गोपियों की बात सुनकर उद्धव की आँखों से आज आंसू आ गए हैं।
उद्धव अब जान गए हैं की प्रेम क्या होता है।भक्ति की महिमा क्या होती है।
उद्धवजी गोपियों की विरह-व्यथा मिटाने के लिये कई महीनों तक वहीं रहे।वे भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की अनेकों लीलाएँ और बातें सुना-सुनाकर व्रज-वासियों को आनन्दित करते रहते।
नन्दबाबा के व्रज में जितने दिनों तक उद्धवजी रहे,उतने दिनों तक भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की लीला की चर्चा होते रहने के कारण व्रजवासियों को ऐसा जान पड़ा,मानो अभी एक ही क्षण हुआ हो ।
भगवान के परमप्रेमी भक्त उद्धवजी कभी नदी तट पर जाते,कभी वनों में विहरते और कभी गिरिराज की गातियों में विचरते।
कभी रंग-बिरंगे फूलों से लदे हुए वृक्षों में ही रम जाते और यहाँ भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने कौन-सी लीला की है,यह पूछ-पूछकर व्रजवासियों को भगवान श्रीकृष्ण और लीला के स्मरण में तन्मय कर देते।
गोपियों का प्रेम देखकर उद्धव जी गोपियों को नमस्कार करते हुए इस प्रकार गान करने लगे:-
‘इस पृथ्वी पर केवल इन गोपियों का ही शरीर धारण करना श्रेष्ठ एवं सफल है; क्योंकि ये सर्वात्मा भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के परम प्रेममय दिव्य महाभाव में स्थित हो गयी हैं।प्रेम की यह ऊँची-से-ऊँची स्थिति संसार के भय से मुमुक्षुजनों के लिये ही नहीं, अपितु बड़े-बड़े मुनियों-मुक्त पुरुषों तथा हम भक्तजनों के लिये भी अभी वांछनीय ही है।
हमें इसकी प्राप्ति नहीं हो सकी।सत्य है, जिन्हें भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की लीला-कथा के रस का चस्का लग गया है,उन्हें कुलीनता की,द्विजाति समुचित संस्कार की और बड़े-बड़े यज्ञ-यागों में दीक्षित होने की क्या आवश्यकता है ?
अथवा यदि भगवान की कथा का रस नहीं मिला,उसमें रूचि नहीं हुई,तो अनेक महाकल्पों तक बार-बार ब्रम्हा होने से ही क्या लाभ ?
कहाँ ये वनचरी आचार,ज्ञान और जाति से हीन गाँव की गँवार ग्वालिनें और कहाँ सच्चिंदानन्दघन भगवान श्रीकृष्ण में यह अनन्य प्रेम!
अहो, धन्य है! धन्य हैं! इससे सिद्ध होता है कि कोई भगवान के स्वरुप और रहस्य को न जानकर भी उनसे प्रेम करे, उनका भजन करे,तो वे स्वयं अपनी शक्ति से अपनी कृपा से उनका परम कल्याण कर देते हैं;
ठीक वैसे ही,जैसे कोई अनजान में भी अमृत पी ले तो वह अपनी वस्तु-शक्ति ही पीने वाले को अमर बना देता है।
भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने रासोत्सव के समय इन व्रजांगनाओं के गले में बाँह डाल-डालकर इनके मनोरथ पूर्ण किये।इन्हें भगवान ने जिस कृपा-प्रसाद का वितरण किया, इन्हें जैसा प्रेमदान किया,
वैसा भगवान की परमप्रेमवती नित्यसंगिनी वक्षःस्थल पर विराजमान लक्ष्मीजी को भी नहीं प्राप्त हुआ।कमल की-सी सुगन्ध और कान्ति से युक्त देवांगनाओं को भी नहीं मिला।फिर दूसरी स्त्रियों की तो बात ही क्या करें ?
मेरे लिये तो सबसे अच्छी बात यही होगी कि मैं इस वृन्दावनधाम में कोई झाड़ी,लता अथवा ओषधि-जड़ी-बूटी ही बन जाऊँ!
