हैं वे श्रीराम-
भगवान श्रीराम नित्य कैवल्य ज्ञान में विचरण करते थे। वे आदर्श पुत्र, आदर्श शिष्य, आदर्श मित्र एवं आदर्श शत्रु थे। आदर्श शत्रु ! हाँ, आदर्श शत्रु थे, तभी तो शत्रु भी उनकी प्रशंसा किये बिना न रह सके। कथा आती है कि लक्ष्मण जी के द्वारा मारे गये मेघनाद की दाहिनी भुजा सती सुलोचना के समीप जा गिरी। सुलोचना ने कहा, ‘अगर यह मेरे पति की भुजा है तो हस्ताक्षर करके इस बात को प्रमाणित कर दे।’
कटी भुजा ने हस्ताक्षर करके सच्चाई स्पष्ट कर दी। सुलोचना ने निश्चय किया कि ‘मुझे अब सती हो जाना चाहिए।’ किंतु पति का शव तो राम-दल में पड़ा हुआ था। फिर वह कैसे सती होती ! जब अपने ससुर रावण से उसने अपना अभिप्राय कहकर अपने पति का शव मँगवाने के लिए कहा, तब रावण ने उत्तर दिया, “देवी ! तुम स्वयं ही राम-दल में जाकर अपने पति का शव प्राप्त करो।
जिस समाज में बालब्रह्मचारी श्रीहनुमान, परम जितेन्द्रिय श्री लक्ष्मण तथा एकपत्नीव्रती भगवान श्रीराम विद्यमान हैं, उस समाज में तुम्हें जाने से डरना नहीं चाहिए। मुझे विश्वास है कि इन स्तुत्य महापुरुषों के द्वारा तुम निराश नहीं लौटायी जाओगी।”
जब रावण सुलोचना से ये बातें कह रहा था, उस समय कुछ मंत्री भी उसके पास बैठे थे। उन लोगों ने कहा- “जिनकी पत्नी को आपने बंदिनी बनाकर अशोक वाटिका में रख छोड़ा है, उनके पास आपकी बहू का जाना कहाँ तक उचित है ? यदि यह गयी तो क्या सुरक्षित वापस लौट सकेगी ?”
यह सुनकर रावण बोला, “मंत्रियो ! लगता है तुम्हारी बुद्धि विनष्ट हो गयी है। अरे ! यह तो रावण का काम है जो दूसरे की स्त्री को अपने घर में बंदिनी बनाकर रख सकता है, राम का नहीं।”
धन्य है श्रीराम का दिव्य चरित्र, जिसका विश्वास शत्रु भी करता है और प्रशंसा करते थकता नहीं ! प्रभु श्रीराम का पावन चरित्र दिव्य होते हुए भी इतना सहज सरल है कि मनुष्य चाहे तो अपने जीवन में भी उसका अनुसरण कर सकता है। ।। श्री रामाय नमः ।।
