विज्ञान और ईश्वर

एक बार एक ट्रेन जो दिल्ली से कानपुर जा रही थी, उस ट्रेन के फर्स्ट क्लास AC में दो लोग, एक नवयुवक और एक बुजुर्ग यात्रा कर रहे थे। नवयुवक की नज़र बहुत देर से सामने बैठे बुजुर्ग पर थी जो लगातार गीता पढ़ रहे थे और मंद मंद मुस्कुरा रहे थे।
अचानक नवयुवक ने उन्हें चुनौती दी कि भगवान तो होते नहीं हैं तो फिर आप ये सब झूठ कब तक मानते रहेंगे ? जो है वह सब विज्ञान है।
वो बुजुर्ग बहुत देर तक उस नवयुवक के भगवान के अस्तित्व और विज्ञान के चमत्कारों के सभी तर्कों को ध्यान से सुनते रहे। उस नवयुवक ने उन्हें बताया कि वह एक खगोल वैज्ञानिक है और सारे ग्रहों के बारे में जानता है।
कोई सूर्य-चन्द्र भगवान नहीं है और उसके इन्हीं प्रयोगों से प्रभावित होकर सरकार उसे एक पुरस्कार भी दे रही है।
फिर करीब दो घण्टे बाद जब उस नवयुवक को लगा कि वे बुजुर्ग उसकी बातों से प्रभावित नहीं हो रहे हैं तो उसने यह कहकर बात ख़त्म कर दी कि “जब बीमार होंगे तो विज्ञान ही काम आएगा, भगवान नहीं,” और इतना कहकर वह सो गया और बुजुर्ग पुन: गीता पढ़ने में मग्न हो गए।
सुबह बुजुर्ग ने उस नवयुवक को जगाया और बताया कि आपको लेने के लिए लोग आए हैं। कृपया तैयार हो जाएँ। वे बाहर इंतज़ार कर रहे हैं और इतना कहकर उन्होंने मुस्कुरा कर विदा ली।
*आईआईटी, कानपुर में जब पुरुस्कार वितरण कार्यक्रम आरम्भ हुआ तो इस नवयुवक वैज्ञानिक की खूब प्रशंसा हुई और उसे पुरुस्कृत करने के लिए देश के सबसे वरिष्ठ वैज्ञानिक को मंच पर बुलाया गया। जब वे वरिष्ठ वैज्ञानिक मंच पर आए तो उस नवयुवक वैज्ञानिक की आँखें फटी की फटी रह गईं। ” अरे ! ये तो वही बुजुर्ग हैं जो कल उसके साथ यात्रा कर रहे थे और गीता की प्रशंसा कर रहे थे।” *
*वह नवयुवक तुरंत उनके पैरों में गिर पड़ा और अपने लिए क्षमा माँगने लगा और पूछा कि सर! अब आप बताइए कि “आपने कल मेरा विरोध क्यों नहीं किया ?” *
*बुजुर्ग ने कहा, “बेटा ! मैं भी ठीक ऐसा ही था परन्तु धीरे-धीरे प्रयोग करते करते मुझे एहसास हुआ कि ऐसे कुछ प्रश्न हैं जिनका उत्तर विज्ञान कभी नहीं खोज सकता और वे एक अदृश्य शक्ति द्वारा संचालित हैं। तभी से मुझे समझ में आया कि “जहाँ सारा विज्ञान ख़त्म होता है, वहाँ ईश्वर शुरु होता है।” *

And the elders again became engrossed in reading the Gita. In the morning the elder woke the young man and told that people have come to pick you up. Please get ready. They are waiting outside and saying this he smiled and left. * When the prize distribution program started in IIT, Kanpur, this young scientist was highly praised and the country’s most senior scientist was called on the stage to reward him. When that senior scientist came on the stage, the young scientist’s eyes were torn apart. “Hey! These are the same elders who were traveling with him yesterday and were praising Geeta.” , The young man immediately fell at his feet and started apologizing for himself and asked that Sir! Now tell me, “Why didn’t you oppose me yesterday?” , The old man said, “Son! I was like that too, but slowly doing experiments I realized that there are some questions which science can never find the answer to and they are governed by an invisible force.