अहा! यदि मैं ऐसा बन जाऊँगा,तो मुझ इन व्रजांगनाओं की चरणधूलि निरन्तर सेवन करने के लिये मिलती रहेगी। इनकी चरण-रज में स्नान करके मैं धन्य हो जाऊँगा।
धन्य हैं
ये गोपियाँ! देखो तो सही, जिनको छोड़ना अत्यन्त कठिन है,उन स्वजन-सम्बन्धियों तथा लोक-वेद की आर्य-मर्यादा का परित्याग करके इन्होने भगवान की पदवी,
उनके साथ तन्मयता,उनका परम प्रेम प्राप्त कर लिया है-औरों की तो बात की क्या-भगवद्वाणी,उनकी निःस्वासरूप समस्त श्रुतियाँ,उपनिषदें भी अबतक भगवान के परम प्रेममय स्वरुप को ढूँढती ही रहती हैं,प्राप्त नहीं कर पातीं।
स्वयं भगवती लक्ष्मीजी जिनकी पूजा करती रहती हैं; ब्रम्हा,शंकर आदि परम समर्थ देवता,पूर्णकाम आत्माराम और बड़े-बड़े योगेश्वर अपने ह्रदय में जिनका चिन्तन करते रहते हैं,
भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के उन्हीं चरणारविन्दों को रास-लीला के समय गोपियों ने अपने वक्षःस्थल पर रखा और उनका आलिंगन करके अपने ह्रदय की जलन,विरह-व्यथा शान्त की।
नन्दबाबा के व्रज में रहने वाली गोपांगनाओं की चरण-धूलि को मैं बारंबार प्रणाम करता हूँ-उसे सिरपर चढ़ाता हूँ।अहा! इन गोपियों ने भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की लीलाकथा के सम्बन्ध में जो कुछ गान किया है,
वह तीनों लोगों को पवित्र कर रहा है और सदा-सर्वदा पवित्र करता रहेगा’।
इस प्रकार कई महीनों तक व्रज में रहकर उद्धवजी ने अब मथुरा जाने के लिये गोपियों से,नन्दबाबा और यशोदा मैया से आज्ञा प्राप्त की।ग्वालबालों से विदा लेकर वहाँ यात्रा करने के लिये वे रथ पर सवार हुए।
जब उनका रथ व्रजसे बाहर निकला,तब नन्दबाबा आदि गोपगण बहुत-सी भेंट की सामग्री लेकर उनके पास आये और आँखों में आँसू भरकर उन्होंने बड़े प्रेम से कहा।
-‘उद्धवजी!अब हम यही चाहते हैं कि हमारे मन की एक-एक वृत्ति,एक-एक संकल्प श्रीकृष्ण के चरणकमलों के ही आश्रित रहे।
उन्हीं की सेवा के लिये उठे और उन्हीं में लगी भी रहे।हमारी वाणी नित्य-निरन्तर उन्हीं के नामों का उच्चारण करती रहे और शरीर उन्हीं को प्रणाम करने,
उन्हीं की आज्ञा-पालन और सेवा में लगा रहे।
उद्धवजी! हम सच कहते हैं,हमें मोक्ष की इच्छा बिलकुल नहीं है।हम भगवान की इच्छा से अपने कर्मों के अनुसार चाहे जिस योनि में जन्म लें -वह शुभ आचरण करें,दान करें और उसका फल यही पावें कि हमारे अपने ईश्वर श्रीकृष्ण में हमारी प्रीति उत्तरोत्तर बढती रहे’।
प्रिय परीक्षित्! नन्दबाबा आदि गोपों ने इस प्रकार श्रीकृष्ण-भक्ति के द्वारा उद्धवजी का सम्मान किया।अब वे भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के द्वारा सुरक्षित मथुरापुरी में लौट आये।

Tears have come from Uddhav’s eyes today after listening to the gopis. Uddhav has now come to know what is love, what is the glory of devotion. Uddhavji stayed there for many months to remove the pain of separation from the Gopis. He kept rejoicing the residents of Vraj by narrating many pastimes and sayings of Lord Krishna. As long as Uddhavji stayed in Nandbaba’s Vraj, the people of Vraj felt as if only one moment had happened, due to the continuous discussion of Lord Krishna’s pastimes. Uddhavji, the most loving devotee of God, sometimes used to go to the banks of the river, sometimes wandered in the forests and sometimes wandered in the gatis of Giriraj.
Sometimes he used to get engrossed in the trees laden with colorful flowers and by asking what leela Lord Krishna had performed here, he would make the residents of Vraj engrossed in the remembrance of Lord Krishna and his leela.
Seeing the love of the gopis, Uddhav ji started singing like this while saluting the gopis:-
‘ It is best and successful to have the body of only these gopis on this earth; Because this whole soul has become situated in the supreme love of Lord Krishna. This highest-on-high state of love is not only for the people who are free from the fear of the world, but also for the great sages-liberated men and for us devotees. It is desirable.
We could not get it. It is true, those who have got a taste of Lord Shri Krishna’s leela-katha, what is the need of nobility, proper culture of dual caste and initiation in big sacrifices?
Or if the story of God is not enjoyed, if there is no interest in it, then what is the use of being Brahma again and again for many Mahakalpas?
Where are these uncouth village girls who are devoid of knowledge and caste, and where is this unique love for Sachchindanandaghan Lord Krishna!
Oh, congratulations! Blessed are you! This proves that even without knowing the form and mystery of God, if someone loves him, worships him, then he himself, with his power, by his grace, does him ultimate welfare;
Just like, if someone drinks nectar even unknowingly, then it’s material power itself makes the drinker immortal. At the time of Rasotsav, Lord Krishna fulfilled the wishes of these Vrajanganas by putting his arms around their necks.
Even Lakshmiji, sitting on the bosom of God’s supreme beloved Nityasangini, did not get it. Even the goddesses with the fragrance and luster of lotus did not get it. Then what to talk about other women?
The best thing for me would be to become a bush, a creeper or a medicinal herb in this Vrindavandham!
Aha! If I become like this, then I will continue to get the dust of the feet of these Vrajanganas to consume. I will be blessed by bathing in his feet. are blessed
These gopis! See, it is true, who are very difficult to leave, by abandoning those relatives and the Arya-decency of Lok-Veda, they took the title of God,
I have achieved attachment with him, his ultimate love – what to talk about others – Bhagavadvani, his breathless Shrutis, Upanishads also still keep on searching for the supreme loving form of God, cannot achieve it.
Whom Bhagwati Lakshmiji herself worships; Brahma, Shankar etc. the most powerful Gods, Purnakama Atmaram and the great Yogeshwar who keep thinking about in their heart,
At the time of raas-leela, the gopis kept those feet of Lord Shri Krishna on their chest and by hugging them, their heart’s jealousy, pain of separation was pacified.
I bow again and again to the dust of the feet of the gopanganas who live in Nandbaba’s Vraj – I offer it on my head. Aha! Whatever songs these gopis have sung in relation to Lord Krishna’s pastimes,
He is purifying all the three people and will continue to do so forever. Thus staying in Vraj for many months, Uddhavji now obtained permission from Gopis, Nandbaba and Yashoda Maiya to go to Mathura. Taking leave of the cowherd boys, they boarded the chariot to travel there.
When his chariot came out of Vraj, then Nandbaba etc. Gopgan came to him with many offering materials and with tears in his eyes he said with great love.
-‘ Uddhavji! Now we want that every instinct of our mind, every resolution should be dependent on the lotus feet of Shri Krishna.
Rise up to serve Him and remain engaged in Him only. Our speech should continuously chant His names and body should bow down to Him only.
Be engaged in his obedience and service. Uddhavji! We say the truth, we have no desire for salvation at all. May we be born in any form according to our deeds by the will of God – do good deeds, do charity and get the result that our love for our own God Shri Krishna will increase more and more. Keep growing’.
Dear Parikshit! Nandbaba etc. Gopas thus respected Uddhavji by devotion to Shri Krishna. Now they returned to Mathurapuri protected by Lord Shri Krishna. respectively in the next post
